The Fairy Flag is one of the treasures kept by the chief of Clan MacLeod, a Highland Scottish clan associated with the Isle of Skye. Today, the flag resides in Dunvegan Castle, the seat of the clan’s chief, on the Isle of Skye, and has been described as “rather tattered, made of faded brown silk and carefully darned in places”.
Illustration by Alexander Volborth, from “Der Elfenraub” by Marie-Charlotte Siedentopf, 1919.
Is this odd little fairy tale a story about feminine freedom or a darker tale about damsels in distress?

For the last two millennia, the Summer Court princess has always been the one to stop it.Now it's my turn.I've been preparing to become one thing my entire life: the perfect assassin. Fail my task and everyone and everything I've ever known and loved perishes.Or complete my mission and destroy the one thing I never knew I needed to survive: love.Number of pages: 384 pagesBook cover: Paperback
Do you remember Gordon Gekko's speech in the movie Wall Street? "The point is, ladies and gentleman, that greed, for lack of a better word, is good. Greed is right, greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through, and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Greed, in all of its forms; greed for life, for money, for love, knowledge has marked the upward surge of mankind." We were meant to be shocked by that speech. It was meant to change our way of thinking, but it doesn't seem to have done so. This satellite photograph shows what greed can do. Greedy intelligent executives of British Petroleum (BP) convinced folks that it was safe to drill for offshore oil, in the same vicinity as the Breton National Wildlife Refuge, and the Delta National Wildlife Refuge, and as a result, 42,000 gallons a day of crude oil are spilling into this beautiful area, from an offshore oil well that blew up and sank. When that oil slick lands on those beaches -- and it will -- that area will never be the same. Mother Nature keeps giving us wake-up calls, and we keep ignoring them. And we'll keep on ignoring them as long as there is greed.
