You guys! Have I ever mentioned how much I love Thanksgiving? You see...most people in my life know me as a crocheter, but they know me as a home cook first. Cooking is my salvation. It is my passion. It is my art form. So...I think it only seems logical that my favorite things to crochet are always food related. So, here I am in the midst of planning out the ultimate Thanksgiving menu, one that will ensure my entire family enter food comas immediately after consumption, and I thought I should share a really fun pattern with you guys! I cooked up this Turkey Purse pattern a few months ago when I was already dreaming of Thanksgiving and the marathon cooking I would get to do. It's a drawstring Turkey Purse, but I plan on also making one into a pillow. I'll just leave out the row for weaving in the drawstring, then stuff and sew that baby up upon completion! I would also like to note that I studied many cooked turkey photos on google before deciding that this was indeed the proper set up for sewing on the wings and drumsticks. I don't want to admit how long I dedicated to making sure they were properly placed. Some of the pictures made it difficult to see the actual placement and I seriously considered making a turkey back in August when I was cooking up this pattern just so that I could be sure. This purse is super fun and has become quite popular in my Etsy shop. As always, I encourage you to sell whatever you make from my patterns if that is what you want to do. Just please do not sell or distribute this pattern as your own and please use your own photos. If you feel inclined to share this pattern anywhere please share the link to this blog post and do not post the actual pattern anywhere. This pattern is fairly easy without any special stitches, however I do need to mention that I do my HDC2TOG or HDC decrease stitch slightly different than normal. It shouldn't have any effect on the final product if you should choose to do a normal HDC decrease stitch. I just prefer my method to the regular because I feel like it gives a more uniform HDC look throughout whatever it is that I am making. My version just has one minor difference than the normal stitch. It goes like so: Yarn over and insert hook into next stitch. Pull up a loop. There should be 3 loops on your hook here. Insert hook into next stitch and pull up a loop. There should be 4 loops on your hook. Yarn over and pull through all 4 loops. That's it. The only thing you're leaving out is a yarn over before inserting into the second stitch. The reason I prefer to do it this way is that it makes less of a bump. I might be the only hooker on Earth that thinks a normal HDC decrease looks too bumpy! It sounds silly, but I just think it looks better in the long run. I didn't have any testers for this pattern because I poured over it myself for many hours to make sure it was correct, but I do realize I could possibly make a typing error. I've read through this blog post several times now and it all looks good to go, but if you do encounter anything that looks like an error please do not hesitate to contact me. I feel like the pattern is easy enough that you should be able to continue on regardless, but I don't want to leave possible errors up. *Edited to add a little tip- When it comes time to sew the pieces onto my bird I like to "stuff" the purse. I put a few handfuls of polyfill into a ziploc bag and put it inside the purse. It helps me figure out the best placement when the turkey has that nice plump shape.* Without further ado I present to you the main dish- Thanksgiving Turkey Purse Worsted weight yarn 5.5 mm hook Notes: I used I Love This Yarn in Sungold (For that perfect golden turkey skin.) **Also, unless otherwise noted you will join each row with a slip stitch and then chain one. Fijn weekend allemaal! Liefs, Lola

I was inspired by the Outlander TV series to create some more textured crochet items for my store. After making a few fingerless gloves, I took a stab at creating my own design. I came up with this pattern almost a year ago and finally decided to type it up and offer it for free. Happy Holidays! These woman's gloves fit small-medium depending on your tension. For a larger size, you can go up in hook size or add stitches to the side hdc section. The top of the glove is worked in turning rows and then stitched together up the back. I like working these flat, but of course, you could join and turn as you work. As a matter of fact people have had really strong feelings about not stitching up the back. Do whatever you feel comfortable with! I tried to make this pattern as easy to follow as possible with the color coded sections, but I would not recommend this project for beginners. Here is a helpful Celtic weave video tutorial from Pattern Paradise. US crochet terms Worsted weight yarn Hook size G(4.25) BPTC= Back Post Treble Crochet FPTC= Front Post Treble Crochet Wristband Ch 16 (Feel free to adjust length to make longer or shorter cuffs) 1. Sc in second from hook and in each chain to the end. Ch 1, turn(15) 2.-28. 15 sc in BLO. ch 1, turn (15) Join last row to beginning chain with sl st to form the cuff. Turn inside out so that the sl st seam is on the inside. Rotate to work top of glove along the sides of the rows. *Note: I have 28 rows for the cuff and then I say to work 30 hdc in row 1 top of glove. I did this because I have skinny wrists and preferred my cuff to be tighter. It means you will have to work 2 hdc in a couple of the stitches for row 1 top of glove. If it makes you more comfortable, you can increase the cuff to 30 rows for it to come out even. LEFT GLOVE Top of glove 1. Ch 2, work 30 hdc into ends of sc rows on cuff. Pokemon Go revived nostalgic feelings in many of us, and it was incredible to see the number of people it brought out to the parks this summer. Turban-style hats are so elegant. I recently knitted one in seed stitch based on a 1940s pattern but wanted something that was a little easier to wear, so I scooted over to Jo-Ann Fabrics and picked up a trusty skein of Lion Brand Vanna's Choice for a crocheted version. I'm really happy about this color. I've always been drawn to mustard yellow, especially during the fall, and Vanna's Choice has it in the perfect hue. At the time, I also happened to be reading The History of Love by Nicole Krauss, so this pattern is named after Alma Singer, a clever, quirky character in the story. Here's to you, Alma. Materials: Vanna's Choice Yarn in "Mustard" (worsted-weight yarn, one skein) H hook (5.00 mm) tapestry needle Abbreviations: ch: chain st: stitch sl st: slip stitch dc: double crochet bpdc: back post double crochet Gauge: 4 sts and 2 rows = 1" in double crochet Hat: This hat best fits a 21" - 22" head. Adjust the size by adding or removing increase rounds. Note that you will be joining the end of each round with a sl st in the first dc of the round, skipping the chain-2. The chain-2 does not count as a stitch but is used to minimize the obviousness of the join in the first six rounds. (Sarah at Repeat Crafter Me has pictures demonstrating the method!) The seam is going to be visible in rounds 7 through 22 due to the bpdc stitches used, but it will conveniently serve as a guide when you have to baste. It will later be hidden by flowers in the last step. Round 1: Create a magic ring, ch 2, 12 dc in magic ring, join with sl st. (12 st) Round 2: Ch 2, 2 dc in each st around, join with sl st. (24 st) Round 3: Ch 2, (dc in first st, 2 dc in next st), repeat from ( to ) around, join with sl st. (36 st) Round 4: Ch 2, (dc in first 2 st, 2 dc in next st), repeat from ( to ) around, join with sl st. (48 st) Round 5: Ch 2, (dc in first 3 st, 2 dc in next st), repeat from ( to ) around, join with sl st. (60 st) Round 6: Ch 2, (dc in first 4 st, 2 dc in next st), repeat from ( to ) around, join with sl st. (72 st) The piece should measure approximately 6" in diameter at this point. Round 7: Ch 2, bpdc in each st around, join with sl st. (72 st) Round 8: Ch 2, dc in each st around, join with sl st. (72 st) Round 9-22: Repeat rounds 7 and 8. (72 st) Fasten off, leaving a tail at least 12" long. Thread the tail through a tapestry needle and baste along the seam from round 7 to round 22. Pull to gather and sew in place. Flower (make 3): Ch 48. Row 1: Dc in 3rd ch from hook, (ch 1, dc) four times in the same ch, skip 2 ch, sl st in next ch. [Skip 2 ch, dc in next ch, (ch 1, dc) four times in the same ch, skip 2 ch, sl st in next ch], repeat from [ to ] across. (8 petals total) I've also drawn up a chart in case this helps you visualize the pattern better: Fasten off, leaving a tail at least 20" long. Thread the tail through a tapestry needle. Begin rolling up the piece from one end, sewing the tail through the bottom edge as you roll. Sew each completed flower over the gathered part of the hat. And you're done!
