My teaching partner and I were asked to lead the staff in a team-building activity at our teacher institute day. Back in April we did an Egg Drop that was a huge hit and we were excited for an opportunity to plan another one! We came up with the red solo cup stack! This was super fun and easy to put together! Groups were given this handout (available on teacher's pay teachers-- Click here ---> Free Download! <3 Here are the supplies: Red Solo Cups (or any kind of plastic large cups) We used 20. You can make it as easy (less cups) or as hard (more cups) as you want. String (we included 6 pieces about the length of your arm) One rubberband Handout with simple instructions Throw all the supplies in a big gallon size bag and you're ready to go! TECHNICALLY you're supposed to take each string and tie it on the rubberband. Then each team member takes a string and they work together to pull apart the rubberband put it around the cup, pick up the cup and place it where it is supposed to go. However, some of our staff members got very creative-- which is great! It's always a great idea to encourage your learners to think outside the box. As long as they are working together appropriately, respectfully & having fun that's all that counts! The whole point is to promote working cooperatively as a team. Less people are buying newspapers now, reading news online......thank goodness those that do, are willing to donate them to schools. In the past they would be used for keeping table clean. But by the end of the summer term they are sculptures, technological constituents and objects of great desire. SHOES Pixie boots, clown shoes, moccasins, flip flops, moon boots. It seemed the list was endless ( unlike the cellotape) Teachers dreamed of elegant cocktail parties, and long summer weddings. Pupils worked together in small groups. The brief was simple - one shoe, to fit a member of the team, must come on and off. The challenges were endless. Making newspaper as strong as leather without relying on the tape, folding, joining, crumpling, making laces, buckles, football boot studs, heels, bows and bells. And only using scissors for cutting the tape. We had to stop the children wearing them home!

Good Morning Everyone, I hope you are all well. Today I want to share with you a card I made for our Stampin Birds Team Challenge. Each week we have a new challenge set - these can be colour, theme or techniques - but this week we are following a sketch. I chose to use the Bloom where you're planted DSP and I'm so happy with how it turned out. Measurements Gray Granite Cardstock 1pc - 4 1/8" x 11 3/4", scored at 5 7/8" Basic White Cardstock 1pc - 5 5/8" x 3 7/8" Neutrals DSP Stack Gray Granite 1pc - 5 5/8" x 3 7/8" Bloom Where You're Planted DSP 1pc - 5 5/8" x 3 7/8" 1pc - fussy cut Flower and pot. Fold the Gray Granite card stock along the score line to create your card base - add the basic white panel to the inside. Take the Bloom where you're planted DSP and find the centre point on the longest length - I just folded it over lightly and made a tiny pinch where it was but you could measure in out. Place this DSP into your trimmer and line up the notch into the track and cut into it approx 1 1/4". Rotate your DSP now and line up the top corner to the inside edge of the cut and score a diagonal line. Repeat this process for the bottom edge as well. so it should look like this Now very carefully fold along these score lines so that you are folding the DSP towards the centre. You will create a piece like so... Stamp the sentiments to the top and the bottom on the left hand side of the DSP, then layer this to the Neutrals DSP piece and then add to the card front. Add a fussy cut flower and pot to the card front in the centre of the two sentiments. Here's a list of the supplies I used in today's card. Hurray! It's Karen Burniston's Design Team Challenge day today, and the theme this month is 'Love Sweet Love' with a chocolate element thrown in! It wasn't hard to come up with the idea for this card - my DH Scott loves chocolate ice cream and chocolate sauce, so I thought I'd make a masculine, ice cream sundae Valentine card for him. I used Karen's new Ice Cream Sundae Pop-up die set, the Circle Tag Book Pop-up set for the bunting flags, and the Heart Pivot Panels set for the stitched hearts. The patterned papers are all from the Glitz 'Yours Truly' 6x6 pad, along with some paper-backed burlap and silver card. The 'You're Sweet' die is also from Karen's new release. On the card front I used the smaller hearts from the Heart Pivot Panels set, Crosshatch Squares, and 'Love you' from the Word Set 9 - Love set. This was such a fun card to make!!
