Construir un calentador solar de bajo costo con material reciclado es algo muy simple y útil, especialmente para quienes necesiten ahorrar dinero en gas de garrafas o que usan leña para calentar agua. También es de interés para los que apoyan a la ecología, concientes de la importancia de la implementación de fuentes de energía alternativas, y las personas que gustan de los trabajos manuales. Se trata de aprovechar la energía solar que no tiene costo y utilizar botellas de gaseosas que se tiran a la basura. La idea, términos simples, consiste en crear un pequeño invernadero en cada botella y pasar por dentro de la misma una manguera de riego (polietileno). De esta manera, el calor que queda atrapado en la botella y que luego es absorbido por la manguera (que es negra) se transfiere al agua y así se puede calentar el agua y ahorrar combustible como gas, electricidad o leña. Energía renovable. Se puede decir que, de este modo, se construye un dispositivo para calentar agua, para uso sanitario, con energía totalmente renovable. Se estima que una familia tipo, de cuatro personas, utiliza aproximadamente 80 litros de agua caliente por día en la cocina y en el baño. Uno puede construir este calentador del tamaño que quiera, conforme a la capacidad de agua caliente requerida para el uso diario, porque se arma con columnas de 6 botellas, con 2 metros de manguera cada una. Se pueden acoplar en paralelo tantas columnas como uno quiera y se utiliza el techo de la casa soporte. Porque una vez construido, este calentador ecológico se coloca en el techo de chapa de la vivienda, y si se carga con 100 litros de agua, el peso debe ser soportado por la estructura del techo. Paso a paso.El procedimiento para construir el calentador solar es el que se describe a continuación: 4 1.- Recolectar al menos 30 botellas descartables de gaseosas de un litro y medio, todas iguales (importante) y quitarles la etiqueta. 4 2.- Comprar en una ferretería o negocio del ramo, 12 metros de manguera para riego color negro (es importante que sea de ese color) y de ¾ de pulgada de diámetro, 8 uniones “T” y dos codos, un rollo de teflón y dos llaves esféricas de ¾ de pulgada. 4 3.- Disponer de un taladro eléctrico y una mecha de copa de ¾ de pulgada. Si no se dispone de esa herramienta, se puede, con paciencia, utilizar un cuchillito tipo sierra de cocina para agujerear las botellas. 4 4.- Se hace un orificio en la base de cada botella, igual al diámetro del orificio que tiene la botella en el sector donde va la tapa. Una vez hechos los orificios en las 30 botellas, se deben cortar cinco tramos de dos metros cada uno de manguera negra de polietileno. A continuación, se une botella con la otra, insertando el cuello de una en el orificio perforado en la base de otra, para formar una columna de seis botellas, y luego se introduce un trozo de manguera de 2 metros dentro de la misma. Repitiendo ese paso cinco veces, se han usado las 30 botellas y se dispone de una “parrilla”, que se termina de armar poniendo codos en los extremos y uniones “T” en el medio. Se arma asi el colector del calefón como indica la figura. 4 5.- Se coloca esta parrilla al sol, en un techo de chapa y orientada hacia el Norte, preferentemente, después se introduce agua por la parte inferior. Al cabo de 15 minutos de exposición a los rayos solares, sale por la parte superior agua a unos 45 ó 50 grados, lista para usar. Esto sucede por un principio físico llamado “termosifón”. 4 6.- Se puede agregar un tacho aislado para guardar el agua caliente, para lo cual se utilizan tachos de 200 litros reciclados, que no hayan sido usado para transportar químicos peligrosos. Es ideal el tipo que se usa para la comercialización de aceitunas al por mayor, con el que se puede construir un termo-tanque casero, para que el agua calentada por el sol, durante el día, se pueda utilizar también de noche. Bajo Costo. Finalmente, es necesario destacar que este sencillo dispositivo, cuyo costo puede rondar entre 50 y 100 pesos, puede ser construido por los chicos de las escuelas como trabajo de tecnología y en los clubes o centros vecinales de barrio como tarea comunitaria, o simplemente en la casa, como trabajo y pasatiempo de toda la familia.
