The timing of Pixar's new film, Monsters University, couldn't have been better. Perusing typical university webpages can be a bore for elementary students, but checking out Monsters University is a very different experience! First, we watched a message from the dean: After taking a quick pre-visit survey (you can download it here), students were free to explore the website to find out what college life is all about. I had 3 focus questions students were to investigate: What are some of the college entrance requirements? What are some of the clubs, activities, sports, and other social groups on this campus? What are some of the majors or classes you'd be interested in taking? I also attached some activity pages (that I found online in various places) where they could design their own student id, complete a maze and unscramble puzzle, wordsearch, campus maze, and sudoku puzzle.

Article courtesy of Joseph Maroon, MD, FACS Dr. Joseph Maroon, as a practicing Neurosurgery for over 30 years, has devoted his professional career to research and treating conditions that affect the brain, spine, muscles, joints and nerves. He has personally seen the effects of severe inflammation associated with spinal disc disease, tumors and chronic arthritic pain and deformities in his patients. Dr. Maroon firmly believes that one of the greatest scientific discoveries in the last 10 years is that excessive or chronic inflammation in our bodies is responsible for many of the chronic illnesses and diseases we face in our modern environment. A tremendous amount of scientific research sponsored by the National Institutes of Health, The American Heart Association and University Research Centers has shown this critical link of excessive inflammation in our bodies to conditions such as Alzheimeru2019s Disease, Coronary artery disease, Heart Attacks, Stroke, Joint problems and many more chronic conditions.
