I’m so excited to finally share the EARTH RIGHT AFTER RAIN RUSTIC GARDEN BAPTISM LUNCHEON I styled for our son, Easton. This luncheon was held in March when my son turned eight. Eight years old is a very special age in our religion, as it is the age that you can be baptized as an official member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. You can learn more here. Special Day Easton’s baptism was held at our nearby church building and was such a neat experience for him and all of our friends and family. After Easton's baptism, we held a luncheon at our home to continue to celebrate Easton and the choice he made to be baptized. In our church, the primary children learn a song called, 'When I am Baptized'. The words in this song are as follows: "I like to look for rainbows whenever there is rain. And ponder on the beauty of an earth made clean again. I want my life to be as clean as earth right after rain. I want to be the best I can and live with God again. I know when I am baptized my wrongs are washed away, and I can be forgiven and improve myself each day. I want my life to be as clean as earth right after rain. I want to be the best I can and live with God again." So, I decided to use the phrase, "I want my life to be as clean as earth right after rain" as his baptism luncheon theme, and love how it tied everything together. When we are baptized we are truly washed clean of all of our sins, just as the earth is cleansed after a rainstorm. The party had a beautiful earthy tone, and the greenery and garden elements were perfect and masculine. We held Theron's first birthday party at my in-laws last weekend and we think he had a pretty good time. Those almost-toddlers always keep you guessing! He loved pushing his John Deere lawnmower around the whole house the entire time. I think he couldn't have cared less who was there or how it was decorated. Hahaha! That kid is smart and I could take a lesson from him! We went with a 'rain+cloud' feel [notice I didn't say theme]. I made a lot of the stuff on my own and some of it came from Etsy or Target, too. I couldn't have completed any of it without the inspiration Pinterest provides. Gosh, I love how that site makes it possible to share and use the genius of other nice people's creativity! I wish I would've taken more family photos and decoration photos but as you know, if you've ever thrown a party, things get all wonky really fast and people come and go quickly as well. The pics I did get are sweet and will hopefully give you a little peak at our day. So let's get to it! The heart print was a free printable I found here. And I made the two prints [in the middle] on PowerPoint based on some others I had seen around. We got the Happy Birthday banner via a Brickyard Buffalo sale. I sewed rainbow colored cardstock into this mobile-like garland using this tutorial. I found some large blow up punch balls at Michael's and scattered them all over the floor for Therbear to kick. I bought a vintage sheet from this Etsy seller for the dining tablecloth and I made some cloud centerpieces from foam that I freehanded & cut out. I covered some large food canisters [that my father-in-law got from some family friends who own a restaurant] and wrapped them with kraft paper and gross grain ribbon. I bought some water bottle printables from this Etsy seller and scored the stripey straws at Target. I made the food & drink labels on PowerPoint and then printed them out on cardstock and used washi tape to snaz them up a bit. My favorite spot in the party was the food table! I took total inspiration from this image. I sewed some blue fabric together and made the clouds out of quilt batting via this tutorial. I have loved these tassel garlands for so long and finally found the perfect event to use one. I thought about DIYing one but bought one instead via this Etsy seller. Totally worth it. One of David's coworkers made some deeelicious red velvet cake pops and I made some rainbow favors for the guests to take home from this idea. We decorated the front of the home with some mylar banners and some pinwheels. The morning of the party when I was picking up the balloons I spotted the "1" and had to have it! It was the perfect door decoration! The birthday boy had a sweet gold dipped vintage highchair to sit in and enjoyed his very first cupcake while there, too! And, since this post seemed never-ending, I'll leave you with just one pic of our sweet one year old! I'll share the people pics later! Thanks for stopping by, everybody! xoxo
The record books of the First Reformed Church of Easton are contemporaneous in their origin with the beginnings of the settlement of the borough and city of Easton and contain information of the greatest value to thousands of descendants. These records, which are contained herein, are chronological, running from 1760 to about the middle of the 19th century, and are divided into three distinct categories: (1) baptisms--giving parents' names, infant's name, date of birth, and names of godparents; (2) deaths and burials--giving names and dates and sometimes exact places of residence; and (3) marriages--giving names of brides and grooms and dates.

This little snarky kid got baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints today. He's the middle child... of 3 boys... this kid gives me a run for my money. And I love him to death. I am so proud of him for making the decision to be baptized. Our primary has been singing the song "When I am Baptized" for the last few years. It is my children's favorite song. The lyrics to the first verse of the song are in my free printable below. It talks about looking for rainbows after the rain and the concept of being clean again. I love the idea of a rainbow party and didn't think I'd ever be able to do one because I have 3 boys. But this boy loves color (he has bright purple shoes)(and had a neon birthday party) so he loved the idea of a rainbow themed baptism luncheon... and yes, my boys love my themed parties. Here is his invitation. I created it in Photoshop Elements. And I made it colorful. The invitation said the baptism luncheon would be at our home. I realized there would be around 40 people and decided that was too many for my little home. So we decided to have it in the primary room of our church. I set up the tables with white table cloths with a 36" square of a color fabric in the middle. in the middle of the fabric was a piece of scrapbook paper with rainbows printed on it. For centerpieces I used glass jars and vases that I had around my house. I added ribbon, washi tape and baker's twine to embellish the jars. I would have liked real flowers, but I couldn't find any of the right colors at Costco and I didn't want to spend a fortune. I had a table for each color of the rainbow. To decorate the serving table I hung streamers in rainbow order over the chalk board. I hung one tissue paper "cloud" with raindrops. I would have liked to have more of those, but there really wasn't any where to hang them. I also laid streamers along the middle of the table. I got super cute colorful polka dot napkins at Walmart and forks in every color. I found this huge cylinder glass bowl at our local Deseret Industries for $2. I just had to use it! I layered fruit in rainbow order... I love that I was excited about my cheap $2 bowl, but spent almost $30 filling the bowl with fruit. And you gotta love my leaning rainbow cake... Off to the side, I had a table with some printables. The small printable is a free download that you can customize in Photoshop from Oopsey Daisy. I customized it and also changed the colors to be rainbow. The middle printable is a free printable from LDS Printables. I LOVE it... I love the way it looks. But I also wanted a poster with the full lyrics to the song. The large printable was made by yours truly:) If you would like to download it, you can get it here.
