SN2 mechanism - the bimolecular nucleophilic substitution. Kinetics, orbital interaction, stereochemistry and how to draw curved arrows in the mechanism.
With a secondary alkyl halide and a poorly basic but strong nucleophile in a polar aprotic solvent, expect SN2. If the nucleophile is a strong base, expect E2, regardless of solvent.
SN1 SN2 E1 E2 Organic Chemistry Study Guide Cheat Sheet - handy reference for determining between unimolecular and bimolecular substitution and elimination reactions including reactant, solvent and reagent clues.
In these practice problems, we will determine if the elimination goes through an E1 or E2 mechanism and draw the mechanism and product for each reaction.
And it came to pass that the season for sandals and gin subsided, leaving in its place jackets and layers, autumnal aromas, and whiskey season. So…

SN1 vs SN2 : how are they different? We compare the mechanisms, rate-determining steps, rate laws, nucleophiles, and stereochemistry of sn1 and sn2
From the previous tutorial session (Friday, February 1, 2013), some students developed their design intentions for the 3D composition based on the idea of movement. How can you capture, make abstra…

How are the E1 and E2 reactions similar, and how are they different? The E2 requires a strong base, the E1 does not. Stereochemistry in E2 is key; not in E1
