I did learned this technique from my co-worker Jayne, who taught it during summer school last year. I think drawing on tin foil is a unique experience for kids that can be done using a variety of themes! My third and fourth graders had a great time making these abstract drawings using Sharpie markers on tin foil. To prepare the surface, pull out a sheet of tin foil and carefully flatten it on to a piece of cardboard or matboard. … Read more... →

These coffee filter butterflies are such a classic craft! I love how easy they are to make and how the bright colours of the Mr. Sketch markers blend together to make gorgeous looking butterfly wings! (Don't worry, you can use regular washable markers too). Do you remember Mr. Sketch markers from when you were a kid? I was walking down the craft aisle at Walmart last year and saw them on display -- I was so excited to see that they still make them! Hello all, Long time no blog! So, I thought I'd start off gently (for my benefit really) and talk about a quilt I've started. It's 'The Kittens' by Elizabeth Hartman. I'm not generally very good at following patterns, but this one has been a dream. It really is very easy to follow. Very clear cutting and piecing instructions. I'm really happy with the results. I've got quite a few more to make but you can really get a wriggle on once you've got the pieces cut. You may have noticed in the first photo that shows my lovely new sewing machine - a new Janome Memory Craft 6700 P. It's really nice. The big throat makes it a real dream to use. That's all for now. I'll be back soon. If you want to see what I'm up to more regularly please follow me on Instragram as 'sarahtextileart'
