NEAUVEAU VOICES COLLECTION Small size (fits XS-S) upcycled faux fur vest with handspun freeform crochet back panel with art yarn embellished sequin applique. Repurposing materials is important to me as a conscientious textile artist. I thrifted these new/like new pieces and sculpted the wrap by hand. I enjoy transforming "fast fashion" into "couch couture" - comfortable delightful garments that can be worn over pajamas or to the fiber art festival. Where to wear something like this? Sheep and wool festivals Children's museums Around the house To the beach To the park To work To the zoo To live music events To a botanical garden Wherever you want to take some cute selfies Whenever you need a seretonin hit! How to wash: Always wear a shirt under art garments to keep them fresh. Spot clean if necessary. Do not put in the washing machine or dryer. If necessary, soak in warm water with a gentle detergent and lay flat to dry. Dry cleaning is okay. About the collection: This collection was inspired by two concepts: clothing inclusivity and pandemic wear. I wanted pieces that were "free size" so they could be worn by as many body types as possible (or still fit as your body changes thru different chapters in life), and easy to throw over pajamas to look put together for a zoom meeting or when working from home. I enjoyed making this piece and am looking forward to sending it to whomever it belongs to! Thank you for supporting my art.

Title: The Star Machine. Author: Jeanine Basinger. Publisher: Alfred A. Knopf. Origin: New York. Publication date: 2007. Edition: First edition. Description: 586 p. sm. 4to. Publisher's hardcover, gilt title stamped on spine over off-white paper, illustrated with 221 photographs, matte black/white photo illustrated dust jacket. Measures; 1.5 W x 6.75 D x 9.5 H inches. About the author and work: With revelatory insights and delightful asides, Jeanine Basinger (JB) shows us how the studio “star machine” worked when it worked, how it failed when it didn't, and how irrelevant it could sometimes be. She gives us case studies focusing on big stars groomed into the system: the “awesomely beautiful” (and disillusioned) Tyrone Power; the seductive, disobedient Lana Turner; and a dazzling cast of others. She anatomizes their careers, showing how their fame happened, and what happened to them as a result. Deeply engrossing, full of energy, wit, and wisdom, The Star Machine is destined to become a classic of the film canon. JB holds a BS and MS from South Dakota State University. She is a film historian, professor of Film Studies at Wesleyan University and curator and founder of The Cinema Archives at Wesleyan University. In addition, she is a trustee emeritus of the American Film Institute, a member of the Steering Committee of the National Center for Film and Video Preservation, and one of the Board of Advisors for the Association of Independent Video and Filmmakers. JB has appeared in several movie-related documentaries and completed audio commentaries on about a dozen classic films. less

Sagan's experiences upon discovering and holding the preserved brain of nineteenth-century surgeon, anthropologist, and neurologist Paul Broca lead to speculations on the primitive elements of the human mind and the ways the human brain today is coping with new discoveries about the cosmos “Magnificent . . . Delightful . . . A masterpiece. A message of tremendous hope for humanity . . . While ever conscious that human folly can terminate man’s march into the future, Sagan nonetheless paints for us a mind-boggling future: intelligent robots, the discovery of extraterrestrial life and its consequences, and above all the challenge and pursuit of the mystery of the universe.”—Chicago Tribune “Go out and buy this book, because Carl Sagan is not only one of the world’s most respected scientists, he’s a great writer. . . . I can give a book no greater accolade than to say I’m planning on reading it again. And again. And again.”—The Miami Herald “The brilliant astronomer . . . is persuasive, provocative and readable.”—United Press International Carl Sagan served as the David Duncan Professor of Astronomy and Space Sciences and Director of the Laboratory for Planetary Studies at Cornell University. He played a leading role in the Mariner, Viking, Voyager, and Galileo spacecraft expeditions, for which he received the NASA Medals for Exceptional Scientific Achievement and (twice) for Distinguished Public Service. The accompanying book, also called Cosmos, is one of the bestselling science books ever published in the English language. Dr. Sagan received the Pulitzer Prize, the Oersted Medal, and many other awards—including twenty honorary degrees from American colleges and universities—for his contributions to science, literature, education, and the preservation of the environment.
