This set contains 4 weeks of morning work for the month of February. The math is aligned to 6th Grade Common Core Standards and meant to be a review. Each week follows the same routine and structure. Mathematician Monday- Multiplication & Division, Whole Numbers & Decimals, Expressions & Equations, Problem-Solving, Ratios & Rates Statistics Tuesday: Whole Numbers & Decimals, Rational Numbers, Statistics & Probability Wordless Wednesday: No Word Problems! Students have 3 problems without words. Multiplication & Division, Expressions & Equations, Throwback Thursday: Relationships Between Variables, Geometry, Graphs, Coordinate Planes, Units of Measure Fraction Friday: Nothing says Fun Friday like Fractions! Fractions, Percent I created this resource in my own classroom because I saw a need to continuously review these key areas. By following this same structure each week, students know what to expect while they are also building their confidence in these essential math areas. I have also found several other benefits from this morning work routine: 1)Routine!-My students knew exactly what to do when they come in the classroom. Also, if I needed a few extra minutes due to meetings or other housekeeping duties, I knew my students were spending that time working on essential math skills, not just “busy work.” The morning work is meant to be short and sweet, skill practice, plus engaging. 2)Short & Sweet- There are only a few problems so it shouldn’t take longer than 10 minutes. This will also let you know if students are still having difficulty with a certain skill. 3)Fewer Copies- Only one sheet of paper for the whole week! (Copy front and back) 4)A Weekly Grade-My students know this and do not want to do the work for homework or have a poor grade. This helped get them started right away in the morning. I also go over the problems each morning and allowed students to fix their work before turning it in. In my opinion, this is beneficial because it keeps the students engaged as we go over it, ESPECIALLY if they had difficulty with it. This was also beneficial for students because if they paid attention and “added on to their thinking,” they can earn a good grade that will be added weekly. For students that already struggle, this is confidence building and motivating. Digital The Math Daily Review comes as a printable pdf and in a digital format. The digital format includes Google Slides and self-grading Google Forms. The links for both of these are on a separate Google Slides: The Google Slides are organized into a weekly presentation. Each day is on one slide. Some teachers like to separate out the slides to share them on a daily basis. You are able to do this if you don't want to give students a whole week at a time. Google Forms: With the Google Forms, each day has its own Google Form.🛑 Are you a member of the TLL Membership? These materials are already included. This book has been written with the idea of providing the fundamentals for those who are interested in the field of heat transfer to non-Newtonian uids. It is well recognized that non-Newtonian fluids are encountered in a number of transport processes and estimation of the heat transfer characteristics in the presence of these fl uids requires analysis of…
This phone was a great addition to our interactive notebooks and helped students remember the steps for solving equations. When you pass them out, be prepared for students to put them to their ear and actually try to make a call - oh teenagers! I have included two versions, the simple one shown above and one that gives the details of each step. I love sending students back to this page when they need a reminder later in the school year or when we do multi-step inequalities. Download pdf of Solving Equations Phone (three to page) We glued the phone all the way to the side of the page in their interactive notebook and did some multi-step equations right next to it. Here are some more ideas and activities for solving equations.

Of all the areas of math, our 10-year-old isn't especially fond of geometry. To give him a little extra protractor practice, I thought up this angles game. Anytime he has the chance to beat me, his attitude is "bring it" so I knew this would pique his interest. What You Need to Play PDF of the Earth game board and angles cards Paper Protractor plastic sheet protectors (optional) Pencil (or if using sheet protectors, fine-tip dry-erase markers) Assembly Download the PDF free from Google Drive here. Print one Earth for each player (or team if you're doing this as a classroom activity). Print two or more copies of the angles cards. Cut out and shuffle. If you anticipate playing over and over, slide the Earth pictures into a plastic sheet protector. This make your game boards dry-erase. How to Play With the cards shuffled and placed faced down, each player takes a card on their turn and then lining up the protractor with the start line, draws in the angle stated on the card. On their next turn, the reference line becomes the line just drawn, instead of the start. The first player to get all around the world (i.e. past the start line) is declared the winner of the race! Read This math activity got us thinking about what life was like in different places across the globe. To further our understanding of cultures and time zones, we read a wonderful book that lead us on a journey that only took a single moment in time.

This week we tackled the challenge of balancing equations. They handled it like champs! First, I had them pretend that they were a scale as we all stood with our arms out. I put two numbers on the board and we all tilted to show which one was more or less. Then I brought in the equal sign and the word balanced. I emphasized that all the equal sign means is that one side is the same as the other. I wrote 2 + ___ = 5 on the board. Then I had them come up with ideas of how we might solve this. I asked: How can we BALANCE this equation? Some ideas were to draw dots, use a number line, use a hundreds chart or to count on. Someone also mentioned our missing number song. For this, we use a part - part - total mat and some red dots. The song goes like this: After we sung our song, I gave them a worksheet I made to help them balance equations.
