Ratibida (Ratibida Columnifera Mexican Hat) - Mexican Hat is a fast-growing wildflower that is not fussy about soils and is easy to grow from Ratibida seeds. The flowers are showy and have a unique look! The blooms are sombrero-shaped, with red to yellow petals drooping down, and a central brownish red cone. Ratibida Mexican Hat works wonderfully in a naturalized setting or meadow. It's drought tolerant, but if it has some moisture, the bloom season will last longer. The Mexican Hat flower is a great source of nectar for beneficial insects, and the Ratibida plants are deer resistant. Season: Perennial Height: 12 - 36 inches Bloom Season: Summer to early fall Bloom Color: Red and yellow Environment: Full sun Soil Type: Well-drained, pH 5.8 - 7.2 Deer Resistant: Yes Average Germ Time: 21 - 28 days Light Required: Yes Depth: 1/8 inch The Mexican Hat plant grows best in full sun and prefers very hot, dry locations. It is helpful to divide or thin out Mexican Hat plants every few years to maintain their vigor. Blooms mid-summer and into the fall and puts on a beautiful show!
About 1.5ft tall with leaf span about 2ft. This blooming plant is in great condition (a few petals were damaged by hails). Reflex blooms are pastel ghost color, which are recently pollinated with a compact variegated orange plant (see the last picture), so you will possibly get seeds that carry the variegated parentage. This plant is obtained from a CA clivia breeder, who shared the blooms of this plant from last year (see the 2nd picture from last). It does seem to bloom differently from year to year or in different environments. To save the shipping cost, the plant will be shipped bareroot but wrapped to keep the moisture. Plant is blooming; delicate flowers won't last during transport, although I will do my best to protect it. This easy to care, beautiful clivia can be a great gift for family and friends, and yourself! It is elegant but also tough, drought tolerant, and can grow in any type of well-drained soil. As a house plant, it's easier to grow than an orchid; it is shade tolerant--early morning or afternoon sun is enough. Even when not in flower, the leafy clumps are an attractive pot of pleasing green. Large clivia plants can go for several weeks without water; in fact, they need a dry, cold period to initiate flowering. It can be left undisturbed for many years. You can grow them beautifully for 4-5 years without ever disturbing the roots by repotting. When repotting, use potting mix that is composed of at least 50% organic matter, such as peat moss or fir bark. Most potting mixes sold at garden centers meet both requirements. They require moderate light such as an eastern exposure (morning sun) or bright, indirect light. Too much direct sun can burn the leaves. Clivia can also be summered outdoors in a shady location. Water regularly when the plant requires it during the growing season, but do not over-water; clivias prefer to be kept on the dry side. If grown outside, make sure to provide protection from midday and afternoon sun. Note: Although I did my best to pack, I cannot guarantee the safe delivery of it once it is out of my hand. Please make sure to track the delivery and receive the package on time. Once delivered, it is the customer's responsibility to help them thrive. If it arrives damaged, please immediately contact me and send me pictures to show the damage, so that we may work out a way for you.

The flowers from this honeysuckle are excellent for use as freshly cut flowers! Deer-resistant. Drought tolerant! Care Honeysuckle Plant Care Full sun is best for honeysuckles and often produces the best flowers. Locations receiving partial sun are also considered acceptable; however, too little light will cause negative growth issues. Fertilization is suggested, especially if soil is poor. Our slow release fertilizer is a great option. Spring fertilizations are best. Prune in the late fall or early spring. All pruning should be done using a clean tool to minimize the risk of diseases.
