Hello teachers-- The SuperHERO Teacher here! Extreme Makeover Classroom Edition is my way of giving back to the teaching community and providing deserving educators with the classroom environment I know every teacher wishes for their students.
Hey everyone! We hope you are getting some good ideas from our posts so far! Today we are talking about our classroom countertop makeover! (We know you already got a sneak peak of them in the pictures from our last post, but here are the deets!) Check out the before and after! Can you say MAJOR TRANSFORMATION?! We LOVE how they turned out! Last year's makeover project was our chalkboard cupboards, and because we ran out of time to do our countertops, we had a little Halloween color scheme going on with our cute black cupboards and ORANGE counter tops! Ew! So...you better bet those bad boys were our first project this summer! If your countertops are needing some extra lovin' like ours: Go to your local Lowes or HomeDepot and get the following supplies: This is the paint that we purchased for about $20 at Lowes. It is tintable to 16 different colors. We chose the "Light Ash" shade for ours. This Countertop Paint is SUPER durable, and you don't even have to do a primer before! We did 2 coats on our countertops to ensure full coverage. We also purchased our rollers, trays, and roller covers at Lowes (they came in a little set for less than $6!) We also got some extra roller covers, which did come in handy! AND...although this paint is AMAZING, it is SOOO potent! (No exaggeration...you could smell our rooms all throughout the school!) To prevent becoming high as a kite, you will need one (or more) of these: Here are more pictures of the final product: Keep checking back to see our next big step towards our "EXTREME MAKEOVER...CLASSROOM EDITION!" Thanks for following! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to comment below or email us at [email protected]! -Kassidy & Emily

These 20 nature themed group numbers were designed for Extreme Makeover Classroom Edition (2017) in hopes that the students would feel as though they were studying in the beautiful outdoors! Hello teachers! I designed these for Extreme Makeover Classroom Edition (2017). The idea was to make the students feel like they were studying outside in nature– hence the nature themed group numbers! I also included some additional free group numbers with terrariums (that I had originally planned to use). DIRECTIONS: 1. Print the number of group numbers needed and laminate them (laminating is not necessary, but they will last longer if you do). 2. Cut out all of the group numbers around the black border. 3. Using a popsicle stick, glue the group numbers (back to back) on the stick and wait until dry. 4. I put my group numbers in fake potted plants that I found at Home Goods and Ikea! You can put yours in anything you’d like! 5. If you don’t have groups daily, try using them for stations! In this episode of Extreme Makeover Rainbow Classroom Edition, I will give you my top five tips for creating a bright and inviting space of your own!
This bulletin board is designed to help students motivate each other throughout the school year. The interactive component makes this resource purposeful in that it gives students a task to complete and helps create a positive community. This product works well for upper elementary, middle, and high school students. I designed this bulletin board for Extreme Makeover Classroom Edition and it was a huge hit! Not only is it bright, vibrant, and visually appealing, but it encourages students to be KIND to each other and motivate one another to learn perseverance! If you're teaching GROWTH MINDSET this is a perfect bulletin for you! NOTE: I have this resource in 20+ different themes!!! If you're looking for a different theme to match your classroom decor, click HERE! This product includes: -44 nature themed Polaroid cards with famous inspirational/motivational quotes -44 BLANK Polaroid cards for students to write their own words of encouragement -"Take what you need, give what you can" bulletin board letters -Detailed teacher examples -Classroom examples What is the purpose of this bulletin board? This board is designed to encourage students to motivate one another using famous inspirational quotes as well as their own words of encouragement. How does the bulletin board work? There are 44 polaroid cards with famous quotes on them and 44 polaroid cards without quotes. To begin, post all of the cards with quotes on the board. Throughout the year, if a student needs some inspiration or motivation, they can head over to the board and take a quote. The catch is this: if a student takes a quote, they must replace it with their own! By the end of the school year, students will be inspired by their own classmates’ quotes! What’s the best way to display this bulletin board? In the photo examples, I used twine and clothes pins to attach the polaroid quote cards to the wall. I displayed the words “TAKE WHAT YOU NEED” on the top of the board and “GIVE WHAT YOU CAN” at the bottom of the board. You could also use push pins, paper clips or Velcro to attach the quotes. I used a wooden crate to display the blank cards! Check out what other teachers, just like you, are saying about this resource: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Such an incredible yet easy bulletin board! My students love it. If I see a student having a tough day, I'll pick some motivation for them. It's also a beautiful set!" -Dino Math Teacher ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "This bulletin board has brought a lot of student lead conversations regarding SEL. It has been a great resource to build the classroom community." -Ricardo C. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "This is an amazing piece. The students look forward to using it all day. It is really amazing to see how they respond to each other and the positivity that they show towards each other. We have used this for 2 years now and will continue to use!" -Elizabeth J. Brittany Wheaton, aka The SuperHERO Teacher, shares her insider tips on how to give your classroom an Insta-worthy makeover.
I have been eating, drinking, sleeping and dreaming around the preparation of my classroom this past week! I am pretty sure that I should have just moved a sleeping bag in for the night to save myself some time! BUT...I am proud to say...I am about four banners, a few labels, and one front door decoration away from having the entire classroom rockin' and rollin' for my sweet second graders next Monday! {OK, so basically...I still have some work to do but it is getting there...wait...is that the hallelujah chorus I hear?!?} In all seriousness, it really hasn't been that bad and has actually been a tremendous amount of fun pulling it all together. I must say, I have had some crazy amazing helpers! About 10 of my cross country kids came on Thursday to cut and cut and CUT!!!! {They must love me is all I can say!} :) They were so wonderful and a few of them even came back on Friday asking for more! Are they CRAZY?!? And of course my super duper crazier than I am Mother has been there every step of the way! She is a craft genius and adds her little touch of spunk all over my room. At times I have to pull out the teacher voice on my own mother and say "No Mom...We are DONE!" I swear she has more energy than my 18 kids put together and would go for days! I just love her! Now, before I show you pictures, let me just say... I. Need. A. CAMERA!!!! My dear old friend bit the dust a few weeks ago and I have been using the phone on my BlackBerry {a.k.a. "crackberry"} religiously! Although I love my dear BlackBerry, the pictures...well...not so much! So, please don't let the crazy lighting stand in your way of enjoying this little peek into my classroom and contrary to what you may see in the pictures, I do not actually have a layer of dust three inches thick surrounding my room. On some of these pictures, I swear the lighting makes my classroom look like is 100 years old! BUT...that is not the point now is it?!? :) So, enjoy these little snapshots of my teaching world and if you are planning to rock out with your students this year, I hope that some of my ideas can assist you in your decorating needs! Classroom Tour Our Guided Reading and small group math area! I am pretty excited about this cozy little spot and the fact that I have such a large area to display strategy posters and content vocabulary. I am using my glitter clothespins to hang posters, anchor charts, vocabulary words ect. to make it easy to change things up! Up close and personal! "In the Spotlight" {still missing a title} bulletin board that will feature social studies and science content words for the week. Yes, the camera actually "flashes" thanks to my mother! I told you...she is overflowing with awesomeness {wait...is that a word?} :) And no, the camera will not be flashing 24/7...180! It is a special occasion kind of flash! Beboppin' Birthdays...Ready for my students' pictures! Our math area: The majority of my math instruction is small group {most of the time by ability level}. I supplement my instruction with math tubs and I also include something that I call "Pump Up...Power Practice". I will post more about this later. Basically, it is a drill and practice type of activity where the memorization of basic skills (addition facts, subtraction facts, time, money, place value) is heavily enforced and constantly reviewed. The students get to choose which manipulative (dice, dominoes, puzzle pieces, dice shakers, math chips, etc.) they would like to use to complete their activity. These activities build the students' confidence by enhancing their abilities. They love, love, LOVE to get pumped up about math during this time! Student Work Area + Chapter Book Library Our Classroom Library Our little library has several parts. The chapter book rack that you saw earlier, books leveled by topic (in the colorful buckets), and our books in the spotlight (red shelf). I am using a clothespin checkout system this year to reinforce proper care and return of books in our classroom. The students will clip their clothespin on the basket that holds their book. When they are ready to return the book, they place it back into the correct basket and remove their clothespin. I also have a leveled book library in my classroom. The students get to choose a new book each day to take home for nightly reading practice. You can download my book bin labels HERE! Rock Star of the Week Wall I still have a little work to do here, but you get the idea. The students picture will go in the frame and I will highlight some of their "Rockin' Work" below. ipod Cubby Numbers You can download these little cuties HERE! Classroom Shots My jammin' guitar is going to say "Rock and Roll in Second Grade" A little peek at "THE RUNWAY!" Outside Wall Display The students will be creating their very own Hollywood Star to add to the wall. Well...that is it! I am getting so close to being completely finished and ready to ROCK OUT! I hope that you have enjoyed the little tour of my classroom! Happy Sunday sweet bloggy friends!
