Hi there It is never a straightforward life being an artist, is it? Or being self-employed generally. Life never trundles along at an even pace. Instead there are periods of calm, followed by mad panicking and self-doubt. It isn't that bad all the time, but the last few months have been a little testing at times. HOWEVER, I bring you news, some quite exciting news, really, oh plus some new prints. NEW EXHIBITION! I'm very excited indeed to announce that I have a new exhibition called 'The Donkey Monoliths' next month! It takes place in Leeds at Colours May Vary, a fantastic art/bookshop/gallery, just near the West Yorkshire Playhouse. I have created a new series of prints where my donkeys explore a sculptural landscape. Eight new linocut/screenprints, and a small edition of each (between ten and fifteen copies). The exhibition runs from 13th June until 2nd July 2019, with the preview evening on Thursday 13th June, 6-9pm. Any prints left over from the exhibition will be put in my Folksy shop. I'll blog more info soon, with some behind-the-scenes pics! NEW PRINTS I have two new prints to show you too. Firstly I have a new landscape print of 'Polperro' in Cornwall. I visited last year while on holiday, and loved the place. so I have created a two-colour hand-pressed linocut of a view across the bay, in an edition of 100. The print is available in my Folksy shop and at events. Secondly, and due to popular demand, I have created a poster-print version of my 'Olive The Whippet' linocut. It is A3 size, printed in a red/brown and grey, and available in my Folksy shop and at events.. WORKSHOPS I don't do many of these kinds of workshops, but I have one coming up in July: 'Two-colour/Advanced linocut printing' workshop Sat 20th July 2019 10am-4pm The Art House 8 Backfields Sheffield S1 4HJ £45 per place This workshop is designed for people who have already taken part in one of my 'intro' workshops previously, or recently done linocut elsewhere. Participants will learn how to do two-colour printing techniques, or explore one-colour compositions further. There are eight places in total on this workshop, and all participants must be over 16. To book, please email me on [email protected] EVENTS While I'm here I might as well let you know the events that I'm taking part in over the next couple of months: MANCHESTER PRINT FAIR Sat 11th May 2019, Manchester Cathedral, Victoria Street, Manchester M3 1SX, 10am-4pm I'm very happy to be returning to MPF after taking part in their brilliant Stockport event. Want to enjoy the sunny summer weather of Mallorca with a little less hustle and bustle than the capital of Palma? We know just the place say hello to Port d'Andratx on the Southwest tip of Mallorca. Not to be confused with the small town of Andratx about 5 kilometres down the road, Port d'Andratx blossomed in the twentieth century from a tiny fishing village to one of the Mediterraneans best harbours. Today, you will find it teaming with an eclectic mix of inhabitants ranging from jetsetters and celebrities to local fisherman. Villas are the most popular form of accommodation in Port d'Andratx, mostly located on the hillside or the port itself, which makes this is great place to get away for families or larger groups. There are also a handful of hotels ranging in style and quality within close proximity to the resort for those looking for a different kind of stay. Aside from spending lazy days enjoying a drink looking out over the dreamy harbour area, the towns major attraction is its beautiful mountain setting. Golf enthusiasts who want to work on their handicap are also in luck; there is a great course just down the road in Camp de Mar. As well as having its own charms, Port d'Andratx is also a great base from which to enjoy more of what the island of Mallorca has to offer. Those with a greater sense of adventure can enjoy hiking to Sant Elm or cycling along the coastal roads which are touted as some of the best routes in the world. If a slower pace is your thing, the resort itself has shops ranging from the laid-back to the luxurious or a boat trip to the island of Sa Dragonera to enjoy the views from a different angle. This place really does give new meaning to the phrase Mallorca uncovered. Our Travel Posters are original creations that we create ourself. We use quality paper for printing. Step away from the mundane and into a serene, stylised vision of Millport Harbour, on the quaint Isle of Cumbrae. This enchanting print, a genuine homage to Art Nouveau, captures the elegant curves and nature-inspired themes emblematic of the movement. The harmonious composition of line and form invites the viewer to explore a tranquil maritime scene where boats dance gently on calm waters reflecting the azure skies above. Observe how the distinctive Art Nouveau influence breathes life into the scene, as swirling cloud patterns in the sky and rippling water textures below form a symphony of movement, guiding your eye through the artwork. The bold outlines and stylised waves resonate with the period's fascination for organic shapes while whispering the aesthetic of modern graphic design. A palette of muted blues and whites creates a fresh, airy quality, while accents of darker hues provide a striking contrast, highlighting the historic homes and buildings lining the harbour. You can almost feel the soft breeze and the rhythm of the sea in this idyllic coastal setting. This exquisite print is part of the 'Scottish Harbours' collection, inviting connoisseurs and dreamers alike to celebrate the rugged beauty of Scotland's coastal heritage imbued with a distinctively decorative flair. Whether you're a native, a traveller with fond memories, or simply an admirer of art with a timeless touch, adding this piece to your collection ensures a gentle reminder of Scotland's coastal charm graces your space.

A3 (29.7cm x 42 cm) poster-print entitled 'Scarborough No.1' printed in light blue and dark brown. I'm a big fan of the Yorkshire coast, and recently discovered the joys of lovely Scarborough. It has everything, the tacky seaside amusements, a proper fishing harbour, a real mix of architecture, and some great views. The poster is a professional digital print of an original linocut which has now sold out. It is printed on high quality 160g cream paper, hand-titled and signed. The poster will be posted securely in a card tube.

Immerse yourself in the serene simplicity of the harbour life with our inspired print. This piece hones the essence of minimalism, depicting Mallaig Harbour through a harmonious blend of muted tones and geometric precision. The composition is a masterclass in understatement, featuring an array of beautifully understated edifices in a delicate palette of pastel hues that evoke tranquillity and a sense of timelessness. Each building is rendered with just enough detail to convey its form, while the sparing use of line and shadow captures the unique architectural characteristics without fuss or extravagance. The sea, mirroring the sky in a glass-like finish, bestows upon the scene a polished calmness, interrupted only by the elegant promise of adventure as illustrated by the poised boats. Reflections dance softly on the water's surface, adding depth and a subtle dynamism to the overall tableau. This print invites contemplation and a blissful quietude, with its minimalist approach creating a sense of space that allows the viewer's imagination to wander. It's a perfect addition to any setting that seeks to evoke peace and offers a modernistic tribute to the natural beauty and quaint charm of this coastal spectacle. The 'Modern & Minimal' collection, where this piece resides, promises to bring a contemporary aesthetic to the walls it graces while maintaining an air of effortless sophistication.
