Back for an eighth year, the annual Moleskine Project, curated by Rodrigo Luff and Spoke Art, brings together a diverse slate of artists all working within the confines of a Moleskine notebook. Featuring over fifty artists from around the world, this year’s exhibiting artists include Laura Berger (previously), Kevin Peterson (previously), and Martine Johanna. In Peter Carey's award-winning novel True History of the Kelly Gang, the novelist metamorphosed into an archivist, claiming to be publishing 13 parcels of soiled and rust-stained papers supposedly written by Ned Kelly in the unmistakeable grammar and syntax we recognise from the bushranger's famous Jerilderie Letter.

For the past few years, medieval book historian Erik Kwakkel has been poring over some of the world’s oldest books and manuscripts at Leiden University, The Netherlands, as part of his ongoing research on pen trials. Pen trials are small sketches, doodles, and practice strokes a medieval scribe would make while testing the ink flow of a pen or quill. They usually involve funny faces, letter strokes, random lines, or geometric shapes and generally appear in the back of the book where a few blank pages could be found. More
We are still working on Small Moment Stories. We talk about transition words daily as they come up in both our reading and writing. We talk about how transition words connect our thoughts and make our writing sound smoother and better. My students LOVE songs! We have songs for just about everything. If there isn't a song, then we make one up. This is our transition word song and the list of transition words that my students keep in their Writing Folders. Easy Old-Fashioned Notebook - No Sewing Required: This is a prop notebook I made for my Halloween cosplay this year. The character I was portraying carries around an old book, but old-fashioned notebooks like that aren't cheap, and I wasn't ready to spend that kind of money on a prop, so thrift sto…

The topics included in this bundle are: - Layers of the Atmosphere - Air Pressure and Density in the Atmosphere - Heat Transfer in the Atmosphere - Global Winds and Jet Stream - Clouds - Relative Humidity and Dew Point - Climate {vs. Weather} - Tornadoes (added 3/9/19) -Thunderstorms (added 5/6/19) - The Water Cycle - Watersheds Don't use interactive notebooks??? Just use colored paper!! Glue the passage to one side and have the students do the interactive activity on the other! Can easily be 3-hole punched to put in a binder, hung on the wall, or slide into a folder!! This product would best fit with 4th-6th graders, but would be GREAT for a 7-8 grade remediation reading class or special ed! Would also be a great option for differentiation if you have just a few students in your class that are having a difficult time with their grade level text that you already use. ************************************************************************* Do you teach more EARTH SCIENCE topics like plate tectonics or weathering and erosion? In our classroom we have been learning all about prepositions. I usually hate teaching grammar, but these hands-on reading units have made it so much more fun! Pinterest I started off by introducing prepositions with a song… These songs were PERFECT!! If you play them, be prepared for a classroom of little singers that will […]
Wednesday began with a stroll to the river. Sandra Brownlee, India Flint and Kelly McKaig Class began with a breathing and mark making exercise. Once finished, we moved inside. One stroke per breath. We read aloud Ode to Things by Pablo Neruda. Christine's notebook with a piece of her exquisite hand stitching. I took a break and went for a walk to think a bit before Sandra shared her wondrous notebooks with us.
Our oldest has learned her letters, the sounds that they make, and is starting to blend sounds. We have even begun learning sight words, but have yet to
Such interesting stuff!!! It's amazing what I'm finding now that I've taken a sewing break...... How cool, huh? And there's so much more. Good thing I'm not going to get hooked into that too! E-gads, if I spend any more time on this computer I'll never have time to sew! I do want to wish you many blessings this holiday season! Thank you for visiting with me! I appreciate each and every one of you and hope and pray that you all find peace and fun with those you love in these next few days of joyfulness. Merry Christmas!!
It's so much more than a place to take notes during class.
