I decided to flip the sketch upside down and make some DSP of my own. Not everything on the pink paper is straight or even but it is home made! I cut out the flower and the center piece with Eastern Medallions thinlits dies and Fresh Fig card stock. I cut a piece of Very Vanilla and stamp both in Powder Pink and Fresh Fig the sentiment. I added a little flourish by it. I then stamped shapes on the Powder Pink card stock in both Powder Pink and Fresh Fig. I added some pearls to the center of the flowers mostly because the flourish I added was not straight! I liked how it turned out anyway! Some Very Vanilla/gold ribbon to finish it off! Hope you have a wonderful weekend and thanks for stopping by! Another great idea on how to make the most of the Eastern Palace Suite featuring Fresh Fig.

Happy Saturday & welcome to day 4 of my Eastern Palace review. Today is all about the endless combinations & possibilities you have with the Eastern Beauty stamps & Eastern Medallions dies. They're cool on their own, but the magic really happens when you combine dies and/or stamp images with each other & with other dies, like the Layering Circles dies, and punches too. I played with all the die pieces & stamps and was blown away by all the possibilities for creating with this brilliant collection. I then compiled idea sheets to show my class some of the many and am sharing them with you today. Be sure to pin these so you'll have them on hand when you want ideas. First up, here's a reminder of what's included in the Eastern Medallions die set & Eastern Beauty stamp set. Remember you receive a 10% discount when you buy them together as a the Eastern Beauty bundle (see links at the bottom of this post). Let's walk through these beauties starting with... Circle medallions There are 5 circle medallion dies - 1 large, 2 medium & 2 small. All medallions cut negative shapes into the card, rather than a positive cut out. These 2 cards show the large medallion used this way. Use them singly or together as shown below. The largest medallion shape can be snipped out of the circle to use as a positive shape, or can be cut out with a smaller or larger dies for a different look, as shown below. This card shows it cut out with a scallop circle die (similar to the far right sample in row 2 below). Large flower medallion The large flower medallion can be used alone or combined with the medium & small circle medallions. The shape partially cuts out the petals leaving the shape attached to the card. The shape can be easily snipped out with sharp pointed scissors (our Snips are perfect) to use separately, as I have on these cards & this card. This die also makes a beautiful flower petal. See this sunflower card. 6 pointed medallion flower dies & my favourite stamp The 6 pointed medallion outline die (centre top of die set image) has a coordinating inset die that partially cuts another shape. Use separately or together. This card shows the 2 dies combined with Eastern Gold stickers. Fold the inset petals back & adhere for a lovely flower outline. (row 2 below). Combine the dies with the coordinating stamp. (row 3) Add some other smaller stamp images to decorate (rows 4 & 5). Multiple stamping - the 6 pointed stamp is my favourite stamp in the set. It can be used in so many ways with the dies & can be rotated & stamped again to create a look like that of Spirograph (if you're as old as me). It also creates fabulous tessellated patterns. I'll show you some cards I've done with these techniques in my next post. For now, check out the right column of the pic below to see how brilliant the 2 & 4 images stamped together look. Square bracket die & stamps The square bracket outline die cuts a useful negative window or positive shape. The coordinating die can be used on it's own or with the outline. You can easily snip out the inset centre too. There's also a coordinating outline stamp & accent stamps to add more detail to the cuts or use on their own. Circles & sentiment stamps Oh my goodness are there any shapes more useful for any project than a circle? There are 3 circle stamps of different sizes in the Eastern Beauty set that will work for so many projects. Of course they work with many of the sentiments in the the set & many, many others. The circles can be cut put both outside & inside the line with various Layering Circles dies & circle punches, as shown in the image above. More co-ordinating dies & stamps 4 smaller stamps also have coordinated dies. I used the 4 pointed star as a flower centre on this card. SU have definitely thought of everything with this one. Phew! That's a LOT of possibilities don't you think? I'm sure there are lots more I haven't figured out yet too. Remember to pin my card & die idea sheets for later inspiration. This is the first in a series of posts all about the Eastern Palace suite. The Eastern Beauty stamps & Eastern Medallion die bundle in the suite are very cleverly designed to work brilliantly both together and separately, and also combine with other punches & dies for endless possibilities. I featured Eastern Palace & the new 2017-19 In-Colours in my May sneak peek class. This was the first card we made. Fresh fig (one of our new In-colours), gold foil & vanilla make a very elegant combination don't you think? I've used a birthday sentiment from Happy Birthday, Gorgeous on this one, but this design would work well for many occasions. One of my class lovelies made it into a wedding card. The shaped window is cut with the large circle medallion & a medium circle medallion dies plus a scallop circle die from the Layering Circles set. The circles mix and match & can be cut together for a super quick intricate look. I popped the vanilla layer up on a gold foil card layer for lots more shine... not really apparent in the pic. The gold floral medallion in the centre is made with one of the Eastern Gold vinyl stickers from the suite. The stickers are clear with a gold foil look, and some coordinate & can be cut with the dies. For this one I stuck the sticker on gold cardstock, then cut it out with the 2 coordinating dies. I kept the inside simple, just adding more sentiments & a gold border sticker. So that's card of my Eastern Palace review. I hope you liked it. Lots more to come tomorrow so pop in again tomorrow. Thanks for visiting. Inky wishes, Di If you haven't checked out the Eastern Palace suite yet, check out the discounted bundle in the full card supply list below. Sneek Peek, 2017-2018 Annual Catalogue, Eastern Beauty Bundle, Eastern Medallions, Masculine card, #kyliebertuccisinternationalbloghighligh
Hello everyone, Here’s a pretty card using the Eastern Medallions Thinlits (#143725) with a background stamped with my latest favourite technique using a template and the Stamparatus (#148187). The template is made using a piece of grid paper cut 18cmx18cm. Then I marked 2 - 10x10cm squares in the centre as shown below. To stamp the leaves, I placed a 10 x 10cm piece of Whisper White card on the square. The leaves are from the Botanical Bliss stamp set (#c146612, #w146609). I stamped the leaves with Soft Sea Foam ink (#147102). Once this was stamped I moved the card to the next “point”. Continue stamping and moving the card till the 8 images are stamped. The basecard is Soft Sea Foam (#147012) and I embossed this with the Tufted Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (#146335). The stamped card was attached to the Gold Foil Sheet (#132622). I used the Eastern Medallions thinlits to cut the Soft Sea Foam card and Gold Foil “flower”. The embellishment is a retired one. I also added some Gold Metallic Sequins (#144214) to the card. The sentiment is from Wishing You Well stamp set (#c147864, #w147867), stamped with VersaMark (#102283) and embossed with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder (#109129). This was cut with the Classic Label Punch (#141491) and attached with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals (#144108). That’s all for today. www.lesleyjendra.stampinup.net [email protected]

Yesterday was National Scrapbook Day and although I'm not a big scrapbooker, I do like to celebrate the day by inking up my stamps and creating something special. What fun and a good excuse to spend time in my craft room. I was thrilled to share the afternoon with one of my besties, Debby Evoy who is also a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator in the Abbotsford area. It was a great afternoon of yakking, stamping, sharing tips, laughter and smiles. The latter actually influenced and inspired me to create this "hello" card. Here's My Card: This is the first of many Eastern Palace Suite cards I'll be sharing during the month of May. It's my own original design. Sometimes it's nice not to add a sentiment to the inside of the card, so I didn't stamp anything I just added the two strips of stamped card stock at the bottom to tie in with the front panel of the card. Supplies: Stamp Sets: Eastern Beauty Photopolymer Stamp Set and Nailed It (R) Inks: Fresh Fig (New), Lemon Lime Twist (New), Tranquil Tide (New) Card Stock: Tranquil Tide, Fresh Fig, Whisper White, Gold Foil Accessories: Big Shot, Acryllic Blocks, Paper Trimmer, Dimensionals, 2" Circle Punch, 2 1/2" Scalloped Circle Punch, Stitch Shapes Circle Framelit Dies, 1/2" Circle Punch, Eastern Medallions Thinlet Dies. Eastern Medallion Thinlet Dies: Before we look at what went into making the above card I want to give you some tips regarding the Eastern Medallion Thinlet Dies . First of all, there are 14 individual dies with multiple options for layering. I don't know about you, but although it's exciting to think of all the variations I wasn't sure where to begin. I began by cutting out a 4/78" x 6 1/4" piece of Magnetic sheeting to hold all the dies in place. I numbered each of the dies with a bright pink Sharpie Pen, so I could see at a glance which die I was using. Here are some pictures of my dies and during the next few weeks when I refer to these dies it will be by number, for example: Combine dies #1, 2 and 3 to make a particular configuration. Here's the Magnetic Sheet I use to hold all the Eastern Medallion Thinlet Dies. Note: when you first get the dies they are attached to a sheet of thin card stock with scotch tape, that is very strong and it's difficult to easily remove them. Be extremely carefully removing them because you don't want to bend or warp the dies. Here are some close-up pictures of the dies and how I numbered them. Fig 1. Dies 1-3 starting from the smallest die in the center. Fig 2. Dies 4-6 starting from the smallest die in the center of the flower. Fig 3. Dies 7-9 starting with the die that looks like a driedel. Fig 4. The small flower is #10 and the larger flower is #11. Fig 5. These smaller individual dies were numbered 12-14. When I began cutting out the various dies I was surprised that some of them didn't cut all the way through the paper. I wasn't expecting that. See the examples below. Figures 6, 7 and 8 show how the individual dies look. Fig 6. You can see from this picture that circles 1 through 6 do not cut through the paper. The reason for this is that when you layer the dies together as in Figures 1 to 4 above, you'll get one solid medallion. If you want to separate them and use the die shape in some other way you can use coordinating punches or dies to cut them out. Fig 7. In this sample you can see that two of the dies #s 8 and 10 do not cut through the paper entirely, while 7,9,11,12,13, and 14 do. Fig 8. These are the negative images from the above die cuts. Fig 9. In this picture you can see that only the petals have cut through the card stock on the first flower image. To remove the whole flower from the card stock you need to snip the small pieces of card stock in between the petals to remove it. I used my small detail cutting scissors. I marked the cutting area on the second flower with white ink. The blue flower shows what it looks like when it's free of the card stock. Assembly: Card Base: I cut an 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" piece of Tranquil Tide card stock and scored it at 4 1/4" for the A2 card base. 1st Layer: I cut a piece of Fresh Fig to 5" x 3 7/8". Note: Before adhering this layer to the card stock I punched out a 2" Stitched Shape Circle and a #10 Fresh Fig flower layer. 2nd Layer: I cut a piece of Gold Foil to 4 7/8" x 3 3/4". Before adhering to the Fresh Fig layer I punched out a 2" Scalloped Circle and a #14 small floral layer. 3rd Layer: For the final layer I began with a 4 x 5 1/4" piece of Very Vanilla card stock but later reduced this piece to 4 3/4" x 3 5/8". I used the overage for the designer strip on the bottom inside of the card. I stamped my own background by randomly stamping the small and medium circle stamps from the Eastern Beauty Photopolymer Stamp set in Fresh Fig and Lemon Lime Twist. I randomly stamped the "hello" sentiment in Tranquil Tide. Large Medallion: I started with a 2 1/2" Tranquil Tide Stitched Shapes circle layered with a 2 1/2" Scalloped Gold Foil circle, a 2" Fresh Fig Circle, and a 1 3/4" Very Vanilla Stitched Shapes layer. I stamped the sentiment "to think of you is to smile" in Fresh Fig ink. Small Flower Medallion: The small flower medallion was made by cutting out and layering two #10 die cuts - the bottom one in Tranquil Tide and the top one in Fresh Fig. Next I cut a Gold Foil layer using die #14. I stamped one of the cute little smiley face icons from the Nailed It stamp set in Fresh Fig ink on Very Vanilla card stock and cut it out with a 1/2" circle punch. I popped up the center on a Dimensional. Inside Panel: A Very Vanilla panel measuring 4" x 5 1/4" was cut and adhered to the card base. A 1/4" strip of the background paper was adhered to a 1/2" piece of Fresh Fig card stock and then adhered to the bottom of the card panel. I didn't stamp a sentiment at this point because this card could be used for various occasions such as Thinking of You, Happy Birthday, Congratulations or Just a Note. Well that's the end of today's post. I hope you enjoyed it and I've provided some helpful hints on using the dies. I will continue to provide tips and tricks for using this set creatively over the coming weeks. I'd love to hear your comments and whether you find this kind of tutorial useful. Happy Stamping! Welcome to day 2 of my Eastern Palace project review & today I have 3 cards that show a clean & fresh take on the Eastern Palace suite. Tranquil - Lime Thank You I made this card for my SU Team Time gathering & sneak peek class in May. It features two of our new in-colours - tranquil tide & lemon lime twist. Simple layering of die cuts & stamped images from the Eastern Beauty - Eastern Medallions bundle gives an intricate but clean look with no fuss. Let's take a closer look at the layered flower-medallion. My favourite image in the Eastern Beauty stamp set is the 6 pointed flower I stamped here. I used it very simply here but watch out for more cards where it's the star. Supply Saver Tip - Cut shapes from layers where the cut will be hidden on the finished card. I cut the tranquil tide flower medallion from the tranquil tide layer, & the lemon lime twist scallop circle from the square of lemon lime card behind the medallion window. Super Simple Thanks This is a simpler quicker version of the first card using soft sky, dapper denim, calypso coral & vanilla. The change in colours really gives a different feel & you could make a whole bunch of these in different colours so quickly & never be without a thank you card. And why have I not mentioned yet how lovely is that scripty font?...and the Stitched Shapes circle gives such a finished look. Floral Trio - case-ing Lyssa It's rare for me to completely copy a card, but this card by Lyssa Zwolanek was so clever, gorgeous, and showed off the remaining 3 in-colours so perfectly, I had to copy it completely. In fact I loved it so much became the 3rd card for my sneak peek class, and no surprise that my class lovelies loved it too! Thanks so much for sharing it, Lyssa. Do you love it too? So, that's three more cards to try. Remember to pin for later inspiration and check out the supply lists below to see exactly what I used & order supplies too. Welcome to another hop with the Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team! I'm so glad you stopped by today! We are a group of about 20 demonstrators from around the world that represent SU! and we hope that you are inspired by what we have to share with you today! Here is a sneak peek of the Eastern Palace Suite! Customers can begin to order May 1st. Exclusive for a limited time are the Starter and Premier Bundles, designed for both the beginning and avid crafters. Demonstrators can now preorder the Eastern Palace Suite Starter and Premier Bundles. Get your hands on these colorful and exotic products to prepare for customer launch May 1. Sounds exciting right? Here are the two cards I made for today's hop. I was really tempted to share the other two cards that I made with one of the new in-colors - FRESH FIG - but decided on these two instead. Plus, I may just share them later in the week - so make sure you check back. For today, I really wanted to show you the intricate framelits and the vinyl stickers. I chose to pair both Copper and Gold with Dapper Denim. For this card, I used 3 of the Eastern Medallions Framelits Dies to create this beautiful medallion. You have a few options with the framelits and you can change them up to make different medallions each time. Very cool! I also stamped some dots around the medallion with Dapper Denim ink. Behind the medallion is a piece of Copper Foil Sheets. I love, love, love the way it shines through! The sentiment was straightened out and stamped in the corner. A simple 2-toned card - easy peasy! For the second card that I made, I wanted to highlight these gorgeous Eastern Gold Vinyl Stickers. This card literally took me 5 minutes tops. (I know this because my 6yo son asked me if I could just use the one card I had already finished and not make another... he was anxiously waiting to play hockey with me.) These stickers made this card so simple and easy! I added some coordinating Eastern Palace Specialty Designer Series Paper along the edge to tie in some more gold. I finished the card off with some Dapper Denim 3/8" Ruched Ribbon. (My fave!) The sentiment I bent a little to curve around the corner. I love the photopolymer sets give you a little play to change things up a bit. The sentiment comes curved, but as I posted on the first card, you can even straighten it out. I cannot wait to see the other creations that my teammates have made! Make sure to check out all of the blogs and pin your favorites! We will be back again in May to show you even more Eastern Palace goodies, so be sure to come back! If you're not a demonstrator and would like to know how you can get this bundle now - comment below! Next up is the very talented Jennifer Sootkoos!
