At our school it's customary to keep artwork at school until the of the school year. Students make a portfolio in june to take their work home. On front of it is a drawing in the style of one of the art movements we studied that year. In 2021-2022 it was pop art. These are the grade 6 portfolio folders with a self portrait in the style of Roy Lichtenstein. You need: For the folder: paper A1 size, folded in half For the drawing: white drawing paper A4 size markers skin color pencils fine marker in black Show artwork of Lichtenstein and discuss the important features: use of primary colors (sometimes with green), grid dots, black outlines, speech bubbles and slogans (onomatopoeia). contents portfolio folder grade 6 How? Draw a self portrait on the small sheet. Add a text in a speech bubble that suits you. Color your face using skin color pencils. Use markers for the rest of your drawing. Fill one part of your drawing with dots. Fill the background with a pattern. Outline everything with a black marker. Past e your work on the large sheet. Draw in large letters: portfolio + you name + the school year. all artworks are made by students of grade 6

Coping strategies for separation anxiety involve ways to help people handle feeling upset when they're away from someone they're close to or a place they know well. These methods make them feel less worried and more safe. But for kids, it can be tough to use these skills since they may not fully understand why separation happens or how to express their feelings, which makes it hard to deal with the distress. The Separation Anxiety Coping Skills handout is designed to assist kids in dealing with separation anxiety. It is divided into three parts: the first part explains what separation anxiety means, the second part suggests ways to help kids cope with it, and the last part offers guidance for caring adults on when to seek professional help. By using this handout, kids can learn to better handle being separated, control their emotions, and build stronger self-esteem and resilience, which helps them deal with challenges as they grow. After completing it, parents and teachers can support kids by gradually exposing them to short separations, starting with brief periods and increasing them over time until they can fully adjust. To help ease separation anxiety, parents and teachers can also make a special comfort object with kids using clay or other moldable materials. For example, they can encourage them to shape the object into something meaningful, which symbolizes their connection with the person they miss. I have been so proud of the 2nd grade for their hard work over the last several weeks! I thought I would share some of the great work they have produced. First, the students picked an animal that they wanted to research. We then used a class set of Ipads to do our week-long research. I used the following paper found on TPT: I had them research 5 different topics for their animal: habitat, body, diet, life cycle, and a fun fact. After the week of research, we began our animal pyramid. We completed a triangular diorama a day. On day one, they wrote about the animal's habitat and then illustrated the animal in it's habitat. On day two, they wrote about the animal's body coverings and then drew a diagram of it with important parts labeled. On day three, they wrote about what the animal eats and illustrated. On day four, they got to pick between life cycle and fun fact for their final part of the pyramid. The final results were so good I decided to display them on tables outside my room. The students completed a Who Eats What food chain worksheet and then made a stacked food chain collage. It was challenging, but so very worth it. When you see the final results, I think you'll agree!

Learning Target: I can build a model of a food chain or a food web given a scenario in order to demonstrate how energy flows from one organism to another. The resource includes a rubric for the project, checklist for students, the cut-outs for 4 different food chain biomes with the option to make 3 of those biomes into food webs biomes (For a challenge group), and well thought out scenarios for each biome that will guide students in building their models.
