Mini Mad Hatter Headband | Alice in Wonderland\r\nThere's something downright empowering about wearing something on your head, don't you agree? ...Okay, okay, allow us to explain.\nA crown, a headband, a gorgeous and tasteful hat--all of it, any of it, we'll take it. Like, how do you feel when you have the opportunity to bestow upon yourself some new noggin ornament that attracts attention all the world over. It's nice to feel noticed, you know? And there's no better spotlight than the perfect headdress.\nCrowns are downright royal, conveying a sense of importance that we rather enjoy. Tasteful hats, meanwhile, can be difficult to get just right. When's it right, for instance, to wear a fascinator? Because we wore ours to grab coffee the other day and the stares we got were, erm, less than admiring. When do you go ball cap over beanie? It's a hard call to make, right?!\nBut headbands... Boy oh boy do we love a good headband. All the worries we associate with other headwear go right out the window with headbands because there's such a myriad of choices to pick from. There are dark, discreet headbands used solely for utilitarian purposes, there are animal headbands that give us a quick second set of ears, and then there are costume headbands like this officially licensed Mini Mad Hatter Headband. In this all-polyester velvet headband that seems to allow a hat to defy gravity on your head, you go from beautiful party-goer to a beautiful Mini Mad Hatter! See what we mean about their sheer versitility and effect now? Ah, the power of a good headband.
Definitely a one-of-a-kind quilt with the "crown" appliqued in the middle! The quilt shown uses over 150 bags in many colors. The background fabric is purple with an edge-to-edge "crown" quilting in gold. For a simpler quilt using 24 bags (any colors), the bags will surround the crown on all sides with a wider border. The size will be approximately 60" x 48" (5 feet long by 4 feet wide). Should you wish additional bags in the quilt (more than the 24 that you will send), there is an additional charge of $2.00 each, to be sent with the bags. If you need additional bags, please send me a message to see if I have them available, and in what color(s); this will also be a $2.00 per bag additional charge. Once you place your order and Etsy approves and forwards it to me, I will send a message where to send your bags (and any additional fees, if any). If you don’t have enough Crown Royal bags, we can use the blank side or I may be able to purchase additional bags at your cost. Message me for details and current turn around time.

Sorry I haven't been updating my blog very much, but if you want to get the latest photos, and updates on my current projects - be sure to "LIKE" my facebook page!! So here they are: My latest Crown Royal Quilts are complete! This is the "block" - and because these blocks are so BIG, these quilts are not as versatile as the old crown royal quilt pattern. https://www.craftsy.com/quilting/patterns/royal-star-/194359 These are only available in Twin-size or bigger. Here are the "special" crown royal quilt bags /logos that were used in this quilt. I used these special colors and textures for the cornerstones, so that the main blocks would stay consistent. Here is the center quilt pre-borders For the border star blocks, the lights and darks were reversed. I've made SOOO many of them the opposite way, I screwed up a gazillion times and had to do ALOT of seam-ripping/unpicking ;c) For the borders stars I used the gold/leather crown royal quilt. and purple background. Here are the two finished tops! I used the leftover bag material from the BACK and SIDES of the crown royal bags for the sashing. For all the other purple areas I used a mottled purple quilting fabric. Here are the two quilt tops on the wall, without flash ;c) My camera seems to have trouble capturing the color purple. Here is me quilting the quilt with my big-guy machine ;c) Yes, I think the name of my sewing machine is "big guy" . . I never claimed to be creative. LOL For the backing I used a purple minky fleece. When I ordered it from fabric.com, I thought it was just as dark as the purple quilting fabric and the crown royal bags. But when it showed up in the mail it was a bit lighter. Like a lavender or something. Here are the 3 quilts finished! I used gold binding on one, and purple binding on the other. Here's a shot of the backing. . it's the same on both quilts.

I have been working on this for the past 2 days. I will not put any other quilt on the frame until I have finished piecing this quilt. It will be next. This quilt was commissioned by some very good friends of ours. I have been working on it-off and on- for almost 2 years. Mind you, we sold the farm in Idaho, moved to Ohio during this time....and I had a surgery....yada, yada..... These friends are headed out to visit us next month and spend a few days. Now, my goal is to have it on the bed when they get here! Here are the finished blocks I am making from the bags. I was able to create a way to use up all most all of the fabric in the bag and the gold braid to boot! Here's how it works: I cut off the drawstring casing and fish out the braid--taking care not to cut the braid because I will need every millimeter of it for the block. I cut off the knot and fish out the braid There is a 36" length of braid in each bag. Here's what I end up with...when I get a dozen bags dissected, I iron everything and start assembling the blocks. If I have cut the bag extremely carefully, I can get two 9.5 x 2.25 inch strips from the side length. I need to cut the bottom curve off the front piece right where the width is 4 inches. Sew the front to the back... Centering the words, trim this to 9.5 x 4 inches. Not much left of the bag and I am saving the chunk left from the back, I might use it later. Here we are: the braid is stitched 3/4 inch in from the edge of the block making a nice frame. I am getting close to my final number of 60 blocks this afternoon!
