This week's "It's a String Thing" (click here for all of the delightful details) features the official Zentangle® pattern Knightsbridge in a monotangle. There are wonderful resources here on TanglePatterns with links to even more by Sandy Bartholomew and Margaret Bremner. These are my notes on the fabulous tangle ~ Remember to include shading, especially around the perimeter of the space tangled with Knightsbridge. Note: The scalloped lines can jump across as many grid lines as you wish. Enjoy!

Rick writes: A recent trip to a local museum inspired a new tangle. We call it well. We describe well and provide step-out instructions in this newsletter. Here are some larger views of images from that newsletter. How we named this tangle well Originally I wanted to call it higgins after the Higgins Armory Museum where this box was found. However we already have a tangle named huggins (named after the person who showed it to us). Even though well has echoes of huggins within it, it would have been a confusing name. OK, what next? Well, this box looked like a treasure chest that would hold jewels. How about jewel for a name? We didn't go with that because it's potentially too descriptive of an expected outcome. However it was a good enough inspiration to give us well. This name has an added benefit of offering opportunities for fun word play, which we love. Well . . . that's it for now! We look forward to your comments and to seeing how you draw well. Enjoy! Click images for larger views.
Pipez - though I typically use this pattern with steampunk, I'm sure it could be used in many other ways. Here are some examples: A variation - laying pipez on its side and making it a metal wall. Another variation - changing the slant of some of the dividers. I hope you enjoy pipez. I'd love to see what you do with it. Please, feel free to pin this pattern to your boards, giving credit to The Creator's Leaf.

I'm looking on the internet at lace patterns today.
This pattern grew out of the need to fill a circle I had on a piece I was working on. I knew I wanted to use the arc/arches and made the center circle to give me a starting point. I was very happy when I was done. :)
Here is a new tangle. I have given it the name Gothic, because it makes me think of Gothic windows. You can fill the spaces in many ways to get different effects. So you can experiment with it endlessly.

I have no idea where the inspiration for this one came. It's a little wintery, but also reminds of 50's 'beat' kind of art....

I try to do yoga and go swimming a couple of times a week, but I'm still not losing any weight :-( Recently I looked up at the large shower head there and thought it resembled the lotus pods I'd seen in a friend's door wreath years ago. I designed this tangle based on those. I trust you'll agree that Lotus Pods is a better name than Shower Heads! Start with random wobbly circles, touching each other or not. And be sure to do a ring of dots around the edge before filling in the middle. Here's the tangle:
