Egon Schiele, (1890-1918), Austrian🎨 Expressionist painter, draftsman and printmaker noted for the eroticism of his figurative works. As a student at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts (1907-09), Schiele was strongly influenced by the Jugendstil movement, the German Art Nouveau. He met Gustav Klimt🎨, leader of the Vienna Sezession group, and the linearity and subtlety of Schiele’s work owe much to Klimt’s decorative elegance.

Posições rudes, violentas, a matéria do quadro (a tinta) se mostrando como tal, juntas com o amplo aproveitamento da sexualidade e da exposição de corpos femininos - que não são representados nos moldes clássicos - fazem com que o artista torne certo desconforto aos olhos de muita gente, até hoje. Prostitutas, trabalhadoras, magras e andróginas, essas mulheres substituem moldes clássicos como as diversas vênus dos séculos anteriores. Segundo G. C. Argan, um renomado historiador e pensador da arte, "somente a arte, como trabalho criativo, poderá realizar o milagre de converter em belo o que a sociedade perverteu em feio". O sexo, o nu, a sexualidade, e a mulher como naturalmente provida de órgãos e desejos sexuais, seriam uma dessas perversões da sociedade. O austríaco conheceu Gustav Klimt (grande artista que se destacou na Art Nouveau) aos 17 anos, e foi de certa forma um protegido dele. Klimt o ajudava comprando trabalhos e o introduzindo ao meio da arte, além de influenciá-lo com a temática ao mesmo tempo melancólica e carnal, e de mergulho na sensualidade feminina. Egon Schiele
. As mentioned before, Petrus Christus' Portrait of a Young Girl. (c. 1470), is one of my favorite portraits, & like other great portraits she takes much abuse by would be artists, and commercialism. I'll not add to her debauchery by including any of them here. She is-perfection, and gratefully there are some perfect homages to her. I've always felt Picasso-whose paintings of Velasquez's Las Meninas (there are 57) was a true acolyte of the master- in praise of that painting-a deconstruction of its complexity. As to a Christus redux-there is no such Picasso- but here- in his 1954 portrait of Sylvette Davis, he's playing with her. The shape of the truncated hennin worn by our Young Girl emphasizes Sylvette's beautiful face and hair & her sloe-eyes seen to imitate Christus's sitter. In accord with Picasso & his "menina" complex-another celebrated Spaniard Manolo Valdes paints the maids over-and over. Not only Velasquez-but as it turns out Petrus Christus' Young Girl...has been a subject for Valdes. It's no surprise then that Valdes gives our Young Girl all the reverence found in his las meninas. Wenen is de stad van Klimt en Schiele. Voor mij twee grote kunstenaars van rond 1900. Wenen kent van beide de grootste verzamelingen. Klimt in het Belvedere en Schiele in het Leopold Museum. Gustav Klimt zijn werken zijn overbekend uit alle mogelijke plaatjseboeken. Maar geen afbeelding haalt het bij het echte werk. Dan vallen de twijfels in een klap weg. Het goud en de decoratieve schildertrant zijn puur en geen kitsch. Om stil van te worden. Dit ontwerp voor een affiche is zo gedurfd. Het lege vlak drukt de voorstellingen naar de rand. En het werkt. De mensen staan stil voor het grote doek. Hun ogen schieten van links naar rechts. De fotocamera's klikken om je heen. Velen kijken een tweede, een derde keer. Het werk is als een altaarstuk. Er zijn verschillende versies van Judith. Haar triomfantelijke lach, haar koele erotiek als van Caterine Deneuve en dan bijna weggestopt het hoofd van Holofernes. Het gaar deze Judith niet om de bevrijding van haar stad. Het gaat haar om een pervers genot. Het werk van Egon Schiele blijft fascinerend. Zijn aparte manier van afbeelden met de gehoekte lijven en handen, de erotiek die in zijn werk aanwezig is, smullen Bijna abstract is dit werk. Een dode boom meer niet, maar wat een spanning in de vormgeving. Verrassend, nog beter dan zijn straatjes.
