A high definition reproduction of the 1889 “Folies Bergères – les Dante” advertising poster. The “Folies Bergère” was a famous Parisian cabaret, known for its music hall and revue shows, which was founded in 1869 by the entrepreneur and composer Joseph Oller and which was an emblematic venue of the Parisian cultural scene. Located in the Pigalle district of Paris, Folies Bergère first began as a small concert café offering musical acts and burlesque shows. However, over time the venue evolved to host a variety of artistic performances, from dance and song revues to acrobatic and comedy acts. On a black background, this poster features two characters called the Dante, in red Devil costumes, spitting and projecting fire in a cozy and vaporous atmosphere. This Vintage poster is Printed in 300 dpi high definition quality on high quality paper >250g/m2 - Frame Not Included (optional).

The great 18th-century caricaturist, William Hogarth, who signed himself 'Britophil', caught the mood with flattering - if double-edged - national stereotypes. People loved his beer-swilling, roast-beef-guzzling, four-square Englishmen, the 'dread and envy' of starveling, bare-foot, onion-nibbling French peasants, oppressed by lecherous Jesuits and mincing courtiers.
