The Granny Go Round cardigan is the sister pattern of the popular Granny Go Round Jumper! A top down, raglan cardigan worked in Granny stitch with DK yarn to keep you snug through the cool summer nights and winter months. It has a cropped body and sleeves but these can easily be lengthened, or keep it cropped for a fun, festival-ready bomber jacket! You can use any DK yarn providing the gauge is met. The pattern uses Hayfield Bonus DK which is quite a thick DK yarn, so bear this in mind when substituting yarns. The pattern is available in UK and US crochet terms and is intermediate level. The yoke requires some concentration but the body and sleeves are super straightforward. You’ll need a 4mm (G/6) hook & 5 x 20mm (3/4 in) buttons or toggles. There are many video tutorials for this pattern on my YouTube channel at youtube.com/@Iron_lamb SIZING: XS: Actual bust: 72-76cm - garment width: 42cm S: Actual bust: 82-86cm - garment width: 47cm M: Actual bust: 92-96cm - garment width: 52cm L: Actual bust: 102-106cm - garment width: 56cm XL: Actual bust: 112-116cm - garment width: 62cm 2XL: Actual bust: 122-126cm - garment width: 66cm 3XL: Actual bust: 132-136cm - garment width: 72cm 4XL: Actual bust: 142-146cm - garment width: 76cm Total cardigan DK yarn quantities: XS = 372g/1042m S = 420g/1176m M = 468g /1310m L = 517g/1448m XL = 565g/1582m 2XL = 614g/1719m 3XL = 661g/1851m 4XL = 710g/1988m Yarn quantities with 5 colours: Yarn A is used for neckband, cuffs, hem & stripes. The Som Cardigan is a top down cardigan worked in an eyelet pattern. First, the back yoke is worked in short rows in eyelet pattern to construct the shoulder slope. Next, stitches for each shoulder are picked up along the back yoke and worked back and forth. When the shoulder pieces are done, the back and the shoulders are joined together and worked flat to the hem. For the sleeves, stitches are picked up around the armhole and then short rows are worked for a shoulder cap. The rest of the sleeves are worked in the round and are finished with a puff silhouette. Finally, the button bands are worked in rib along the front body and the neck. The Som Cardigan requires the following techniques: casting on, picking up stitches, knit and purl stitches, yarn overs, increases (M1L, M1R), decreases (k2tog, ssk, p2tog, ssp, CDD), German short rows, double knitting and tubular bind off. The pattern comes with the short and the long version I use to call these type of sweaters ‘Collar with sleeves’ :) because I am here for a maximum warm neck … and a good shoulder fit of course The REBEL cardigan is worked seamlessly from the top down. Start working the collar separately. Then the back stitches are picked up from the collar and the upper back is shaped with increases. Stitches are then picked up from each side of the back to work the shoulders. All pieces are then joined to work the yoke with increases for the body and sleeves down to sleeve separation. The sleeve stitches are then placed on hold, underarm sts are cast on, and you continue to work the body to the bottom. After the body is completed, the sleeve sts are worked top down in the round to the end. Beside of weaving in the ends, there is no further finishing required. Last year, my dad mentioned he couldn't find the perfect sweater. He wanted something unique, not just off the shelf. I took this as my cue to try something new - crocheting a sweater. I'd made scarves and hats before, but a sweater felt like a big step up. I looked up crochet men's sweater patterns, found a few that seemed doable, and decided to dive in. It was going to be a surprise, so I chose a cardigan pattern I thought he'd love. The first attempt wasn't perfect, but it taught me a lot. Each stitch, each row helped
