Hammurabi’s Code of Law Debate is all you need to to have your 6-8 graders engaged in learning ancient history. This Hammurabi’s Code of Law Debate is a project based resource which includes collaborative activities that are fun and engaging. This Hammurabi’s Code of Law Debate resource is a great one to have your students understand what is happening in the world today. As Hammurabi created the first law codes for mankind's improved life, it serves as a starting point to explore contemporary laws such as our second amendment, equal rights, health care, etc. This resource will help your students imagen the kind of life Hammurabi's reign provided to its people. This was a time of no laws and full of violent crimes, there was no justice. Cross-curricular Options: LANGUAGE ARTS , During the debate, the students will actively participate by taking notes and selecting a minimum of 2-4 laws, with the option to choose more, and then compose an argumentative essay expressing their personal opinions about the chosen laws. This approach ensures their active engagement throughout the debate. Instead of using traditional methods like lecturing, reading texts, writing definitions, or answering questions, which can be tedious and disengaging, students will become active learners. By actively participating in their studies, they will develop a better understanding and grasp of the subject matter, rather than being passive recipients of information that might disinterest them.
