I recently hand quilted this lovely Warm Hearted quilt. I just love the vintage quilt vibe, and I'm so glad I gave myself permission to spend more time with it!
This sale is for one PDF file, not a finished product. This file is printable and allows you to make your own sheets of simple-to-sew 6" star blocks. Just use a regular white copy paper and print at 100%. Print as many as you need for a project! Cut along the outermost dashed lines - this is precision drafted by me and the block is made to measure to exactly 6" if printed at fullsize/100% with no reducing, along with a 1/4" joining allowance. There is a one inch test square on each sheet. This is a no-frills block - no instructions included so it assumes you already know how to use a foundation paper piecing pattern. Just start at piece 1 and work your way around to piece number 5. Use up those scraps! After sewing the pieces in place, use a rotary cutter to cut along the dashed outer border - that will allow for a 1/4" seam allowance when piecing multiple blocks together. Included are two bonus coloring sheets to help you plan your fabrics/patterns. Please feel free to convo me if you have any questions - I check in daily and I'm happy to help! Because it's a digital product, no returns, please.

The Duchess was designed as a Cake & Ale pattern for Make Modern Magazine, this bit sized craft project is perfect for a weekend craft project or as a thoughtful gift for one of your sewing buddies. She is the perfect size to hold your every day necessaries, I keep my piecing needles, thimble, thread and a few quilt clips in mine, saves getting out a bulky sewing box for your quick sit down projects. The Duchess also makes an EXCELLENT enclosed pincushion, no more accidentally stabbed fingers when you are rummaging for a pin or needle! SVG's are available for this project at www.cakeandale.com.au Finished Size - 3½" Wide x 3 ½" Deep x 3" High. This PDF includes; • Basic “how to” EPP Instructions. • 52 print at home templates. • Full assembly instructions. From your stash you will need; • 1 x Fat ¼’s worth of fabric. (or a mix of scrap fabrics). • Glue baste E.g. Sewline (glue sticks also work in a pinch). • Needle and sewing thread. • General sewing supplies. • Thimble (optional). • Card stock or office paper and a laminator. • Craft safety knife and ruler or sharp paper scissors. DIFFICULTY LEVEL: A lot easier than you would think, an adventurous beginner would be fine. *** SVG Files are available for this design from our main website www.cakeandale.com.au *** This pattern is available for purchase for $10.00AUD from our company website. Welcome to Cake & Ale! Our mission is all about combining the charm of traditional quilting with a fresh, modern twist. We're here to bring you patterns that you can lovingly handcraft using techniques passed down through generations. But guess what? You don't need to dedicate weeks to these projects – you can finish them up in just one weekend! Now, if you're new to the world of hand sewing, don't worry. We've got your back. We're all about something called English Paper Piecing (EPP). This technique involves wrapping fabric around paper templates, kind of like creating a snug little fabric hug around them. This gives you the foundation to create these seriously intricate and spot-on shapes. Once you've got these fabric-covered templates, it's like putting together a puzzle. You stitch them up, piece by piece, to form a work of art that looks like you spent ages on it. It's like magic, but with needle and thread. So, whether you're a seasoned stitcher or just dipping your toes into the world of hand sewing, we're here to provide you with patterns that marry tradition and innovation. Get ready to create pieces that will leave everyone thinking you're a crafting rockstar – all in the span of a weekend! *** FAQ's *** Do you I need a laminator? No you don't, this is just a technique you can use if your printer does not like printing on card stock (like mine). What weight card stock is best? If you can print on card we recommend that a stock 220GSM - 300GSM be used, it needs enough bulk to hold the sides up but you also need to work within your own comfort zone. Do I really leave the papers in? YES!! Unlike traditional EPP our card stock templates stay in permanently. This is what creates, and holds the structure of our unique patterns together.
Kismet Kiss Patchwork Block Pattern Designed by Lulu Well for Sunspell Kismet Kiss is made by hand and includes template shapes for construction. Instructions are for finished block measuring 8" square (8 1/2" with seam allowance). This PDF is beginner-intermediate friendly but requires basic knowledge on how to hand piece. This purchase comes with whole quilt colouring diagram. ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE SEND ME A MESSAGE :) I might take a day or two to reply, but I will get back to you. Please note: version 1 of this pattern had a glitch with a black square, which some people left some 1 star reviews about, but this has now been fixed! REQUIREMENTS: Because of the scrappy nature of this quilt, you want a large variety in small pieces! Scraps are great but to help you calculate, 1 block requires 1 x Fat 16th of fabric. There are 16 x Fat 16th per metre/yard of fabric. So, 48 blocks would require a total of 3 m/yd (but a little extra never goes astray!) You will also need general hand piecing equipment including sandpaper board, ¼” ruler, marking pencil, Templastic or cardboard, thread, scissors and other general sewing requirements like pins. No refunds.
