Linda Christensen mines the figure for emotional content. Her works are interior, both emotionally and physically. Christensen’s muse is her daughter, whom she photographs in moments of solitude. She begins with a pose and then allows the painting to lead her, responding to the marks on the canvas. She uses color, brushstroke and the posture of her subject to transport the viewer into a private space. Inspired first by the Bay Area Abstract and Figurative traditions, Christensen began to develop her own language, concerning herself with mood and content. Christensen received her art education at UC Santa Cruz, where she raised two daughters and maintains her home and studio. She has been represented by galleries in New York, Laguna Beach, San Francisco, Dallas and Ketchum, Idaho. Donna Seager. Jennifer Pochinski is a Sacramento based painter who paints in a big, generous style. Although she is a representational artist, Jennifer works like an Abstract Expressionist, often covering an entire canvas in a single day with broad wet-on-wet brushstrokes. "I have to get my nerve up to paint," she explains, "because I'm after the feeling of profundity that is normally found only in abstract art."
