Hi friends! A couple of years ago I designed this super easy knit top and wanted to share it again with you today. So many of you have written to me
A simple striped top that can make your fingering weight yarns shine. The top is knit with two skeins of handdyed yarn, of which one is partly dyed, and one skein of undyed yarn. Instead of an undyed skein it is also possible to use a color that is present in one of the other yarns. This will make the stripes blend together. Stockinette and garter stripes give it an interesting texture. The top has an easy construction, knit in two squares and then sewn together. If wanted, the length and width can be easily adjusted. Choose a size with no ease or slight positive ease for a loose fit. Sizes S (M, L) Finished Bust Sizes 88 (96, 104)cm/ 34.5 (38, 41)” Gauge 23 stitches x 34 rows per 4”/10cm, blocked, in alternately 4 row garter - 4 row stockinette stitch. Yarn 3 skeins of fingering weight yarn in 3 different colors. A total of 520 (735, 960)m/ 569 (804, 1050) yds of fingering weight yarn. Yarn used in the sample is The Fox and the Knight - Yak Knight, a blend of 60% superwash merino, 20% yak and 20% silk, with 366m (400yds) per 100 gram.

The Fluffy Crop Top is a light and airy, simple top in brioche knitting. It is knit top down in a double strand of silk mohair, so it drapes beautifully and is not too hot on a summer day. You do not need many techniques to complete this top, so it is also suitable for beginners in brioche knitting. Sizes: 34 (36) 38 (40) 42 (44)“ Your bust measurement: 78-84 (85-89) 90-95 (96-102) 103-112 (113-120) cm Bust measurement (finished garment): 92 (98) 104 (110) 117 (126) cm The top is supposed to be rather short, but you can easily add extra centimeters, if you want it in a regular length. Choose a size that gives you a positive ease from around 11 cm – if you want the top to fit a little tighter, go down a size, if you want it a bit looser, go up a size. Recommended yarn: 75 (75) 100 (100) 125 (125) g“Kid Silk”from Drops Design (210 m/25g). The colour vanilla has been used for the sample on the front page. Alternative yarn: 75 (75) 100 (100) 125 (125) g “Tilia” by Filcolana (210 m/25g). Note: If you want to knit your top longer, than stated in the pattern, you will need to have an extra ball of yarn. Gauge swatch: Remember to wash and block your gauge swatch, because brioche knitting tends to stretch out after wash. It should measure: 13 sts x 34 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm in brioche with a double strand of silk mohair. Note: 34 rows appear as 17 sts in brioche, when you count them. Recommended needles: 4,5 mm: 60 cm or 80 cm circular needles. Note: As a “one-woman-show” I translate all my patterns myself. As a native German speaker, minor grammar mistakes in both the English and Danish patterns can occur. The patterns have been test knitted, so you should be good to go - if you have any questions or problems with the understanding, don’t hesitiate to contact me at [email protected] - Thank you so much for your support!

The thistle has been the national emblem of Scotland for centuries. It is featured in many Scottish symbols and even on UK currency. According to one of the best-known thistle legend, in the mid 13th century, Viking forces landed on the coast of Scotland. During the night raid, one of their soldiers’ bare feet came down on a Scottish thistle. His shout warned the Scots who defeated the enemy at the Battle of Largs, thus saving Scotland from Norsemen’s invasion. The Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle is the Scottish order of knighthood. Its modern period dates from King James VII of Scotland (James II of England), who revived it in 1687. As with many orders of chivalry, its origins lie much further back in time. The Order’s primary emblem is the thistle, the national flower of Scotland. The motto is “Nemo me impune lacessit” (Latin for “No one provokes me with impunity”). The same motto appears on the Royal Coat of Arms of the United Kingdom for the use in Scotland and on some pound coins. This prickly purple flower itself, the legends associated with it, along with a large number of thistle drawings, ornaments, and jewelry inspired me to create this shawl. I offer you a triangular Fair Isle shawl. It is knitted with a steek, in the round from bottom tip up. When your shawl has reached the desired length, the steek should be reinforced and cut open; folded and tucked down facing will cover the cut edges. There is a section of short rows, where you will have to work your Fair Isle pattern flat, knitting it on the right side of the work and purling on the wrong side. In knitting, a steek itself is a group of extra 6-12 sts that are for future cutting. The first and the last stitches of the steek (the edges of the steek) are always worked with the same color (I prefer to use a background color) as it makes it easier to pick up stitches for the finishing along these lines. The stitches in between the edges are worked in a ‘chequerboard’ pattern that allows them to stick better to each other. Recommended yarn: Pure sheep wool 100g/350-400 m (fingering/sock weight). You will need yarn of two different colors - main color (MC) for the background, and contrast color (CC) for the pattern - approximately 350-400 g of each color. I recommend to choose two solid colors; as, in my opinion, variegated yarn would not work well for this design. However, you may try and find your own way. For the embroidered flowers in the center element of the shawl, I used leftover bits of Knoll Soft Donegal tweed - it took less than 10 g. You may use mouline embroidery thread, or any other yarn or thread of suitable weight and color. Optionally, you may incorporate beads in your knitting. You want to be absolutely certain that your yarn wouldn’t bleed! Check the color fastness of the yarn with a swatch. Needles and Notions: Knitting needles 2.5 - 3.5 mm (double-pointed and circular); spare needles/cables; stitch markers; scissors; 1.75 mm crochet hook; tapestry needle; beads (optional). Difficulty level - high. Skills required: Knit and purl in Fair Isle (stranded colorwork) technique, both flat and in the round; short rows knitting; pick up stitches along edges; picot edge knitting; embroidery on knitting. For those who are new to steeking: you may be frightened by the idea of cutting a knitted fabric. But when everything has been done right, you will be excited with the result! (The Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle) — рыцарский орден, связанный с Шотландией. Девиз ордена Nemo me impune lacessit (с лат.
