We have grown up in a world with beliefs of Gender stereotypes. Where men and women have different social roles. Men are perceived as independent, active, and resolute. Whereas women are expected to be a benevolent, caretaker, and to be communal. When it comes to language it is a powerful means that reproduce and perpetuate sexism and gender discrimination. The origin of Gender Bias is found in our linguistic choices. If you think of language just as a means of communication, you are terribly wrong. The role of language is much more than that. It influences the way we see the world. Language shapes us in different ways. Language use in our everyday communication makes us aware of how our societies are inherently gendered and what gendered languages are.

You probably don’t realize how much your daily routine is influenced by the status quo and hand-me-down beliefs. It’s no wonder you are so exhausted!
This postcard is inspired by the first launch of the Artemis NASA mission.. a mission for the first woman to walk on the moon... FINALLY! I made this graphic & postcard to try and explain my thoughts and feelings on this mission... The first thing you'll notice in this graphic is the rusted chain link fence. This fence symbolizes the decades of sexism and discrimination that kept space inaccessible for most people. (Of the 24 astronauts who have walked on the moon, ALL have been white and male.) The fence is rusted because these barriers are old, outdated, and crumbling. More people from all backgrounds are going into space! The Artemis Mission will bring the first women and person of color to the moon. The second thing I hope you notice is that all the images in the fence are of the Artemis mission or recent NASA missions. This symbolizes how the Artemis Mission is NEEDED to break barriers and the importance of having a large step for "women-kind" as well as man-kind. The third thing I hope you notice is that this format of images, looks how astronauts in the ISS view the earth from the observation deck. Space is for EVERYONE and is an inspiration for all. So much thought was put into this graphic, I hope you love it ♥️🚀👩🚀🛰️🌠🌕🌌 Postcards are 4" x 6" printed on high quality glossy printer paper on the frontside, and matte paper for writing on the backside.

An Introduction to Prejudice In this lesson, the students will be introduced to the concept of prejudice and how pre-judging others often lead to acts of discrimination. The students will investigate different types of prejudice and the ways that people can be disadvantaged, or treated badly based on the beliefs of others. We will discuss different forms of discrimination including racism, sexism, homophobia, ageism and disability discrimination. The students will then apply their knowledge to a selection of case studies. This 1-hour fully resourced lesson is suitable for upper elementary (Grades 3 - 5) or possibly lower ability middle school students (Grade 6). The lesson includes a 'mindreading' activity which is used as in introduction to the concept of prejudice, an information packet, a video clip with questions, a case study discussion task, an independent review activity, a class debate task and a plenary task. The lesson has been left editable and is filled with engaging, well differentiated, and fun activities. It is designed to be ‘no-prep’, so you can just pick it up and use it, although it is still adaptable should you wish to.
