Moscow-based fabric artist and designer Katerina Marchenko stitches brightly colored threads into tulle to form elaborate embroidered images of animals, portraits, and anatomical studies. In their hoops, Marchenko’s pieces work as framed thread paintings. Bird and angel wings appear to have dimension and human eyes pop thanks to the artist’s attention to color harmony and shading. Marchenko skips the sketching phase and starts each new piece with contours before allowing improvisation and the process itself to dictate what the final design will look like. More

You will need to extract the files before they can be used. If you have any problems please contact me. I have tried to make all my designs to work on most machines, however, the final result can depend on your particular sewing machine model, the thread that you use, fabric, stabilizer, and tension. I recommend that you make a trial sewing sample with your file before sewing on the final material, and contact me if you need adjustments with density or pull. I will do everything in my power to help you get your file working, but due to the digital nature of the service that I provide, I cannot offer money back. This is an Embroidery Machine Pattern only. It is NOT a patch. You must have an embroidery machine in order to use this pattern. Please contact me prior to buying with any questions. F1
Even though drones are not such a new thing any more, it is still spectacular to see the nature photos and videos that are taken using them. Not only is nature beautiful in and of itself, but this also gives us, wingless beings, a chance to see what birds see on the daily.

Yes. I'm the kind of art geek that takes a photo of the show statement because...well...the statement says it much better than I could paraphrase or summarize. I'll let you in on another little secret - what took to me this exhibit was the prospect of seeing more of Dorothy Caldwell's work. She is the one, after all, who has turned mending into art in our time. The Japanese have been doing it for centuries with their exquisite boro, yet boro was done for functional purposes, not artistic ones. As with each exhibit I've viewed so far, there has been a handful of works that spoke to me, captured my attention and creative imagination, grabbed me and didn't want to turn loose. The same was true of Ilaria Margutti's magnificent Mend of Me series. Her web site is in Italian, but the photos of her work transcend any spoken language. To view my photos in a larger format, just double click on the one you want to view. Enjoy!
We humans have the unique ability to take something ordinary and add a little extra to it. While this interest of ours has culminated in a myriad of decorative art forms, embroidery is one of those that we've invested most of our time and effort in.

Through a luxuriant series of embroideries, Litli Ulfur translates thick landscapes into lush entanglements of brown and green stitches. The abstract forms consider the intricacies of nature through an aerial perspective, contrasting micro- and macro-views in every inch. Each piece is created organically and uniquely, ensuring no two are alike. The textured works are inspired by natural sources, like jungly forests and the human nervous system, that are reflected through French knots, tufts, and flat patches. More
