I recently had a wonderful time with my family in Norway, where the idea of making this shawl came to my mind. I wanted to give it a name which will always remind me of this beautiful country, and Solveig seems to be the best choice. The shawl begins with the classic triangular shape worked in garter stitch and after a section of eyelets and bobbles, it is finished with a beautiful border of Japanese lace. The scalloped edge is formed by the lace pattern, so you don’t need to work short rows or any other methods of creating such beautiful edge.
Cirrhosa from Fiber Dreams is a lacy crescent shawl named for a variety of Clematis vine. This graceful shawl swirls around your shoulders in a froth of lovely Shetland lace. Ruxton is a super-textured, warm and snuggly top-down triangular lace shawl with motifs inspired by nature. The decrease placement in the richly textured border pattern and the picot bind off combine to form a subtle ruffling effect at the bottom, giving the shawl a lovely drape. The shape is a slightly elongated triangle, and may be blocked with the top edge straight or a bit curved. Ruxton works up surprisingly fast. Both the body and border patterns are very intuitive and easy to memorize. Before you know it, you’ll have a Ruxton to call your very own! The Ruxton pattern includes both charts and full written out instructions for those of you who prefer not to use charts. Size and Yardage: Instructions are provided for two sizes (see above). The sport weight version (pictured in gold) used 630-680 yards (576-622 m) and the smaller fingering weight version (pictured in rust) used 550-600 yards (503-549 m). The texture is still very evident in the fingering weight, but I would not recommend lace weight since the cool texture of the border will not show to its best advantage. I used the US 6 (4 mm) needles for the sport weight and the US 5 (3.75 mm) for the fingering version. The size is very easy to customize either by using different yarn, changing the number of pattern repeats, or both. Full instructions are provided to show you how, including how to calculate stitch counts for any size and how changing the number of chart repeats will affect the final size. Construction Notes: Ruxton starts at the center back of the neck and is knit down to the bottom edge. On the body, patterning is done on the right-side rows only, with all wrong-side rows being purled between the garter spine and borders. The textured border is patterned on both sides on most rows. For knitters who use the fabulous KnitCompanion app, this pattern is available at the kCDesigns store, already set up and ready for you to knit!
Light and airy as milkweed and thistledown, this shawl in Shetland lace evokes a feeling of being swept away by a breath of wind. The shawl begins in the centre and works outwards in rounds. Lace is worked on the front side on every round, with increases creating sweeping curves in various Shetland lace motifs. A garter stitch edging is knit sideways, attached to the live stitches of the shawl and bound off as you go. This pattern is charted. There are no line-by-line written instructions, although there is detailed information on how to work the charts and complete the pattern. Recommended for Experienced lace knitters. Yarn requirement: allow approx. 1,900 meters lace weight yarn where 50 grams = 500 meters Finished size if knitting to gauge: Approx. 70" in diameter after blocking. A simple relaxing garter stitch shawl, worked from the top down with a pretty eyelet pattern panel down the back. The edge is worked sideways and attached to the shawl as you go. The edge requires a little bit more concentration, but is not difficult. The lace parts are provided both as charts, and written directions. Measurements Shawlette 47x23.5"/120×60 cm Big shawl 61x27.5"/155×70 cm Gauge Gauge is not very important, but will obviously affect finished size and yarn consumption. 18 sts/40 rows = 4×4"/10x10 cm in garter st, after blocking. 1 repeat lace edge (29 sts/30 rows)≈6×3¾"/15x9.5 cm after blocking. Silk stretches a bit, and is very drapey. If you are working with another fiber, like wool, you may have to go up in needle size to obtain an airy fabric.

Pattern to stitch a lovely biscornu pin cushion with back stitches mainly. Instant download PDF file with color charts and mounting instructions to do it yourself. The biscornu is a small cushion sewn from two square sheets of cloth). The word comes from the French adjective, "biscornu", that means skewed, quirky or irregular. The design is inspired in the colors copper and blue and has geometric motives, and some specialty stitch especifically explained. The final biscornu can be used as a pin cushion, a paperweight, a fragranced pomander, or even simply as an ornament! I love to put some fragrant seeds like lavender or rosemary inside and use them in my closets. This design would also make a very pretty present for somebody special 💜. The design is 48 x 48 stitches (each side) and once finished it's about 9 cm (4") wide and 5 cm (2") thick if you work on 10 count/cm evenweave fabric. The use of Aida fabric is not recommended because the design has small backstitches that will be difficult to work on it. The design uses whole cross stitches only - no fractional stitches are used. Shahrzad, the legendary character of “One Thousand and One Nights” tale, was a queen who told stories to the king so he wouldn’t execute her! She was a smart woman and if she ever wore a shawl, it should have been very beautiful. This is a shawl that I think she would have worn. It begins at the center of the neck and is increased at three points to get to the desired length and width. The central increases are placed in a way that create a lovely aspect to the shawl. A wonderful lace pattern with beads creates the shawl. I have added beads to the top edge also to make it worthy of the queen she was. Beads along the top edge adds to the beauty of the shawl and creates a more elegant look when the shawl is worn.
Various fern motifs from Shetland to traditional combine in the delicate Fern Glade shawl. At the top, small motifs like little fiddleheads grow to become graceful fern fronds. A traditional Snail Shell edging finishes the shawl in a fanciful nod to the snails we see on dewy ferns in the morning. The shawl is worked by casting on three stitches at the middle top, then increasing at the sides and middle to create a triangular shape. It is finished with a lace edging worked sideways and attached to the live stitches of the shawl to bind it off. Some lace patterns have lace shaping on every row. This pattern is charted. There are no line-by-line written instructions, although there is detailed information on how to work the charts and complete the pattern. Recommended for Advanced Intermediate or Experienced lace knitters. Yarn requirement (allow approx. 900 m): lace weight yarn where 50 grams = 500 meters Finished size if knitting to gauge: Approximately 72˝ across top edge and 33˝ down middle point after blocking. I wrote this pattern in early 2020 when everyone needed a hug, and this is a big shawl to give you a big hug whenever you need it. Somebody said that in knitting there are many traditions but no rules, and in this shawl, I’ve taken some traditional Estonian motifs and stitches, and used them in a non-traditional way, with both the shape of the shawl and the direction of knitting. The shawl is a crescent shape, and is knitted in one piece from the centre top down. The Estonian stitches include nupps and gathered stitches, and the motifs include a leaf pattern and Queen Sylvia’s Lace. The lace stitches are all on the right side, the wrong side is all purl, including purling to complete the nupps and gathered stitches. The shawl can be knit in anything from laceweight to 8ply yarn. Test knitters used both 4ply and laceweight yarn. There is also an option to add an extra layer of lace to enlarge the shawl if you want to and are using a lighter weight yarn. The blocked and relaxed piece as knitted in 8ply measured approximately 54cm deep with a total span of 220cm, but the final size will vary according to your own choice of yarn and needle, as well as your own knitting tension. Yarn Weight Amount Required Needle Suggestion 8ply DK 800m 874yd 3.5mm US4 – 4.0mm US6 4 ply Fingering 550m 600yd 3.25mm US3 – 3.75mm US5 2ply Laceweight 520m 570yd (orig.) 600m 660yd (large) 3mm US2.5

If you are a rebel soul and maybe even don't mind some good old black humor, you probably will appreciate the Abramacabra shawl! If so, you certainly can crochet one for yourself or someone who would be happy to have this really damn cute accessory. The dimensions of the shawl (the widest part (along top edge) is about 120cm/47", and the depth (from middle top edge to triangular peak) is about 66cm/26") are given for 2 skeins of lace weight yarn and 2.5 mm crochet hook, though you can easily adjust the size by choosing a larger hook and thicker yarn and using more yarn. The pattern was tested by 4 crocheters with skill levels from beginning to intermediate. IMPORTANT! The price is for the pattern only, not for the ready made item.
With a nod to Shetland lace shawl construction, Henslowe's elongated shape, lacy curves and knitted-on edging strike a balance between practicality and style, traditional and modern. The 4-page pattern contains full-color photos and detailed descriptions of all techniques used. Lace patterns are written out rather than charted. Clarifying Note: When beginning to work knit-on edging, cast on additional stitches and work Row A only ONCE. Then, proceed to Picot Point Edge instructions on page 4.

Enjoy 15% off until Sunday 26th November Rabea Shawl is part of the Rabea Collection (Rabea Scarf, Rabea Shawl, Focaccia Shawl, Focaccia Cowl) The Rabea scarf was so well received by you that a larger version was absolutely necessary. Here it is, the Rabea scarf. It’s a narrow, medium-length scarf, which you can lengthen as you wish according to the instructions. The original wool of the shawl, Lima, has a nice bounce which supports the 3D effect of the shawl. Together with the silky sheen and the mohair thread, this is a combination that will keep the shawl in shape for a long time. interior geography and adventures in my dance with everyday beauty
A highly textured shawl worked lengthwise. This design will keep you interested the whole time with its combination of cables, lace and k/p stitch patterns. Looks great in a gradient or more solid/semi-solid yarn. Originally designed as one of two patterns featured in my Rav group’s annual mystery KAL, this shawl design is now formatted into a traditional, one-file pattern. There is now also a matching hat/fingerless mitt set!
