Ok, it's finally here... I am sorry about the wait and the quality of the video, my son was playing around with some music in the background which kind of adds extra noise. The video is at the bottom of the page. This was the card I demonstrated in a workshop, which is missing the word bubble and I had coloured the fox with Cujan Craze on this one. I scanned this from an A4 page that I had drawn the diagrams onto, so if your having trouble reading the measurements it should print out ok to be readable... I hope. Card stock base is Soft Suede and all other card stock is Crumb Cake. Hardwood background stamped in Early Espresso and all other images stamped with Vesa Mark and embossed with Black embossing powder. All images are coloured with Aqua Painter, Stampin Write Markers and the White Chalk Pen. I will get a video up on the details of the colouring technique. Background stamp is Hardwood and the words "hey there" is from Word Bubbles. All other images (animals, trees & mushrooms) are from Life in the Forrest. In this picture you can see all the score lines and folds, as well as the stamps. I wrote on the underneath of the card before giving it away, there is loads of room to write on and for the kids to add their weird pictures too (as my son often does). I will try to improve my video making skills.... you'll just have to bare with me until I do. : ) This video shows more of the watercolouring with Stampin' Write Markers. Keeping mind that you need to use water based ink when blending with the water pen (Aqua Painter).
Today's project is a Double Diamond Fold featuring the Frosted Gingerbread stamp set and Gingerbread & Peppermint Designer Series Paper!
The double diamond fold card is a little tricky because of the way the two ends fold. I would suggest starting with a piece of printer paper so you get the hang of the creases and the direction of the folds, and don't be discouraged if it takes several attempts to manipulate those ends! Template red lines = score lines 1. Cut a piece of card stock to measure 111/2" x 5". Score all the lines using the template above as a guide for measurements. You may find it easier to draw in the diagonal lines using a ruler and pencil. 2. Crease all the scored lines. 3. To crease the diagonal lines, fold the cardstock longways as shown in the picture below. With both halves together gently fold the cardstock along the score line. Flip and fold the other way, then repeat with the other end. 4. Starting from the left hand side, mountain fold, valley fold, valley fold, mountain fold. The two diagonal folds on either end of the card take quite a bit of manipulating to get them to sit correctly. Note that the two diamonds will cross over at the front and back. 5. Now it's time to decorate! I used some squares of coloured cardstock as mats for a floral image I coloured with my copic markers. 6. I cut a piece of white cardstock to go inside the fold using the measurements from the template. Before adhering it in place I stamped a sentiment at the top and bottom of the piece of card so that it would be visible when closed. I also added a little bow on the point of one of the diamonds.
Here is the dimensions for the double diamond fold card. The link below is for the full tutorial on how this card is made and put together. Hope you enjoy. YouTube Tutorial: Card stock 12x7 inches score on the long side at 3, 4 1/2, 7 1/2, 9 Make a mark with your pencil or styles at 1 1/2 inches and at 10 1/2 inches Turn and do the same on the opposite side. Then turn to the 7" side and mark at 3 1/2 inches on both ends. Now you will join the "tic" marks together creating a diamond on each end. So join the 10 1/2" to the side one that is at 3 1/2" and so forth. Now you want to mark the first score line at the 3 1/2" as well so that you can create a half diamond for folding. As shown in the video. So join the end of the second score line to the 3 1/2" mark down on the first score line. As shown in the photo below and the videos. For your mats I follow the same instructions as above with my designer paper and then trim 1/8" off to create my mats, you could cut them one by one if different colors if you want. That is all there is to this card quick and easy, the cutting takes the longest. But how beautiful is it!!

Well, spring has sprung in southern Arizona and yesterday I started planting some purchased flowers and a cherry tomato plant. I even cleaned off our porch and hosed it off, getting rid of weeds and dirt that accumulated over the winter. Needless to say I'm a bit stiff but I'm sure my job today (I help clean our church) will loosen my muscles. But Friday I had a class (you can see the Live video on my FB page, Stampin Hot With Carol, last Friday morning. (I actually have 3 videos, 2 on Friday and 1 on Saturday.) During my class I put together the card I was teaching and finished it to give my gals ideas, and there are some pictures of the cards a few of them made also on my FB page. I taught the Double Diamond with a Twist card. I can't remember where I found it as I had to submit this class a year ago! But the colors of my base card, Pumpkin Bread, Summer Days, and Banana Cream reminded me of sunflowers! I used Whip Cream card stock for the stamped images. So I pulled out 2 stamp sets, Hello Lovely and Honeycomb ATS. I absolutely LOVE how this turned out!! I used 2 inks, Black Licorice and Pineapple Smoothie. The Smoothie ink did wonderfully on the backgrounds! All my coloring was done with our Color Burst Pencils. I managed to get some pretty good blending done on the flower just using the pencils! I used Medium and Small Foam Squares, White Liner Tape, and Sweet Candy Drops. Nope, I didn't use the Amaze as there were no dies for any of the images, all were detail cut with our Details Pro Shears. (And they are amazing as they are self sharpening and VERY sharp!) I think I should have added Journey Glaze to the bees or at least to their wings, I may yet. So what do you think of my card? It does fit and A2 envelope though it may need some padding or something to protect it and the envelope. That would increase the postage. Now I need to start doing research for my classes in Jan., Feb., and March next year! StampinCarol
I so love the card I am showing you today. It's called a "Double Diamond Fold" and is fun to create. It also folds flat for mailing: If you would like to try this, here are the steps for you! Step 1:
So, this week we made double diamond fold cards in my Craft Class, so here are some of the double diamond fold cards that I made:- This one was made using the Grace Taylor "Let's Play" 12x12 papers from Trimcraft, alongside Belle & Boo decoupage & sentiment stamps (also from Trimcraft). Above is a double diamond fold card that I made using distress inks, Dovecraft washi tape and Funfair decoupage (by Trimcraft). This next double diamond fold card was made using Grace Taylor "Let's Play" paper and Belle & Boo decoupage and sentiment stamps:- To make this card, you need a 6"x12" piece of white cardstock. Below is the template with instructions:- It looks complicated to make, but it's not too bad! The best way of matt and layering pattern paper onto it is to cut out another 6"x12" piece of pattern paper, and then draw out the scorelines on the reverse, and then cut along the scorelines and lay they out in their positions. Then, one by one, go through each piece, trimming it down so that you have a bit of a white border around each piece of patterned paper.

I have an awesome card fold to share with you today - not too difficult, and it looks spectacular when standing up on display. Although it does take a lot of card stock, it would be fantastic for a special occasion or for an event where lots of people wish to sign their name. TEMPLATES 1. Start by trimming your card stock to size. You'll need a 12" x 51/2" piece for the card base plus an extra 41/2" x 51/2" piece to extend the base. You'll also need an 81/2" x 31/4" piece and a 9" x 31/4" piece for the insert. 2. Time to score everything. Place the 12" x 51/2" piece horizontally on your score board and score at 4" and 8". Fold along the score lines starting with a valley fold then a mountain fold. 3. Place the 41/2" x 51/2" piece of card stock vertically on your score board and score at 4". This will leave you with a 1/2" tab on one side. 4. Place the 81/2" x 31/4" piece of card stock horizontally on the score board and score at 23/4" and 51/2". 5. Place the 9" x 31/4" piece of card stock horizontally on the score board and score at 23/4", 51/2" and 81/2". Fold along all the score lines. 6. Apply glue or double sided tape to the 1/2" tab on the 41/2" x 51/2" piece of card stock. Secure it to the right-hand side of the 12" x 51/2" piece, keeping the tab to the back of the card. Your card base should resemble the letter "M" when viewed from above. Set aside to dry. 7. Apply glue or double sided tape to the 1/2" tab on the 9" x 31/4" piece of card stock and secure it to the right hand side of the 81/2" x 31/4" piece of card stock. IMPORTANT NOTE: The 81/2" x 31/4" piece of card stock has been divided into three panels by the score lines you added earlier. The panels measure 23/4", 23/4" and 3" in width from left to right. Make sure you are joining the tab to the 3" section. When you fold the insert along the score lines, you should notice that middle section is 1/4" longer than the other two sections. See the photos below. 8. Your card stock should now look like the photo below. The taller piece is the card base and the narrower piece is the insert. 9. Choose a set of rectangular nesting dies to cut the windows from the card base. The dies need to be tall enough for the insert to fit comfortably inside (see photo below). They should be wide enough to leave a minimum of 1/2" on either side of the panel. If you don't have dies, it's perfectly okay to use a trimmer or craft knife to cut windows in the base, keeping all four cuts at least 1/2" from the sides of the panel. 10. Your insert should fit through both windows with plenty of room to spare. 11. Time to decorate! For the insert, you'll need four pieces of patterned paper measuring 21/2" x 3" and two pieces measuring 23/4" x 3". For the card base, you'll need five pieces of patterned paper measuring 33/4" x 51/4", which includes one piece for the card front. 12. Cut a window in two of the 33/4" x 51/4" pieces of card stock to form frames for the card base. This is where the nesting dies really come in handy as you can use the next size up from the one you used on the card base. 13. Use glue or double sided tape to secure all the patterned paper to the card base and the insert. You may prefer to leave one of the panels on the insert blank for a message or stamped sentiment. 14. Add your embellishments and sentiments, keeping everything relatively flat so it doesn't add too much bulk to the finished project. 15. Once your insert is decorated, thread it through the two windows as shown in the photos below. 16. Apply adhesive to the back of the first panel of your insert and secure it to the card base, about 1/2" from the outside edge. Repeat for the last panel of the insert. 17. Since the card is very bulky, it will not stay closed without a little help. I found the simplest solution was to create a belly band from a 11/2" wide strip of card stock and some embellishments. 18. Wrap the card stock around the centre of the card, leaving a small overlap. Secure into a loop with glue or double sided tape. Decorate with a strip of patterned paper, images, stamps and sentiments. NOTE: I adapted these instructions to remove the ribbon closure that was included in all the other examples I could find of this card, and replaced it with a simple belly band. If you'd prefer the ribbon closure, just do a google search for "multi-panel accordion cards" and you'll find lots of great tutorials. Products:

Hello. This is my version of a Double Diamond Fold Card. Here are a couple samples of the Double Diamond Fold cards that I've created. ...
I found a great tutorial on how to make these double slider cards, made a bunch of them, now everyone wants instructions & I can't seem to find that same tutorial to put up a link....So I guess this will have to do. Please bare with me & keep in mind I have only made two videos & I think I might need some practise. Instruction page at bottom of post. Stamp sets; Up-up & Away, Sassy Salutation. I used fun colours on this card because it was for the little girl who lives over the road. I used dimensionals to pop-up the top of the balloons & glued the bottom part down, going for a 3d effect. Josey's birthday card. Stamp sets: Kenny K's Lady Raven, Wicked Cool & Gorgeous Grunge. I used copic markers to colour-in Lady Raven & mounted her on an Apothecary Accents framelit, embossed with the Spider Web textured folder. This is the only slider card I have done in portrait orientation so far. Paige's birthday card. Stamp sets; Papillon Potpourri, Sassy Salutations & Elements of Style. Sponged sky using a scallop circle as a cloud stencil. & Dazzling Diamonds for a bit of sparkle. Scratchy Slider Card, (with the scratchy part on) I seen a "Scratchy Card" on Dawn's blog & thought it was a fantastic idea, so I had to have a go. It's basically 2tsp gray acrylic paint mixed with 1tsp dish wash liquid & painted onto acetate. Of course you may need a few coats of the paint to become opaque, then add it to jack paper or adhesive sheet to create a scratchy sticker. I added a coin to the card (with a glue dot) for the recipient to scratch the scratchy. This is the same card but without the scratchy added (so you can see what I have stamped underneath). Open slider card with scratches. Open slider card without scratches. Stamp sets: Blue Ribbon & Clockworks. Textured Embossing Folders: Honeycomb & clouds. Dad's birthday card. This was the first slider card that I made. Stamp sets: By the Tide & Sassy Salutations. Stamp sets: By the Tide & Wacky Wishes. Card base 11" x 5 3/4", reinforcement strip 1 1/2" x 5 1/4", satin ribbon 1" x 12" sliding tabs 3" x 4", & front 5 1/2" x 3 3/8". Score card base at 3 3/8", 7" & 10 5/8". Sorry guys. I know I should have typed this out for you, but I've already written it here as instructions that I handed out at home during a workshop, so I hope it's readable enough to be of use.

More time to play... and another interactive card! This one is called a Double Diamond Fold card but I have made a different card by the same name so I am renaming it the MINI Double Diamond Fold card. A link to the blog post by Lisa Curcio is here and that also leads to her You Tube channel where there is a video to follow. I used the beautiful plaid paper from the Daisy Meadows collection for the panels. The flower was stamped, coloured and die cut and the sentiment was stamped just below the centre of the diamond. I added a piece of white cardstock to the back of the diamond so there is a small place to write. Depending how tall the image you use (the flower in my case), this card can fit in a standard A2 envelope. I didn't want to add any bulky embellishments so I just used the Clear Shimmer Brush and some Stickles to add some sparkle to the flower. Products used are all Close To My Heart: Paper: Daisy Meadows Paper Collection, White Daisy Cardstock, Peacock Cardstock, Mint Cardstock, Canary Cardstock Stamps: Daisy Meadows Scrapbooking, Flowers for You Inks: Intense Black, Peacock Accessories: Daisy Meadows Scrapbooking Stamp and Thin Cuts, Tri-Blend Markers, Clear Shimmer Brush, Diamond Stickles, Thin Foam Tape Enjoy, Alyson
