Capacities to choose from: 4 oz / 120 ml 5.4- 6oz/160-180ml 8.5 oz / 250 ml Approx. measures: 8.5 oz / 250 ml Ø = 3.3''/8,5 cm height = 2.8''/7 cm 5.4- 6oz/160-180ml Ø = 3.1''/8 cm height = 2.3''/6cm 4 oz / 120 ml Ø = 2.8''/7 cm height = 2''/5cm Ceramic cup made from fantastic spotted clay, transparent glossy glaze inside, and the hand-painted pattern outside. The outside surface is clear clay, fantastic in touch, pure beauty. I recommend trying at least one such outside unglazed raw cup as its touch is gorgeous and in my opinion, better protects against heat than a glazed surface. Make a stunning tumbler, sign, mug, and more with my free 3D floral sublimation designs bundle! When I saw some beautiful sublimation projects with a 3D effect, I immediately want to make some designs to try! And I’m so happy with how they came out, I’m sharing them in a 3D Floral Sublimation Designs Bundle...
Knowing how to tape a skinny tumbler for sublimation with a mug press is important to get the best results! If you are getting white spots or ghosting when sublimating 20 oz tumblers it could be due to how you're wrapping the tumbler and taping. Taping keeps the sublimation print tight around the skinny tumbler and it keeps air and wrinkles out which can cause ghosting and spotting specifically along the seam and at the top and bottom of the tumbler. How to Trim a Sublimation Template for a Skinny Tumbler Before you even get to taping you'll need to trim down the printed sublimation sheet. I get all of my commercial free sublimation templates for tumblers from So Fontsy. There are more than a thousand downloadable 20oz skinny sublimation templates available. After you print the skinny tumbler wrap on your sublimation printer you need to trim off the white margins. It's important to make sure the sublimation print is trimmed so it does not overhang the bottom of the tumbler at all. The bottom of most skinny tumblers curves in and around slightly towards the bottom. You want the print to be completely flush above that curved area so the paper doesn't have to wrap around that little edge. You'll get white spots on those wrinkled areas otherwise. You also want to make sure there is NO white at all on at least three sides of the tumbler. You can have a small margin of white on one of the short sides of the print. Use a paper trimmer or scissors to trim off the white. Now it's time to tape. How to Tape a Skinny Tumbler for Sublimation To tape a skinny tumbler to prepare for sublimation in a mug press, stand the tumbler upside down on a flat surface. Make sure the printed sublimation sheet is also upside down if the orientation matters. Wrap the print tightly around the tumbler making sure that if you left a small white margin on one side, that it is overlapping the other side at seam. Use a piece of high temperature tape and place it on the overlap side in the middle and pull it tight as you wrap and press it horizontally across the seam. Repeat this two more times towards the top of the tumbler and towards the bottom. Now you want to take a long piece of tape and run it along the entire length of the seam. Flip the tumbler over so the top is now facing up. There should be no overhang at all. Use small pieces of tape (1-2" max) and put them half on the sublimation paper and then fold over tightly into the inside of the tumbler. Do this all the way around the top of the tumbler. Repeat on the bottom. Press all the tape down well. You want to keep the air out and prevent any wrinkles where air could get in. Now you can go ahead and move forward with sublimating the tumbler in the mug press. If you've never used a mug press to sublimate a 20oz skinny tumbler, this is the method I use with my mug press that's part of my 8-in-1 heat press. When the time is up, remove the tumbler from the press. I recommend immediately dunking in cold water to cool the tumbler down and stop the sublimation process. Remove the sublimation wrap paper and tape. Wipe the tumbler down and you're all done! It's it beautiful and I love that there is no sublimation ghosting or white spots at the top or bottom of the tumbler! Note: This post may contain affiliate links. If you're comparing mug press machines it's not always easy to know which mug press attachments will work with various size and shape mugs and tumblers. Mug press attachments vary by height and pad thickness which impacts what diameter mugs and tumblers will fit...and each manufacture is different. Because of the number of questions I have been getting about what mugs and tumblers can fit in the mug press that's part of the Swing Design 8 in 1 heat press I have put together a chart to help. The same four attachments are included in the Swing Design 4 in 1 mug press - so it can accommodate all the same drinkware. When it comes to Mug Press attachments it really all comes down to the diameter and shape. Straight Mug Press Attachment Both the 15" 8 in 1 swing away heat press and the 4 in 1 mug press machine include two 4.5" straight mug attachments. One has a thicker pad - which can accommodate skinnier mugs and tumblers including the popular 20oz skinny tumblers and water bottles that have a diameter of at least 2.75". The other straight mug attachment, that's included with the Swing Design 4 in 1 mug press and Swing Design 8 in 1 heat press with mug press, has a thinner pad for wider mugs and tumblers. FYI - The thinner pad 4.5" straight mug attachment is the same one that's used on the basic standalone mug press. This attachment can not be changed out on the basic single mug press. When using one of the mug presses with attachments, once you choose between which pad thickness you'll be using you can get the full range of pressure by adjusting the pressure knob on the mug press. For 20 and 30 oz skinny tumblers you want to increase the pressure to close the mug attachment as much as possible. For wider diameter drinkware including 16 or 20 oz mugs you'll want to turn the pressure knob the other way to reduce the pressure allowing wider diameter mugs to fit. Conical Mug Press Attachments Two conical mug attachments are also included - but instead of the pad thickness being different, these have the same width pad but the height of the attachment is different. The smaller conical mug press attachment is for latte mugs, while the taller one works well for conical tumblers like coffee travel mugs and stainless steel tumblers. I have found you can also use the taller conical mug tumbler attachment to sublimate stemless wine tumblers with the mug press. How to Change Mug Press Attachments To swap out the mug press attachments, remove all four screws and slide off the attachment. Then put the new attachment into position and replace the screws. There's a lot of info packed into this post so if you need a handy reference just pin this graphic for easy reference on which mug attachment to use for your mugs, tumblers, and drinkware. In this tutorial, we'll show you how to etch a tumbler - without using a laser. Instead, we're using an inexpensive product you can get at your local hardware store! You can find the Good Vibes Only design we used to create our custom tumbler, in the September 2022 Design Bundle. You will need a powder coated tumbler. Cut out your stencil with your Cricut, Silhouette Cameo, or ScanNCut - we used Oracal 651 for our stencil design. Weed the stencil by removing the parts that you'll cover with the etching solution. You want to apply your stencil to a clean tumbler. Wipe it down with rubbing alcohol. Apply the stencil so it's nice and smooth. Use blue painter's tape to mask off the area outside the stencil to protect it from getting the solution on it. Here's the solution we'll be using - CitriStrip. You will need to wear personal protective equipment such as gloves. Be sure to read the manufacturer's recommendations on the bottle. You'll also need a small plastic cup, a brush, foil and a heat gun. Begin by using the brush to apply a generous coat of the CitriStrip over the stencil. Make sure to generously cover the entire stencil. Cover the stencil area with a layer of foil. Use a heat gun on low heat to heat up this area for a few minutes (2-3). Use a toothpick or other pointy object to check that the solution is removing the powder coat. If not, reapply the foil and apply more heat. When the toothpick does scrape away the powder coat, take a paper towel with rubbing alcohol and rub it over the stencil and remove the excess solution. Wash the tumbler with soap and water and remove the stencil. If the edges of the design are jagged, use a toothpick to gently pick at the edges to clean them up. How cool!!! Grab this design we used to etch this tumbler in the September 2022 Design Bundle! Watch the project video below: PIN it for later:
