I like to craft stuff and crafting it with the kids is a huge plus by me. I have also been looking at items in the shops in a new way, how can we play with this? My almost 3 year old is a collector, he loves to sort toys and various items by color, size and then line them up for inspection. The one day in the shop he saw some popsicle sticks being cheap and lots of them, they came home with us.

My friend pinned this on Pinterest the other day: And I thought, hey that would make a super cute toddler activity! And, how fun would it be to make some seasonal themed puzzles! I decided to make a set to send to my little niece since my kids are a little too old for these. Although, my eight year old had a blast helping me with these today! Here's what we did: First we printed off some cute Fall pictures--just regular 4x6 prints from Walmart. I like to put my pictures on photo paper whenever I am going to glue them to something. Photo paper won't wrinkle or tear when you're working with it, and the quality of the finished product is just better! Then, we cut the pictures into sections just a tiny bit smaller than the width of a big craft popsicle stick. Next, we Mod Podged the strips to the craft sticks. And that's pretty much it! Here's a look at a few of the puzzles we made... We just put each puzzle in it's own ziplock sandwich bag, and put them in a box. I think this weekend I will sew her a cute little Halloween purse to carry these around in. Such a cute and easy little project! All of these adorable pictures come from Just So Scrappy which you can find HERE! Have a great weekend! Hi crafty bloggers - it's great to see you here! We have another fabulous challenge for you at Addicted to CAS The Code Word has been chosen by the very talented Loll, and here it is.... Here is my DT card - rainwater and umbrellas were the first things to spring to mind when I saw the Code Word (probably something to do with the UK weather)! It’s time to catch a Leprechaun. The kids and I have been trying to catch a leprechaun for at least 10 years, now. This year, we tweaked our trap a little bit. We added some more gold, and a sign to entice them. I’m feeling pretty confident about it. With St. Patrick’s Day just around …

we've had two large cardboard tubes sitting around the house from some oilcloth i purchased a few months ago... they've gone from room to room, inside and outside... serving as tunnels, ramps, amplifiers... i started wondering what else we can do with them. leo was a little concerned at first, since he wasn't quite sure he wanted to cut it up. but once reassured we still had one left that wouldn't be cut, he was intrigued. we gathered some materials... (i think i went a little overboard with the saw... a utility knife worked just fine. better, even.) cut the long tube into smaller sections... and then cut those sections in half... then hot glued them onto a large piece of cardboard. we gathered random things we thought might roll... (i had a pretty good suspicion that one of the things in that bucket wouldn't roll, but leo just wanted to make sure...) climbed up onto the stepstool, and tried it out! in the end, the ping pong balls and the wooden balls worked out the best... some larger things needed to be pushed along... once leo added the tunnels, the ping pong balls were the only ones to make it through. a great activity for shape identification, predictions (will it or won't it roll?), gross motor (we eventually tried to throw the ping pong balls onto the ramps from a distance), and just some general fun!
Paint Paddles are NOT just for mixing paint. :) I Decided to make some Bible Facts Review Sticks. These are based off something I saw on Pinterest. (BTW, I love Pinterest!!!) I have by no means exhausted ALL the Bible Facts, List, People, etc. Matter-of-Fact, I need to finish the one I am making for the Kings of Israel, The Prophets of both the Northern and Southern Nations, The Beatitudes, Acts of Worship, Parables, Jesus Attributes, etc. These will be used as an EAA...for the first few weeks....However, I am probably going to be using them as I teach on the topics, too. Letting each one of the Kiddos ADD a piece as we talk about the subject. I am also considering using this method as a WAY of telling the Bible Story....If I do, You will see it here on the website. Enough of my rambling.....This is how I made these. I purchased these LARGER paddles for $0.28 each at Walmart. Then, I printed and laminated pictures from our Bible Flip Facts Charts....making sure to make ONE picture for the HEADER pic that I glued on the TOP of the paddle. I then attached the prickly side of adhesive VELCRO strips to the paddle. I then attached the soft side to the pics. My thoughts being... LITTLE HANDS would be holding the pictures and I did not want them to get stuck by the prickly Velcro. It really did not take much time to make these....Cutting out the little pieces took the longest time....but, I can "watch" more like LISTEN to a movie or the news while cutting out laminated items. :) Days Of Creation Paddle Putting It In Order. This is how we will use the Review Sticks. I will be handing the KIDDOS a Paint Paddle with all the Velcro pieces in a baggie. Then they will have to PUT the pieces on the Paint Paddle in the CORRECT ORDER. (With my help and encouragement, of course.) Completed! These are ready to go for SUNDAY. We will be using them as this weeks EAA!!!!! I love it when I get to give the KIDDOS something "NEW" to do. And, anything that helps them LEARN their Bible Facts!!!!! Hope you are excited about this FUN, EASY and CHEAP way to help our KIDDOS learn their Bible FACTS! Blessings, Ronda
Hey Everybody! Happy Mother's Day to all you Moms out there, whether you are a mom, mum, mummy, mother, Nana, Oma or whatever term of endearment is used for you. I wish you a wonderful day! Today I've been using some of my Mom time to finish up a mini album I've been working on. I've made this little one out of paper bags and the rockin' paper collection "Free to Be Me" from Close To My Heart. It's a colorful, fun paper collection that just got my creative juices flowing, and this is the result: The chipboard cover is wrapped in black cardstock, then decorated with the embossed teal blue paper from the collection. I chose a "Life is Good" theme to go with these cheery colors. The film strip is cut using my Cricut and the Artbooking cartridge. The feather is also cut with the Cricut using the Artiste cartridge. The reel life accent is stamped using the Reel Life stamp set, also from CTMH. I used some old Scrabble tiles I bought at a garage sale (knowing they'd come in handy sometime) to make the title. I hung a chunky charm from the spine, with ribbon, beads (from an old necklace) a little brass-bound book, and a key. I like the "crazy hair" look of the ribbons sticking up from the charm. There are six base pages in the album, each made from a bag with a cardstock flip-out attachment. Inside the front cover is a vellum pocket using the feather vellum in the paper collection, mounted on black cardstock. A big tag serves as a photo mat, and three feathers accent the pocket. These were stamped with the CTMH Feathers stamp set and fussy cut. The right side of the page has a belly band with a stop that holds two journaling spots. Each of the six pages has a large flap and all the main pages easily display a 4" x 6" photograph. On the left of each page is a pocket that holds a bi-fold photo mat that can house two 3" x 3" photos. The right side of this page has a photo flap that is magnetized and flips up. Three pockets of varying sizes on this page assembly. The outside corners of each of the page flaps are cut with a Fiskars corner punch to pretty them up a little. The cute little mats on this page were cut from the paper collection, black cardstock and a single sheet of graph paper cardstock I had in my stash. I stamped the words using the All The Details stamp set. White Daisy pigment ink on the black cardstock makes it look like a little chalk board which I love. This page has a pocket set on an angle and open on two sides, then a little ticket helps hold the mats in place. A tiny camera accent is also stamped and fussy cut. (Used the True to Life and Sightseer stamp sets for those) Another magnetized flapped mat for this page, paired with a little side pocket and mini journaling mat. Inside the back cover I built a waterfall feature that mats fourteen 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" photos. I love how it showcases the gorgeous papers. Each pullout mat has a large area to mat a 4" x 6" photo as well as a journaling spot below each. Lots of real estate in this mini album which measures only 5" x 8 1/2". So that's the latest mini from c1make1. I hope you enjoyed it and are inspired to go build one yourself! As always, feel free to contact me with any questions you might have. For instructions, Ginger of My Sisters Scrapper has a great YouTube series on building a vertical paper bag mini album. You can get this awesome paper collection for a measly $5 with a $50 purchase this month only from Close To My Heart. You can shop with me here on my site, or through your nearest CTMH Independent Consultant. Thanks for stopping by and stay tuned for my next creation, coming soon! Cheers!
Hi everyone. Today I'm sharing the birthday card I made for my youngest son's birthday. :) Jer loved the artsy design! :) For the card I used a piece of alcohol ink drop paper that I created recently ... bright orange, yellow and lime green. I die-cut it with the sticks frame, along with cutting a second frame from black. I used snippets of black and alcohol ink panels to create the main focal point of my card, so I'm heading over to the Snippets Playground for some fun! ETA: Thanks to Trina and Darnell for giving me a prompt, I'm entering into the Less Is More #329 - Geometric. :) Thanks for stopping by for a visit! Stamps: Many Everyday Messages (Hero Arts) Paper: White (Neehan 110 lb. card stock); Yupo Ink: Alcohol Inks: Tangerine Orange, Sunbright Yellow (Pinata); Citrus (Ranger) Accessories & Tools: Blending solution, Stick Frames die (Poppy Stamps) Challenges: Snippets Playground - Week 281 & 282 Less Is More #329 - Geometric
I think these secret book boxes are pretty neat. You can keep it simple or you can add sections to it if you're looking for a more organized look. I chose to keep it simple since I'm going to store paintbrushes and craft tools in mine. What You'll Need: - A Large Old Book (You will need one that is at least 2 1/2 inches thick. I got mine at the thrift store. They have 100's of huge old books there. Get your book there.) - Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks Knife (You can use a kitchen knife. I used a crafting knife here) - 2, 1/8" Thick 3X2 pieces of wood (I used 1/4" thick wood since they didn't have 1/8" thick wood at Lowes. My book sticks up a little bit, so I drilled a hole in it and laced a piece of ribbon through it to hold it together. How-To Below) - Mini or Regular Hand Saw (I got mine for $3.50 at Lowes) - Ruler Optional: -Paint to decorate it - If you want to add a ribbon you'll need a drill and 1/8" bit to drill a hole - Any color ribbon Let's Begin: Start by cutting out the inside of the book. Use a regular kitchen knife or a craft knife to cut out the book seam: Next, measure each corner 1/8" in. You are measuring where your box is going to go: *If your book doesn't have a paper lining, you can mark 1/8"-1/4" in from each edge of the book* Measure from the mark you made on the top left side all the way down to the bottom left side. This is how long you will need your side pieces of wood to be. Cut two side pieces of wood that are what you just measured. Now that you have your side pieces cut we will use a hot glue gun to glue them on. Put a decent amount of hot glue along both of the bottom pieces of wood and press them down to set them. Do one at a time. It should look like this when you are done: Now for the Top and Bottom: * Do this for the top and bottom pieces. Mine is already cut here because I made mine too big and had to cut it again. Don't make my mistake. By this time you are becoming to understand that it's not easy to saw wood. Ouch.* Now glue the top and bottom pieces on: Mine aren't perfect. Yours don't have to be either! Go along the entire box and fill in any spaces with hot glue. Next, glue along the bottom of each piece of wood, inside and outside. YOU'RE DONE..... Unless you want to put a ribbon on your book box so you can tie it shut. Mark a spot on the cover of your book that is 1/2 way in between the top and bottom of it. Do this to the back of the book too. Get your ribbon and cut a piece that is at least 20 inches long. You can always cut any extra you have off. Thread the ribbon through both holes from the bottom and then tie a knot on each end so it doesn't come back through the hole: Pull the ribbon to the back to open the book: Now you're really finished! ENJOY!!
