I love the Thanksgiving-inspired book, "10 Fat Turkeys" by Tony Johnston. The book’s repeated phrases and silly rhymes are perfect for my emergent readers. Plus, we get to practice counting down from ten, just in time for our upcoming subtraction unit. Read about the activity I developed for my class, and download the materials and visual recipe to use in your classroom!
I am working on a couple of Turkey projects that I am going to share with you all next week, but I thought I would go ahead and share what I made for Kaylee's class last year with you. I used the My Community Cart to cut the turkeys and then added the suckers to them. I took an exacto knife and cut a small slit to push the suckers through. I then used some google eyes and stickles to complete them. I called these Goody Gobblers, because I thought it was a funny Thanksgiving name. The kids really liked these, but my mom thought this was way too many suckers for each kid, lol.

Welcome to the Gobble Till You Wobble Blog Hop. I am co hosting this hop with Tina of Tina Time, We are all getting ready for turkey day and will be sharing some great projects that include our favorite Thanksgiving friend the turkey. I am your first stop on the hop, so let's get to the fun. :) Today, I have some Turkey Pops to share with you. I made these little treats for Kaylee to take to her class for Thanksgiving. To make these, I started out by using the Simply Charmed Cartridge to cut the front layer of the turkey cut. These were cut at a size of 3.5 inches. I cut the yellow and red layers and added some oval google eyes to them also. Next, I needed to make the feathers for the back. I started out by cutting three scalloped circles from the Sentimentals Cricut Cartridge. I cut them in the following sizes: Orange - 4.75 inches, Red - 4.25 inches, and Yellow - 3.5 inches. Once they were cut, I had to trim them so they would be straight across the bottom and be the correct height for my turkeys. Now, I put these together and got the turkeys ready to be finished. I used a hot glue gun to attach the front and back pieces to a tootsie pop. These are very simple and inexpensive to put together and I believe that the kids will really enjoy them. Here is a side view of how they look put together. Now, I have some blog candy to share. I will be giving away the Cuttlebug 5x7 Dominos Folder.
