Hi everyone! I'm back with a new Katzelkraft project :)) Today I used the "Frog in costume", which is another of the new mini stamps from Katzelkraft. I love this well-dressed guy! - He was just the right size for an ATC. It took a little longer thant the last ATC, but it was really fun to make. I stamped the different parts of the frog on gel print scraps, cut them out and assembled them on another gel print. The stamping in the background is from AALL&Create. I heat embossed the sentiment onto black cardstock, cut it into labels and stuck them on. Hope you like it. - See you next Tuesday with a new Katzelkraft creation! ;) If you would like to see more of my Katzelkraft creations, just click on the Katzelkraft label at the end of the post, or here. I used: ...just click on the image to go to the store and see it in full size. Linked up with: We Love to Create Mixed Media - Anything Goes Mixed Media Creative Fingers - Anything Goes I used: Stamps: Frog in costume and sentiment (Katzelkraft); Inks: Onyx Black (Versafine); Prize Ribbon (Distress Oxide); Colored pencils, alcohol ink markers, embossing powder, gel print,
Hello friends! I really LOVE to color! You can create such beautiful watercolor effects with Distress Markers, Watercolor cardstock and a Detail Waterbrush. Stamp Flower Garden images onto Watercolor Cardstock cut to 2 1/2" x 4 1/4". I have tried lots of watercolor paper and I absolutely love the Ranger Watercolor cardstock for this technique. This Tim Holtz stamp set #CMS215 by Stampers Anonymous comes with 6 flowers and 3 stems. Color the flower with Distress Markers. No need to fill in everything just a rough color, this way you will have light and dark areas in each petal for a more realistic look. Use the Waterbrush to smooth out the color. This is where the cardstock is important, with cheeper cardstock this technique doesn't work quit as well. TIPS: Have a cloth handy to blot off excess water. Dry between layers to prevent pilling on the cardstock. Layer the colors until you have the desired effect. Color, color, color! Round the corners with a 1/4" corner rounder. Ink the edges with Distress Ink on an Ink Blending Tool. For the card base I used the Big Ticket Bigz die. First fold the Kraft-Core cardstock in half, place the fold just inside the steel rule at the top and die cut the other three sides. Cut a mat from green Kraft-core cardstock. Sand and ink all the pieces. Color ribbon to match. Wrap the Crinkle Ribbon around a few fingers keeping the edges lined up. Draw some Distress Marker onto your Craft Sheet and spritz with water. Soak up the color with the folded Crinkle Ribbon. Repeat with a different color for the opposite edge. Dry with a heat tool. If you want the ribbon crinkled just scrunch up the ribbon as you're drying it. Stamp a little message with the Hashtags Stamps set #CMS183. Now you have all the pieces to create a pretty little card set. Here are a few pictures to inspire you! So I went a little crazy, like I said I LOVE to color!! Grab some stamps, your Distress Markers and do some coloring! You're going to LOVE it too! Thanks for stopping in! Richele InLinkz.com

Hello friends! Today I have more inspiration with the Tim Holtz Distress Crayons! I really love the versatility of the Crayons, how they react when a little water is added, the way they make the surface feel and they come in my favorite Distress colors. The Flip Frame is a great way to display my mini works of art. I cut down a piece of Dina Wakley Media Board to fit my Flip Frame (3 1/4" x 5").Dina's new Media Board is coated with Gesso and it's a great surface for the Crayons and I love the added texture. Draw Distress Crayons directly to the surface. If you are working on a larger area you would want to work in small sections at a time. Add a little bit of water and blend the Crayons with your fingers. Add another layer of Distress Crayons to deepen the colors. Add Walnut Stain to the outer edge to create a border and dry with a heat tool. One of my favorite techniques to do with the Crayons is to lift color back off through a stencil with a damp cloth. The stencil is made with the Mixed Media #3 Thinlits Set. It's always a good thing when you can multi task a product and use them for more them one thing. You could also use a Layering Stencil the new Mini Layering Stencils are the perfect size for small projects and cards. Use the stencil vertically and horizontally to create interest. Randomly add Remnant Rubs. Cut out a section of Remnant Rubs, position over the canvas and using the Rub Tool rub the words randomly over the canvas. Cut Found Relative out and adhere to canvas with Collage Medium. Brush a layer of Collage Medium over the Found Relative and let dry. Draw around the Found Relative with a dark Distress Crayon and smudge with your finger. This will create a shadow and make the guy stand out. Add a Vial Label with a little Remnant Rub number. Distress Crayons also work on metal! Draw Crayon directly on to metal pieces and rub off the excess with a dry cloth. The Crayon will stay in the words of the Quote Band and around the raised areas of the Timepiece. Attach the Timepiece and Mini Gears by poking a hole through the canvas and securing them with Fasteners. I added foam tape behind the Timepiece to raise it up. Mask off the areas you don't want to splatter with a Post-it Note like his face and the Quote Band at the bottom. The Ranger Distress Splatter brush is a nice size. It's small and I think the splatter stays more contained. Splatter Black Soot Distress Paint with the Distress Splatter Brush. Apply a few drops of Distress Paint on to your craft Sheet, pick the paint up at the end of the Splatter Brush and splatter on to canvas. Add Nail Heads to Quote Band with Glossy Accents. I am really liking the versatility of the Crayons and how you can use them in so many different ways. The possibilities are endless. I can't wait to get some more time to play and experiment. I hope you will love the Distress Crayons as much as I do. Thanks for stopping by! Richele Here's all the goodies I used for this project. InLinkz.com

ABOUT THE ARTWORK This painting is a cubist-inflected still life of flowers in a vase. My intention is to show the ephemeral beauty. My practice embraces a range of materials including acrylic, pastel, papers, fabrics, gels and markers. I am finding inspiration for my multifaceted works in being a passionate observer of everyday life. I build upon the surface, affixing strips of secondary canvas or paper across the support, elsewhere revealing the raw texture of frayed fabric. With an atmospheric marbling of drips and colored areas. Gestural markings intermingle with a combination of layering and distressing. Imprints and erasures combine on the canvas. They not only function as formal reflections on materiality, but also address the fragility and unpredictability of the current moment. That work comes with an artist frame. It is a handmade frame made with spruce wood, WWF certified. (World Wide Fund For Nature). I am only useing very high quality material and paintcolors. So you can be proud of owning such a Swiss made painting, made with passion, creativity and high quality craftmenship. That specific work has got a partly matt and partly glossy finish. PLEASE NOTE - All works are sent with a signed Certificate of Authenticity and hand written thank you note. The artwork is signed and dated on the front and backside. What are Tim Holtz's Distress Crayons and how can you use them? Can you stamp on them? Can you write on top of them? Check out the video with the answers!
This little piece of art was created with acrylic markers on a Oval piece of sliced wood. The smell of a crackling fire and roasting marshmallows, there’s nothing like it. That’s sticky, gooey, crunchy sugar hit is filled with warm memories of storytelling, friends and laughter. I work in the Aerospace industry at a high stress job. This is what I do when I come home in the evening to distress. My sister and mom love to do the diamond painting, they always look so tranquil while they are filling in the numbers. Diamond painting is not for me, yet it encouraged me to order some acrylic markers and wood cookies (smiling).

This is my third journal page for the March prompt (Friendship) over on Nina Ribena's Art Journal Prompts and More. I decided to use my Distress Oxides and some acrylic paint to make a night sky as the background for the quote I chose. I took plenty of photos so that you can see how I built up the effect. I worked on a piece of mixed media card (18.5cm x 19.5cm). The first layers involved blending different colours of Distress Oxide over the page using a blending tool; I keep a separate foam pad for each colour ink. I started with some Black Soot. Next, I used Hickory Smoke, then went back to Black Soot until I was happy with the smoothness of the blend. Wilted Violet was used to add a hint of colour across the middle. Then some Fossilized Amber in the top right hand corner. The last new colour that I introduced was Faded Jeans along the bottom. The next four photos show the introduction of a water spray to build up interest. I sprayed the page lightly twice, drying it with a heat gun after each application. The final two times that I spritzed the page, I blotted it with a piece of paper towel before drying with the heat gun each time. Next I introduced watered down acrylic paint and a fan brush to the mix. First I used Pebeo Studio Dyna acrylic paint in iridescent silver. Finally I used a Golden Hi Flow acrylic paint in iridescent gold. By starting the splattering off to the left hand side, I was able to avoid too many large spatters. To add the quote, I stamped the word friends in Versamark ink, heat embossing it using the Wow gold pearl super fine embossing powder. The stamps used are from the Word Chain Alphabet by Claritystamp. The remainder of the quote, "Good friends are like stars, you don't always see them but you know they are there." was added by printing out most of it in a small font using my Dymo Letratag, together with a sticker from the Big Chat sticker book by Tim Holtz.
A cute card for cat lovers. The little girl and kitty were stamped on mixed media paper, colored with watercolor markers using a palette, and cut out with coordinating dies. The card background was created using a 2 part stencil and distress oxide inks. She was adhered with pop dots for added dimension. The front of the card reads "Love is a four legged word". The inside of the card is blank, but a kitty with a ball of yarn was added to the lower right corner. The card measures 4.25" x 5.5" and comes with a white envelope. It is shipped in a cellophane envelope and comes from a smoke free environment.
