Today I am sharing How to make a Granny Stool Cover. This project is perfect for using up scraps so gather your yarny scraps and lets get started. I used some yarn from my cotton stash. All my yarn is of Sport Weight and used my 3 mm hook. So, you've got your yarn and hook. I am using U.K terms in my instructions. Lets go. Start on a Granny Square - my style. I make my Granny Square like this: ROUND 1: Chain 6, join to make a ring with a slip stitch in your first chain. Chain 3 (your first treble), make 2 trebles in the ring, chain 3, make 3 trebles in the ring. Repeat this until you have 4 groups of 3 trebles (called clusters) and join the round with a slip stitch in the 3rd chain of your first treble. Fasten off. You have completed your first round. ROUND 2: Add a new color (see a great tutorial on how to do this here) and chain 3, make 2 trebles in the corner chain 3, make 3 trebles in the same corner, chain 1, make 3 trebles in the next corner, chain 3, make another 3 trebles in the same corner, chain 1 etc. Repeat this until you have finished your round. From ROUND 3 and onwards: Add a new color and chain 3, make 2 trebles in the corner, chain 3, make 3 trebles in the same corner, chain 1, make 3 trebles in the space between clusters in the previous round, chain 1, make 3 trebles in the next corner, chain 3, make another 3 trebles in the same corner, chain 1, make 3 trebles in the space between the clusters in the previous round, chain 1 etc. Repeat this until you have finished your round 3 and continue to do this every round after until your square is big enough for your stool. I make the Granny Square slightly smaller than the top of the stool. This way it will become snug instead of floppy when finished. Now you add a new color and start a new round on your Granny Square BUT (!) stop making 1 chain in between the clusters and only make ONE group of 3 trebles in the corners - VOILA! Do you see how the square automatically folds up/down to make a "skirt"? And you see how it fits snug on the top of the stool now? Continue to make rounds of 3 trebles without any chains in between until you have the length you desire of your stool cover. I made 7 rows for the "skirt". My last row is a simple edging made like this: Add a new color with a slip stitch between 2 clusters anywhere on the side as this makes for a more neat joining at the end, chain 4, slip stitch between the next 2 clusters. Repeat until the round is finished and join with a slip stitch in your first slip stitch. Sew in, fasten off, weave in, secure, finish all your ends (tutorial here). VOILA! Your Granny Stool Cover is finished and fab-fantastic gorgeous! If you have any questions, if you find any errors or anything else regarding my tutorial, please drop a line. If you make a Granny Stool Cover, please let me now by leaving a trail so that I can see your beauty. I hope you will enjoy this quick little project as much as I am. I am already planning for yet another stool cover. And I will start hunting for more stools at thrift markets to dress. :D Kärlek Annette

A simple white cotton cover with a glimmer of gold for Emily's tailor-made stool. The golden detail was her idea and I am delighted with the shimmering result. The stool is on it's way to London now. Truth be told; I need to make another one for ourselves, i think it is too cute! The COLUMBIA ROAD photo book by Johanna Neurath, I got from my cousin Afra a few months ago. Columbia Road is the home to London's most iconic flower market. Come closing time, Johanna turns her lens to what is left behind; the discarded flowers, the used packaging, the buckets of water... I'm obviously fond of flowers and admire her inspiring way of floral photography. Good thing is, I will visit London with my son Minne soon and surely will drop by to the flower market (and the fine neighborhoods over there)
