Post-Hally's and wandering around beautiful Parson's Green, my sister and I found ourselves wanting more food (naturally). Another place we both had on our bucket-list of 'to-trys' was No.197 Chiswick Fire Station. Adorned with pink velvet sofas, various botanicals and cacti, and pink neon lighting, this is the ultimate blogger's paradise. And a foodie's too - the menu is second to none. But before we popped on the train to Chiswick, we quickly snooped around the incredible houses around Fulham (partly to wander off our rather full tummies from this cake). The weather, while it has been gloriously beautiful with hardly a drop of rain, has been rather chilly as of late, so it was without question that I would dust off my trusty Zara peacoat. I adore the black, faux fur collar on this coat, it adds such glamour. Underneath, I wore a folklore-inspired top, teamed with ripped skinny jeans and pointed silver pumps. The look was kept very simple and understated as I was in need of just something comfortable (after a week of dressing stylish for fashion uni, sometimes you just need to throw on a tee with jeans!). And to carry my essentials for the day, I opted for my much-loved Longchamp backpack. But alas, this girl can never say no to a good red lip. I brightened up the neutral-toned outfit with a pop of red from my Rimmel x Kate Moss lipstick. The homes that reside in Fulham are absolutely stunning, some of the best I've ever seen in London (and if you've seen my Instagram, I'm quite the house snooper!). Each house proffers so much elegance, character and whimsical charm. The perfect spot for outfit photos! Coat - Zara Top - Zara Jeans - Topshop Shoes - Topshop Bag - Longchamp Lipstick - Rimmel London We had drooled in jealousy long enough. It was time to hop on the train to Chiswick and devour our second lot of rich, delicious food for the day. No.197 Chiswick Fire Station (under the same branch as some of it's more well-known sisters such as No11. Pimlico Road), is an independent restaurant, café and bar with a relaxed approach towards dining. You can simply pop by for a quick drink post-work, a coffee with friends, or a big, hearty meal with family. There are no dining rules when it comes to this place. With contemporary interiors as a backdrop, Chiswick Fire Station has a strong focus on fresh, well-sourced ingredients that will serve to create healthy yet hearty eats. If you visit for breakfast, be sure to try the Blueberry Ricotta Pancakes or even the No197 Bacon Sandwich complete with portobello mushrooms. For lunch, I strongly recommend their small sharing dishes as you'll get to try lots of flavours and combinations all in one meal, or you can opt for a proper dish like Jess and I. While Jess chose the Halloumi and Courgette Burger (AMAZING - I was rather jealous), I opted for the Lemon and Garlic Marinated Chicken Breast with Sundried Tomato Risotto (equally delicious to be fair). It was beautifully washed down with some virgin cocktails (student life = low budgets). I ordered a pomegranate concoction and Jess a cucumber and elder-flower option. It was all wonderfully scrumptious and guzzled down within seconds! The relaxed ambiance, our full tummies and the hella' comfy seats almost made us a little sleepy but our tiredness would have to wait post-dessert. Jess was feeling rather full so I had dessert on my own (what a shame!), and devoured the Green Apple Sorbet with Autumn Fruits. It was the perfect autumnal finish to the day - the fruits were drenched in an incredible nutmeg spice that genuinely did make me all warm and fuzzy inside. I know I say everything is wonderful, but this day truly was. It was a bliss 24-hours filled with food, laughter and sunshine - who can argue with that? You can read what we got up to earlier that day here. No.197 Chiswick Fire Station is precisely that address, on the High Street. You can make a reservation here. Have you been to this restaurant?

Jackson's 4th birthday party was held at a nearby fire station. It was the PERFECT backdrop for his *fire truck* birthday! The kids got to climb in an ambulance, drive the fire truck, play fun games, see a real *friendly firefighter* in his safety gear, and tour the fire station. Jackson even got to wake up a sleeping firefighter! ;) It was a super fun {and HOT!} day! it all started with the invitation! {front} {back} happy birthday boy in the ambulance! it is a *working* fire station, and the alarms went off and a truck got sent out in the middle of the party! WOW! the fire department provided all the red tablecloths, yellow fire hats for the kids, and a few other random decorations {they didn't really *go* with my vintage fire truck theme, but whatever!}, as well as cute goodie bags for the kids to take home! fire hoses we had no more than 15 minutes to set up! um, WHAT?! that is insane. and nearly impossible. thankfully, my friends heather and jenn were a HUGE help! as you can see...the colors were red and turquoise :) {you can't see the blue and red izzes in the tub!} cupcakes! since the party was at 10am, we just had a few snackies to go along with the cake... strawberries/blueberries, blue corn chips and salsa, goldfish, and some {FIRE HOT!} candy ;) m&ms! {jackson's favorite} hot tamales & fire balls {get it?? :)} um. the amazing cake. my friend heather made it. it was beautiful! can you see "jackson" spelled out in fire hose? love it! back of the cake! adorable cookies! all the kids got some cool {i mean, HOT!} tats! listening intently to the instructions before climbing into the ambulance! addie and papa {with a baby...shocker!} the kids in the ambo! driving the big red truck! :) our fire lady ;) ok. this kid does NOT like to be the center of attention... i could tell he was struggling a few times during the party. broke my heart! but he was a tough boy and handled the *spotlight* just fine :) addie was GLUED to miss jenn! henry slept through the first part of the party, and then hung out with jojo during the rest! i found this ridiculously cute fire truck peddlecar on craiglist for $25! it was originally going to be a centerpiece, but the kids LOVED playing on it...so we just left it down... i need to find a better pic of it! :) the gift table {i travel with extra burlap just in case a table is covered in a hideously kitchy plastic fire truck table covering ;)} loved this gear just sitting on the truck, ready to go! happy boy on the back of the truck! touring the *man cave* touring the kitchen playing fun games! addie found a playmate her own size :) she.loved.doing.this. more games! duck, duck, goose fireman style... all the kids! {just missing alex} watching the *friendly fireman* talk about his safety gear he was a little scared of him... can you tell? he's holding on for dear life! i had to force him to take a picture with the fireman! cake time! {i promise he was happy!} making a wish! the favors! got the ridiculously cute buckets in the dollar bin at Target! the kids each got a fire truck cookie and a balloon :) thanks for coming, everyone! so cute, right?? birthday family foto! after the party, we went out to lunch with davey's parents and his brother's girlfriend, jenn. a great way to toast to a great party!! The only part that {majorly} bummed me out was that I felt like the *cake* part was rushed. We brought a bottle for Henry, but he {of course} rejected it...So he was screaming his head off while we were bringing the cake over to Jackson {which meant that Davey's mom missed Jackson blowing out his candles, and I was beyond stressed!}. I pretty much threw the cake down, told Davey he needed to cut it and make sure everyone got some {and that he needed to play *host*!}, and then ran off to nurse Henry in the {air-conditioned} bunk room. So I missed that whole part - which means I also missed photographing it :(....Oh well. We also forgot to take a family foto AT the fire station! I am beginning to understand why people are now hiring photographers for birthday parties - it's pretty much impossible to set-up, play host, photograph the decor/kids/activities/etc, nurse a baby, remember all the photos you HAVE to get, keep track of the clock, pack everything up...Hello, we also forgot to take a pic of Jackson and his cake with Davey, me, Addie, and Henry!! I must get over my need for everything to be *perfect*...and my need to be *in control* of it all! I just think that's how I'm wired! The MOST important thing is that Jackson had a FUN time! And I know he did. He can't stop talking about his party at the fire station...and all the cool things he got to do and see. His favorite part was the cake...My favorite quote after the party: "Mommy, I really like Drew's mommy. She made the the coolest cake I ever saw!" :) And he loved waking up the fireman in the bunk bed...and sitting in the ambulance...and driving the fire truck. He loved seeing his friends from preschool, and the 'hood, and even his two *beach girlfriends*...He loved opening his gifts {of course!}...and he is LOVING being FOUR!! :) Happy Birthday, sweet boy! We love you so much and are so HAPPY that you enjoyed your FIRE TRUCK party! :) XOXO Vendors: Fire Truck Cake: Heather LaDuca Invitations and Cupcake Toppers: Modern Moments Designs Fire Truck Cookies: Sweet Dreams Cookies
