A landmark history of one hundred years of war waged against the Palestinians from the foremost US historian of the Middle East, told through pivotal events and family historyIn 1899, Yusuf Diya al-Khalidi, mayor of Jerusalem, alarmed by the Zionist call to create a Jewish national home in Palestine, wrote a letter aimed at Theodore Herzl: the country had an indigenous people who would not easily accept their own displacement. He warned of the perils ahead, ending his note, “in the name of God, let Palestine be left alone.” Thus Rashid Khalidi, al-Khalidi’s great-great-nephew, begins this sweeping history, the first general account of the conflict told from an explicitly Palestinian perspective.Drawing on a wealth of untapped archival materials and the reports of generations of family members―mayors, judges, scholars, diplomats, and journalists―The Hundred Years' War on Palestine upends accepted interpretations of the conflict, which tend, at best, to describe a tragic clash between two peoples with claims to the same territory. Instead, Khalidi traces a hundred years of colonial war on the Palestinians, waged first by the Zionist movement and then Israel, but backed by Britain and the United States, the great powers of the age. He highlights the key episodes in this colonial campaign, from the 1917 Balfour Declaration to the destruction of Palestine in 1948, from Israel’s 1982 invasion of Lebanon to the endless and futile peace process.Original, authoritative, and important, The Hundred Years' War on Palestine is not a chronicle of victimization, nor does it whitewash the mistakes of Palestinian leaders or deny the emergence of national movements on both sides. In reevaluating the forces arrayed against the Palestinians, it offers an illuminating new view of a conflict that continues to this day. Paperback Grades 9-12 336 Pages ISBN 9781250787651
WHERE DOES YOUR HISTORY BEGIN? As generations of family live through the life in a rural community, it leaves behind a history. In this history are homesteads, sometimes reborn, but sometimes deserted. It paints a country landscape where it makes me wonder of their past and I have no idea how they survived a climate of uncertainty. This was midsummer and it was a my moment, fleeting yet eternal, where beauty and sentiment intertwine. It is in this sacred space that my Art Cards are born. Each one is meticulously crafted, a testament to the belief that art is not merely to be seen, but to be felt, cherished, and woven into the tapestry of one's soul. Imagine presenting a card so exquisite, it captures not just your words but the very essence of your heart. This is more than a mere greeting; it is a keepsake, a tangible memory adorned with delicate strokes of color and emotion. Each Art Card is a small masterpiece, an offering that invites the receiver to linger, to savor the moment, and to embrace the sentiment within. As you hold this card, feel the texture of the paper, the richness of the design, know that it is more than a message; it is a piece of art ready to grace a wall, to be framed and cherished. It is a testament to the beauty of connection, a reminder that in the midst of life's busyness, we paused to honor what truly matters. May the one who receives it find in its beauty a reflection of your love, and in its artistry, a timeless gift to be treasured always. Let this Art Card be a beacon of joy, a symbol of enduring affection, forever transforming an ordinary moment into a cherished memory. Lansky Bros., the store with its beginnings on famous Beale Street in Downtown Memphis is proud to announce the release of their first book, “Lansky Brothers: Clothier to the King”. Customers and friends from around the world have been asking the Lansky family for years to see vintage pictures and detailed stories. The book chronicles nearly seventy years of the history of the Lansky’s business in Downtown Memphis with three generations telling its story. Lansky Brothers started with a humble beginning when brothers, Bernard and Guy, purchased a second-hand store on the corner of Beale and Second Street. The shop’s evolution is shown in detail as the photographs and stories span decades and takes us through quite a few fashion cycles. The Lansky family shares in depth how they became the Clothier to the King and details of their most famous customer, Elvis Presley. The book features never before seen photographs of Elvis in the Lansky store. Lansky Bros. was the store that defined the pink and black colors of the 1950s. And, over the course of the past seven decades has changed fashion directions. Currently, the Lansky presence can be found in the lobby of the famous Peabody Hotel in Downtown Memphis with four different concept shops and on Beale Street in the original location featuring Clothier to the King styles. Licensed by Elvis Presley Enterprises. **Books will be autographed by Bernard's son, Hal Lansky (2nd Generation).

INTRODUCING A PRACTICAL MODEL OF PLAY THERAPY FOR TRAUMATIZED CHILDREN Some of the most rewarding work a therapist can do is help a child recover from a traumatic event. But where to begin? A growing body of play therapy literature offers many specific techniques and a variety of theoretical models; however, many therapists are still searching for a comprehensive model of treatment that incorporates solid theoretical constructs with effective play therapy interventions. Clinicians have long recognized that trauma therapy is not just a matter of techniques but a journey with a beginning, middle, and end. In a pioneering contribution to the field, Play Therapy with Traumatized Children: A Prescriptive Approach, the author codifies the process in her model, Flexibly Sequential Play Therapy (FSPT). Integrating non-directive and directive approaches, this components-based model allows for the uniqueness of each child to be valued while providing a safe, systematic journey towards trauma resolution. The FSPT model demystifies play-based trauma treatment by outlining the scope and sequence of posttraumatic play therapy and providing detailed guidance for clinicians at each step of the process. Dramatically demonstrating the process of healing in case histories drawn from fifteen years of clinical practice with traumatized children, Play Therapy with Traumatized Children addresses: Creating a safe place for trauma processing Augmenting the child’s adaptive coping strategies and soothing his or her physiology Correcting the child’s cognitive distortions Ensuring that caregivers are facilitative partners in treatment Inviting gradual exposure to trauma content through play Creating developmentally sensitive trauma narratives Using termination to make positive meaning of the post-trauma self

Today was the day! We got to start our very first IB unit and this one is all about FAMILY! I started today by telling my kiddos we were going to talk about something that we all LOVE. They thought about it for a minute and one kid said, "Tacos?"......no not tacos, but I do love those too! Today was super simple but honestly about all we can handle in our 6th day of kindergarten. We still can't sit for very long! We started with an anchor chart about what families HAVE. Later in the unit we will fill in the "CAN LIVE IN A" when we talk about homes and "ARE" when we talk about cooperation at home (also discussing verbs). We started our books by coloring our covers and drawing a picture of our families. To make sure everyone was included and no one felt like their family was 'different' I really made sure to focus on the fact that all families are different and they should draw a picture of everyone that lives in their house. Including pets! This is my family! Now that we have talked about all of the people that make up our family we have these reference cards on new grammar wall. (well....new to this group) You know it was a good day if you run right home and blog about it! This was fun today. In half day kinder we rarely get these extra little moments. I work hard to make sure they happen! Thanks for stopping by today! If you would like to see this unit in my store check it out HERE! Save this post for later! Holy shamoley. I have been busy! It’s crazy how a new month sneaks up on you so fast! I’ve heard your e-mails and requests for the new calendar songs, and here they are! Monday and Tuesday of this week we are in professional development in our district. This morning we were “Google-ized” and learned about all of the fun Google apps we can use in our classroom. This afternoon, we were in literacy breakout sessions. In one of the sessions that I went to, they talked about this book: They showed a video clip from the DVD that accompanies the book of some guided writing. In the clip the teacher had a great little anchor chart to help kiddos that were struggling to find the right vowel sound. I knew instantly that I needed to re-create that chart! So, here you go! There is a large chart to hold up and a smaller one for kiddos to put in their writing folder. Hey, friends, leave a little comment when you download They make me so happy!
