September 25 is an important day for Franco-Ontariens/francophones in Ontario! It is la journée des Franco-Ontariens! Take a trip with your students to discover l'Ontario français! "Un voyage en Ontario français" will teach your FSL students all about the French language and culture in Ontario in a fun and interactive way! You can choose to have students complete the activities in a day or space them out throughout the week! Decorate your classroom in green and white (balloons, ribbon, etc.) to make this special day extra special! How To Use in Classroom: 1. Place student train tickets on desks or lockers before activities. 2. Display "Un voyage en Ontario français" image on interactive whiteboard. 3. Have songs from Franco-Ontariens artists playing as students enter the classroom with their train ticket - here are some suggestions: Artistes Franco-Ontariens *ALWAYS PREVIEW VIDEOS OR SONGS BEFORE SHOWING IN CLASS* 4. Place "mots-cachés", "passeport provincial" and green/white ticket on students' desks. I also like to hand out a fun green coloured prop such as a necklace or a party hat! Ticket is for a draw at the end of the lesson: I like to purchase green and white objects such as slime, putty, pencils, mini notebooks, playdough, etc. However, this is completely optional! 5. Students walk around the classroom searching for the clues (they are "les arrêts") that will help them answer the questions in the "passeport provincial". 6. Once students have completed their "passeport provincial", hand out the exit ticket which is a white or green rectangle that will be used to create your own Franco-Ontarien flag. Once the flag is completed, glue the provided fleur de lys and trille to it and display the beautiful drapeau franco-ontarien in your classroom or hallway! 7. Early finishers can work on the task cards included in the extra activities. Included: - Editable student train ticket (4 designs - PowerPoint™ document) - Printable "Le passeport provincial" (15 questions - PDF document) - Printable "Les arrêts" + images of clues (15 of each - PDF document) - Printable EXIT TICKET "Le drapeau franco-ontarien" + "fleur de lys" and "trille" images (PDF document) - Image for interactive whiteboard (PowerPoint™ document) - Extra activities including word search, informational text on "L'Ontario français", 12 task cards that go with text, answer sheet and answer key (PDF document) - Instructions and ideas for educators TERMS OF USE 1.
