my son at 14 months. taken with a Canon 5D II and 50mm f/1.2L lens. ISO 100 1/200 shutter speed f/4.5 white balance was set to cloudy to warm it up. gridded 22" beauty dish above with a 580 EX II @ 1/2 power, triggered with Phottix Odins in manual mode. this shot, other than a bit of sharpening, and a little vignette to set the "mood", is straight out of camera. the gridded beauty dish did a great job of putting the light where I needed it. Floral artist. Born Constance Fletcher at 58 Warner Street, Derby. Educated in Ireland, she returned to England during WW1 as a welfare worker in the east end of London. Her work with flowers did not begin until she was in her forties, and her floral designs broke with the formal conventions of the day. In 1947 she was commissioned to supervise the flowers for the marriage of the future Queen Elizabeth II. She became joint Principal of the Cordon Bleu Cookery School and was credited with inventing the 'Coronation Chicken' dish in 1953. Died at Winkfield Place, near Windsor.

Valerie Hammond imbues a delicate understanding of each material she works with, whether it’s sculpting flowers and hands from wax or laser cutting large outlines of women onto watercolor paper. Focused on the poetics of each work she produces, details are found not only on the pieces she creates, but the way they cast shadows onto the wall or rest atop a gallery plinth. Her piece “Girl” projects a poem by Emily Dickinson when pinned against the wall, doubling the work’s message in its own shadow. More

Haberlea rhodopensis, is Tertiary relict plant endemic to the Balkan region, especially the Rhodope mountains in Bulgaria. Haberlea is also known as Orpheus flower and Resurrection plant because of its remarkable ability to survive very long periods of desiccation. It is protected medicinal plant and its removal from nature is prohibited. Haberlea is believed to have existed before the ice age. Its survival of over 2 million years is attributed to its remarkable anabiotic dryness-resistance. When picked, it can remain dry for up to 31 months and then come back to life when watered.
