Hi again friends, Hope you are enjoying the holiday season & not letting the mayhem & foolishness stress you out. Today, I've got a card inspired by my blog pal extraordinaire, Patti Lee. Not too long ago, she posted this BEAUTIFUL poinsettia tri-fold shutter card she created using the SCAL program to cut SVG files. I luuuuv making tri-fold shutter cards & had to make my own version. I also have the SCAL 2 on my computer, but I've never used it! Aaack, I know!!! But it won't be long let me tell ya, cuz Patti is killing me with all the AMAZING projects she's made with the SCAL using SVG files! Here's my humble version inspired by the super talented Patti. Here it is closed: I used the Layered Poinsettias stamp & dies from Heartfelt Creations...again ... for the 547th time ;)... (at least I got my money's worth for once!) Here it is opened: The papers are BasicGrey. I also used the Petals-a-Plenty Embossing folder from SU. Another peek: I do luuuuv this card style. It looks complicated, but it's easy & it definitely gives a wow factor. You can find the tute for this card style---> Here. And if you've never stopped by my friend Patti's blog at Creations by Patti, first grab a super Venti cup of coffee cuz you'll be there for a while! Don't say I didn't warn ya! Hee Hee! Stop the Madness! I went to Patti's blog to link it to this post & I saw she's referenced me in her project today! Wow! That was totally a coincidence! I guess great minds do think alike ;) Ha! Ha! Thanks so much for peeking! Gotta Go!
Hi there and Happy Saturday to you! I'm so excited to share a fun challenge over at Our Creative Corner brought to you by this week's hostess: Tui Nathan. Tui is challenging us to create a FANCY FOLD card this week. How fun is that??! I created a tri-shutter card. It looks so much more difficult then it actually is to create. CLICK HERE for a great tutorial from Splitcoast Stampers. Because this card was SO dimensional, I had a hard time NOT over-embellishing it. Believe it or not, this is the FIRST time I have ever created one of these cards. After I finished it I wondered why I hadn't tried this technique sooner. Yup, I might be the first on the planet NOT to have created one of these.... For the dimensional ornament, I simply punched 6 ornaments from the punch of the same name. I folded each in half and distressed them a bit with some Early Espresso ink and a Stampin' Sponge. I stuck the punched ornaments together with liquid glue...added some (ret.) Silver Elastic cord and a hook from the Basic Clip Assortment. I stuck the ornament down with Sticky Strip just to make sure it held on. The double bow is accented with the mini-jingle bells for fun. Now, this isn't THE card you are going to stick in the mail, but think about how awesome it would be to hand-deliver a card with such fun dimension. Each layer was distressed by sponging some Early Espresso ink around the edges: Here is an overview of the entire card design: So are YOU ready to get your "FANCY ON"? Please stop by the Our Creative Corner site and check out what the lovely ladies on the DT have created for inspiration this week. We hope you will join us and play along. :) Have a HAPPY day!
Yesterday, I shared a fall themed Tri-Shutter Card for the Control Freaks Blog Tour. I have seen these cards many times before and never ...
Fijne dag verder.

Now... on to my card details: I made this tri-shutter card using stamps from the ODBD sets: Mighty Sea, The Sea, and Anchor (a past release). I stamped the images with Memento and colored with Copic Markers. I used SU! Close to Cocoa for my base, and Memory Box Poppyfinch designer paper. The blue is Bazzill. With my Grand Calibur, I cut several Spellbinders Dies: Grommet Tags, Labels 11, Labels 17, and Labels 20. I used the negative part of an EK Success Bracket Punch for the little blue "waves" I added. The twine is "hung" on a part of an ODBD Fence Die. The little sand dollars are a K&Co self adhesive ribbon which I cut apart to use as single shells. Below is a close up of the fish netting I created with a re-purposed onion bag. Hi Everyone, Welcome to my Fun Fold Friday series and this week I have made a Tri Fold Shutter Card showcasing the fabulous Snowflake Splendour designer series paper. There is a video tutorial over on my YouTube channel, just click on the link below: https://youtu.be/mqqwjEr7TDA Materials 1 piece of pacific point card stock 6" x 12" Silver foil - 2 pieces 1 7/8" x 5 7/8", 2 pieces 1 7/8" x 2 7/8", 4 pieces 1 7/8" x 1 3/8", 2 pieces 3 7/8" x 1 3/8", 1 piece 3 7/8" x 2 7/8" DSP - 2 pieces 1 3/4" x 5 3/4", 2 pieces 1 3/4" x 2 3/4", 4 pieces 1 3/4" x 1 1/4", 2 pieces 3 3/4" x 1 1/4" 2 pieces of whisper white 3 3/4" x 2 3/4" (additional one same size for the back of the card for your message if required) Scraps of balmy blue glimmer paper Stitched so sweetly dies Stampin Cut and Emboss machine Pine Tree punch Perfectly Plaid stamp set Pacific point ink Snowflake sequins Dimensionals Multipurpose adhesive Instructions On the long side, score the card base at 2", 4", 8" and 10". Put the card in your trimmer and on the short side cut at 1 1/2" between the first and last score lines only, then flip and so the same at the other side. Fold and burnish the score lines, from left to right - top and bottom - mountain, valley, mountain, valley. Fold and burnish the centre section - mountain, valley. Now it's time to decorate - add the dsp layers to the mat layers and then to the card using wet glue to give you a little wiggle room if you need it. I've used several different patterns in the dsp but you could do them all the same if you wanted to. Die cut a stitched scalloped rectangle that will fit across the first two panels - see picture, mine is approx 3 1/2" wide. Stamp a sentiment on this layer and the remaining whisper white piece for the centre of the card. Punch out a tree from the balmy blue glimmer paper and add to the sentiment layer with dimensionals and then add to the card front also with dimensionals. Add the stamped layer on top of the silver foil layer in the centre of the card. Add some sequins and job done, a very cute tri fold shutter card which looks great in lots of dsp combinations, here's a picture of the sample one that I made using the Heartwarming hugs dsp and the poinsettia dies. Hello, I've always loved the look of a Trishutter card. Here is how it's made. Then, I used a piece of Crumb Cake measuring 5-1/2" X 10-1/2" First, I cut vertically at 1-1/4" from each side from 1-3/4" to 8-3/4" You will get 2 cut lines. Then, I turned it horizontally and scored: at 1-3/4" in between the cut lines at 3-1/2" from top to bottom at 7" from top to bottom at 8-3/4" between the cut lines Then, I used the Gilded Autumn Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP) measuring 5-1/4" X 10-1/4" First cut 1" from 1-1/2" to 8-3/4" down both the long sides. Then, cut from 1-1/2" from 1" to 4-1/4" on both short sides. You will end up with this frame. Save the inside for later. Then, you cut the frame into 3-1/4" sections. The last one just needs a smidge off. Next, you adhere the DSP pieces to the edges. Cut the leftover piece to 2-3/4" X 3-1/4" and cut another one of Whisper White for the back. Fold the card like this. Here is the video to show you how to make this card. Thank you for checking in! Looking forward to sharing more with you next time. I have been wanting to try out this tri-fold shutter card for a very long time and finally got a chance to do it mainly because I got this amazing Scor Buddy sent to me! I have a scoring tool on my cutter but for some reason it always comes out crooked (I think my cutter is not exactly square). So I was thrilled to have this amazing tool to use! I used the ScorBuddy two ways, to create scor lines for my card folds and to create an embossed edge for my journaling piece. Below is the template I used to make up this card.... These are the basic Instructions: 1. Cut a 12" x 5 '1/2 " piece of Cardstock. (I used Bo Bunny's Shitake Dot paper) 2. You will create score lines at the 2", 4", 8" and 10" marks (some will be 'valley' scores and some will be 'peaks'....see diagram above to differntiate which go where. 3. You will cut measure 1 1/2" up (and down) from the 2 and 20 inch marks and cut 2 slits between these markings (I cut these slits first so that I knew when to stop and start my valley and peak scores). 4. Your card is not ready to shape into the folded design (see above photo to see if you have your folds correct). 5. Choose your patterned papers that you want to use for this card and then use the card as your template, you will need to cut patterned paper: 2 pieces of the T shapes (trim 1/16" off each edge) 4 x 1 3/8" x 1 3/8" 2 x 1 7/8" x 3 7/8" 1 x 2 3/8" x 3 7/8" I used the Scor Buddy on the middle (2 3/8" x 3 7/8") piece to make a nice embossed edge for my journaling piece. I flipped the piece over and used the two scores closest to the left edge to scor my border... When you flip the piece over you end up with a nice bumped up border for your journaling piece, here is a close-up of the finished section, I added some clock cut-outs from the BB Timepiece 6x6 patterned paper pad to decorate this piece with... Now just decorate to your hearts content! Bo Bunny has so many beautiful embellishing products to coordinate with each of their collections,...Rub-ons, stickers, chipboard, Jewels, flowers, ribbons and Noteworthy die cut shapes! Here is one more view of the card opened... Supplies used: Patterned Paper: Welcome Home ~ Porch Swing, Welcome Home, Front Door, Cardstock: Bo Bunny Shitake Dot 6"x6" Paper Pad: Welcome Home, Timepiece Chipboard: Gabrielle Butterflies, dot ribbon: Gabrielle card kit Noteworthy: Welcome Home Jewels: Welcome Home flowers: Bo Bunny Serenade collection Be sure to stop by the Bo Bunny site this week to check out all the projects being made with BoBunny products and Scor Buddy! I decided to make a Tri-shutter card (instructions HERE) because it allowed me the space to use several of the great stamps in two of the six sets being released... Surging Sea and Smooth Sailing! I was going for that "old wooden ship with it's polished brass" look... I hope I achieved it! I used K&Co Blue Awning design paper for the entire card, stamping the compass images directly on it, and all the rest of the stamped sentiments and the ship are stamped on the MME Bella Bella paper. I added embossed panels that I sponged with distress ink and cut with a variety of dies, and added brass brads, tabs and the brass colored mirrored paper. Here are the supplies used: Papers: Bazzill cardstock, K&Co Blue Awning and My Mind's Eye Bella Bella designer paper, Mirrored paper Ink: Versafine Sepia, THoltz Distress Ink - Walnut Stain, Stormy Sky Accessories: Spellbinders Double Ended Tags, Ribbon Tags Trio, Grommet Tags, Classic Circles Large & Small, Labels 22, 17 and 18. Handmade Birthday Ideas - Today's card is another fancy fold card for you called the tri-fold shutter. How cool is this card?!?
This is a tri-fold shutter card that I made for my friend a while ago. The instructions for this style of card can be found on Splitcoaststampers or you tube. I decided to make a scene for this type of card using my stampscapes stamps. I cut all the pieces of white glossy cardstock to fit each space of the card and then I laid them down in place like a puzzle and stamped my scene using black archival ink. When the ink was dry, I then added colour using stipple brushes and dye inks. Below is the card stretched out so that you can see the scene. And below here is the card folded up and ready to go into an envelope. These cards are intricate to do but look great when they are standing up in 3-D. Some people make the scene first and then cut it up into the correct size pieces. I chose to do it differently to make each element fit into each space. Take care! :D
I really like these tri-fold cards because you let the cuts and the patterned paper handle the design. Today I’ve created a modified tri-fold card that I got from Sandy Allnock (she even has …

These unusual Tri-Fold shaped cards are always a big hit. I had fun creating one ...Okay, I actually made several because they were so much fun... I wanted to share the easy directions with you
Jan.14/11 Here is a different tri-fold card. I saw this card here and thought it was a really neat fold. I hadn't seen one like it before. I had a problem getting the other one to fold flat, maybe I did something wrong, but since I wanted mine to be smaller, I went ahead and re-worked it to make a smaller version. Here are the instructions for the smaller tri-fold card. You can click on any of the pictures to get a better view of the measurements. Here is the template - the solid lines are cut lines and the broken ones are score lines. First Step - cut your card stock to 7" x 9" On your trimmer line up the 9" side of card stock at 1" and cut from 1.5" down to 7.5". Turn paper to opposite side and do the same. (On the picture I show it lined up at the 1.25" line, which is not correct, it should be at 1" - sorry about that) 1) Place paper in your Scor Pal - as shown in picture. 2) At the 1.5" mark score a line between the cut lines. 3) Move left edge of paper to the 1.5" mark and score between the cut lines at the 4.5" mark. 4) Now move paper back to the left side and at 4.5 score only down to the cut line. Do the same again below the lower cut line. 5) Now score at the 7" mark only to the cut line. Now score at 7" mark below the lower cut line. (these 7" score lines are not shown in the above picture, but they are in the next picture) Now fold as shown in picture... 1) mtn fold 2) valley fold 3) mtn fold 4) valley fold 5) mtn fold 6) valley fold This is how it folds to put in your envelope. Hope you can understand my instructions. If not, let me know and I'll try to help. Thanks for visiting & have fun.
