It's a story I've told you many, many times before - after a really long week, I planned to throw together a quick card to share with you, but I played and played and played, creating a multi-layered card that's far more beautiful than I set out to create. My

It's time for a new challenge at As You See It. As always, after our theme challenge comes the Recipe Challenge - just take the given ingredients and see what you can cook up with them! You can add all sorts of other ingredients in your recipe but you must use all of the five given ingredients in some way: trees, embossing, twine, birthday and shades of green. This combination felt masculine to me and I enjoyed indulging in a good dose of greens along with some rustic texture. Perfect for adding in the shades of green is the new Online Exclusive DSP Season of Green and Gold. Although it's actually a Christmas paper, the reverses are great all year round. I don't think anyone would look at the DSP in this card and automatically think 'Christmas.' I love tree stamps and have a few in my stash. I broke out one of my all-time favourite retired sets, Rooted in Nature and coloured the tree using Stamp'n'Write markers by directly colouring the rubber before stamping. I love that technique because of the gorgeous transitions of colour that can be achieved but with more control that some other techniques. I picked some colours from the DSP: Old Olive and Mossy Meadow, mixed with some Lemon Lime Twist and some Early Espresso for the limbs and trunk. If you don't have a tree like this in your stash already, then the Loveliest Tree set from the 2024-5 Annual Catalogue would be a great addition to your collection. The sentiment is from Simply Said, a good basic greetings set. I used Deckled Rectangles to cut the tree. I embossed the Basic White card front with the Timber 3D Embossing Folder. As embellishment, I added a button from my button box and threaded it with some Linen Thread, a favourite element of mine. The team and I would love to see how you see these ingredients. On Sunday at my card club, my customers made this card, but I precut all the dies for them. They just had to stamp and put their cards together. They loved the card so much that several of them ordered this bundle. They fell in love with the Season of Green and Gold DSP. Everything was from the Online Exclusives. The original was inspired by Dawn's Stamping Thoughts video, but I changed it by using more Gold Foil. Our theme was Christmas in July, so I have another card that I will post tomorrow. Stamp Set: Sophisticated Sled Cardstock: Garden Green, Very Vanilla, Pecan Pie, Cherry Cobbler, Gold Foil, Season of Green & Gold Specialty DSP Ink: Cherry Cobbler Other: Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine, Paper Trimmer, Silicone Craft Sheet, Sophisticated Sled Dies, Paper Snips, Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Mini and Stampin’ Dimensionals, Glue Dots 1. The base of the card is Garden Green cardstock cut at 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” and scored at 2-1/8” and 4-1/4”. 2. Cut the Pecan Pie cardstock at 2” x 5-3/8” and the Season of Green & Gold Specialty Paper at 1-7/8” x 5-1/4” and layer together with Multipurpose Liquid Glue and adhere to the left-side card front. 3. Cut Very Vanilla cardstock at 2-1/4” x 3-3/4” and adhere to Garden Green cardstock cut at 2-1/2” x 4” with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. Attach to the front but only the left side with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. 4. Die-cut wooden sled from Pecan Pie cardstock, the frame from Gold Foil, the skate blades from Gold Foil, the skates from Very Vanilla cardstock, the laces from Cheery Cobbler cardstock. Ink up the bow stamp (leaving off most of the skates) with Cherry Cobbler ink on Very Vanilla cardstock. 5. Using a Silicone Craft Sheet: Adhere the Pecan Pie wood frame to the Gold Foil frame using Multipurpose Liquid Glue and matching the holes on the side to each side frame so the gold frame peaks through without getting glue where the holes are. Do the same with the steering frame. Let dry on the Silicone Craft Sheet before adhering to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop it up. 6. Die-cut the sprig from Garden Green cardstock and adhere at the top of the sled with Multipurpose Glue or a Glue Dot. 7. The skates have a slit on them where you insert the Cherry Cobbler laces and once inserted just add a Stampin’ Dimensional or two to hold them in place. Adhere the gold blades to the Very Vanilla skates with Multipurpose Liquid Glue being careful not to get the glue on the Gold Foil. 8. Trim the bottom of the bow and attach the skates to the bow. Pop them up on the sled with Mini and Stampin’ Dimensionals. 9. For the inside: Cut Very Vanilla cardstock at 2-1/2” x 4”. Ink up sentiment with Cherry Cobbler ink and stamp it in the middle. Layer onto Pecan Pie cardstock at 3” x 4-1/2” and adhere to the inside of the card so the front layer aligns with the inside, so it won’t show through on the front. A Sketch from page 68 meets Season of Green & Gold Hello, Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and #476 Challenge with CASEing the Catty. You have probably hopped here from Monique Fielder's blog on your way around this week's Blog Hop. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's creations. Challenge #476 is all about CASEing one of the layouts from page 68. As you know, CASE stands for Copy And Share Everything or Copy And Selectively Edit. When CASEing you may be inspired by a layout, a colour combination, a technique or even an embellishment. This week its a specific sketch: I have combined this sketch with something I recently saw and wanted to try. Earlier this month I saw Cindy Schuster of The Crafty Carrot Co fame share a Gift Card Holder featuring the Attention Shoppers bundle. I was taken with her project and wanted to CASE it - so decided to do a double CASE, ie the sketch and Cindy’s Gift Card Holder. My project is a Christmas card with a gift card holder inside. The soon to be released Season of Green & Gold Suite (an online exclusive) has been featured in this special card. The Season of Green & Gold Speciality Designer Series Paper is so so gorgeous. One of the designs has been used for the bottom panel. It has touches of gold running throughout the leafy design. The colours of this SDSP have been used as the colour combo for the project, ie Old Olive, Garden Green, Very Vanilla and gold. Detailed die cuts from the Golden Greenery dies were cut from Very Vanilla card-stock and 2 of the bigger die cuts were coloured with either Old Olive or Garden Green Classic Stampin’ inks and Blending Brushes. The pine fronds were left uncoloured Very Vanilla card-stock. A stitched oval from the Greetings of the Season dies was also cut from Very Vanilla card-stock and then gold heat embossed using the Greetings of the Season stamp set. Some of the luscious Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon was trimmed lengthwise and tied into a bow through the little hole in the label. Some of the pearl berries from the Cherry Cobbler and Pearl Adhesive-backed Berries were added to give some subtle shimmer. The top panel was embossed using the Fern 3D Embossing Folder. A belly band was cut from one of the other designs in the Season of Green & Gold SDSP and the die cut pieces were arranged over the front of the band with the oval label sitting on top on Dimensionals. Peaking out from beneath the label are 2 strips of Gold Foil. The ends of the foil were angled inwards to give a sense of the fishtailed label on the sketch. The sketch could be interpreted as a simple card with different layers and an angled cut, however, for this project the embossed top section will open when the belly band is removed - the edge has been angled. The SDSP underneath is a full panel. When the lower section is opened, a little shopping bag is revealed. This is where a gift card is to be placed (or a small gift could be added). Isn’t it cute. The same SDSP as the front panel was used for the internal shopping bag. Some gold trim from the On-line Exclusive Gold & Silver Trim Combo was used to create the bag handles. The bottom panel was decorated with a detailed leafy die cut, a strip of the SDSP and another sentiment - this one from the Merriest Trees stamp set. The sentiment was gold heat embossed and cut into a strip the width of the card - and was popped up on Dimensionals. Thank you so much for spending time with me.
