A tour of the new Enzo Ferrari museum in Modena, Italy
We’ve been in New Zealand for nearly two weeks now and I’m completely in love with the place. It’s actually ridiculous how beautiful it is. I’ve been likening it to a theme …

Our wooden fishing rods are equipped with a reel and a magnet housed at the end of the float so that your children can sharpen their reflexes and their dexterity by catching some wooden fish, while also helping them discover the underwater life and learn colors while playing peacefully. The wooden fish are included and have 5 different shapes and colors. A base for storing the toy when not in use is also included with the rod. The fishing rods are stained and treated with ecological and biodegradable products certified for use on toys. All our toys are made by hand and with passion in our small country shop in Québec, Canada. Thanks to one of our clients for sharing these "Paper Crane Studios" pictures with us. ---------- [History] Fishing exists since the edge of time. Our distant ancestors were armed with harpoons, but angling was invented over 16 000 years ago. Ancient Egyptians invented fishing rods and nets 4000 years ago et these tools are still being used today, though the modern fishing rod changed a lot : reels did not appear before the 17th century and our great-grandfathers rods were made out of bamboo or aluminium. By the 20th century, fiberglass rods and more appeared. Nowadays, carbon fiber has taken over thanks to its lightness and resistance. ---------- [Shipping] 1. I pretty much start dreaming up ideas for first birthdays from the moment they start crawling. I'm weird like that. But when their personalities start coming out, it's so fun to dream about ways to celebrate them. If you've been around for a while, you know Jettson's... #Birthday #cake #family
Be sure to check out the rest of our trip to Italy Part 1 – Rome | Part 2 – Pompeii and Positano | Part 3 – Tuscany and Florence I’m sad this is my last blog post from Italy, I love looking back at all the images we took! The last two cities we visited in Italy were Portofino and Venice. I actually booked Portofino by accident, thinking I was booking a hotel outside the Cinque Terre. It ended up being a 3 hours drive difference, so we headed straight to Portofino after leaving Pisa. On our way to the hotel, we were stopped by a road block turning away all traffic from Portofino. We were informed the city was full for the day and we would have to walk into the city. Since we had a hotel registration, we were able to drive in. It was really nice not having to share the road with a lot of traffic like the Amalfi coast. Once at the hotel, we headed straight to the beach. Our hotel had a small beach bar and beach area right across the street. After the beach, we headed into town to explore. We were only spending one night here because of my accidental booking. The town was a five minute walk from our hotel and it was beautiful! Colin and I headed up to view Portofino from the church while my mom did some shopping. It was definitely one of the best views we have seen. We then went in search for a place to enjoy aperitivo, basically a happy hour. We picked a place closest to the water, a floating dock with tables and chairs. The water was so clear, we could see everything on the sea floor and hundreds of fish! We all ordered Aperol Spritz and had a nice big plate of finger foods to enjoy. We ended the day by getting dinner and calling it an early night. We didn’t take the camera with us, so I only have a few images from our phone here. After leaving Portofino, we started to make our six hour drive to Venice. I must confuse, I probably slept half the way, so thanks Colin for all the driving! We stopped half way in a small town to visit the Ferrari Enzo Museum. This was high on Colin’s list, so we had to do it! Even if you aren’t into cars, it’s a nice museum to visit. Colin was also able to take our rental car on a local race track and take it for a spin. Once outside Venice, we dropped our car off at the rental place and caught a ferry into the city center. If you have the money, I highly suggest taking a water taxis. All the ferries we took were over crowded and everyone was very rude. Not a very pleasing experience. Plus, our hotel was so far from the drop off. Try carrying 3 suitcases through shoulder to shoulder crowds, while going up and down stairs. So awful. Anyway, our hotel was super nice. We were greeted with drinks and snacks in the room and just relaxed from our arrival, haha. That night we headed to Doge’s Palace and bought a museum pass, which we used for the rest of the trip. The next morning we headed to Murano and Burano. Murano is known for glass works and Burano for lace. We took an early ferry to the islands and still had to wait in the line for an hour. We grabbed lunch in Burano in the smallest restaurant ever. It was packed with people and had no air conditioner, but it was yummy! Colin and I decided to get up early to take some images and explore before the crowds. All of Venice was completely empty and quiet. Along our walk, we passed by Venice Hospital. It was very cool seeing all the water ambulances and docks. We had a few hours before we needed to head to the airport, so we grabbed the first gondola we saw and took a small tour! Even if it is a little pricey, you have to experience it for yourself. Related posts: Italy Part 3: Tuscany and Florence Italy Part 1: Rome Italy Part 2: Pompeii and Positano
Something fun and delicious to make? Sushi Donuts maybe? ?? To make: 4 cups cooked Sushi rice, 1 cup rice wine vinegar, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 cup Mirin. Then take out a small handful of rice and stuff it in the donut form. Then carefully turn the donut form upside down, and there are the Sushi donuts. As for toppings, you can add carrot stripes, avocado slices, pickled ginger, cucumber, nori stripes, chopped chives, sesame, fish or egg if you prefer. Anything you like! To make vegan Ponzu sauce: zest and juice of 2 lemons and 2 limes, 1/4 rice vinegar, 3/4 cup soy sauce, 1/4 cup sake (gently heated to cook off alcohol), 1/4 cup brown rice syrup.
