I am playing around with my December Simon Says Stamp kit (read that as procrastinating) and also some new-to-me product, Ice Resin. Here is a closer look at the poinsettia I was able to create with book paper, Ice Resin, and Spellbinders die templates. It takes a bit of pre-planning, but its worth it. Making this gorgeous glassine book paper is very easy! Start with a piece of real book page. You can pick old books up at thrift stores for a song. Place the book page on a craft mat. To use the Ice Resin, you will push both plungers at the same time, and pour a small amount of the epoxy into a plastic cup. It needs to be stirred for 2 minutes (no less) to mix both parts properly. Using the highly technical stirring tool (popsicle stick) pour the epoxy over the paper and spread it evenly. Allow it to dry for a day or two. I know that takes some advanced planning, but if you make several sheets at a time, you can keep them on hand for those crafting needs. ;) Once it was dry, I die cut the glassine book paper with Spellbinders Paper Arts Layered Poinsettia. The very cool thing the paper, aside from its look, is the fact that you can bend the paper and mold it. Makes adding dimension even easier. I encourage you to branch out and try this product! There are lots of applications for it, so stick around and I will be sharing more in the future. Playing around in the mixed media world is pretty fun! Have a wonderful weekend! thanks for stopping by! ~kimberly

Thank you Carol and Stampers Corner for an awesome day Saturday! Love the new classroom. Here are the ladies working away! You all did such a great job! Thanks for hanging in there and staying late with me. This is the outside cover complete with a super cute bunny! The inside cover... ...and the inside. Look at all the Tim goodness! In fact the only thing that's not a Tim product are the vintage buttons and a little moss. Have a great week! UK-based book sculptor Emma Taylor sources old books from charity and antique shops and gives them a second story. Taylor uses simple materials—just glue, paper, and scissors—to sculpt architectural facades, lively animals, and leafy trees from otherwise unused titles. Each scene is inspired by the book’s written content, with a garden scene emerging from An Introduction to Botany and Italian houses built out of The Story of Venice. The artist shares on her website that she has been carving and sculpting books for several years, and has exhibited her creations in Cambridge, London, and Hong Kong. More

Hello my creative friends! Olga Bielska here :) Today I'd like to share with you my brand new inspiration - a mixed media canvas with lovely amazing Finnabair's products! I used a lot of new products to create my project. My main goal was to create eye-catching background. I used Finnabair Tissue Paper - Solar. I glued paper with the gel medium. I have used here also one of the stencils - Ornate Lace and beautiful mica powders. I made a composition from 7 Dots Studio papers, clay mass impressions, metal additives and other products that I glued using heavy gel medium. Te result was a beautiful color of the stars and the moon and it is all thanks to the Peacock wax. You can see all the making-of process in my tutorial. Enjoy your day and I can't wait to be with you again next time! Hugs, Olga <3 Products I have used - all the images linked to Mixed Media Place online store:

Please Read Before purchasing NO RETURNS. If this doesn't sound fun to you, if you are a very picky reader, if regifting a book that you have already read or don't like doesn't appeal to you then please do NOT purchase. This is supposed to be fun. This is a HOBBY for me. This a fun way to repurpose used/thrifted books. Make it fun or just purchase a book that you know you want to read. THANK YOU BLIND DATE WITH A BOOK This is a fun way for the book community to share books and have a fun little reading experience. BLIND DATE WITH A BOOK INCLUDES: Wrapped and decorated book (Decorations vary), and 3 extras! Extras maybe stickers, tea, bookmark, reading log etc! I like to get creative so I mix up what the extras are! We also have Blind Date with a Book GIFT SETS The GIFTS SETS are listed separately in our shop Although I am an avid reader, I cannot read all the books that I send out so please be cautious of your own trigger warnings before reading etc and if the book arrives and you have any issues please reach out and we will gladly accommodate you. If you want to be 100% sure that you do not receive a book that you have already read, then please leave me your good reads link in the buyer note and I will be sure to thoroughly check so you do not receive a duplicate. Please NOTE books are NEW and USED. They may be hard cover or paperback, they may be retired library books and or thrifted books. Personalization option - please don’t abuse it. Leaving me a lengthy description of what book you want defeats the purpose, leaving me the name of the book you want defeats the purpose. Leaving me your good reads link is helpful, leaving my a list of books you have enjoyed in the past is helpful
2018 Topic 2: Seth's NEW Fresco Paints Ohhhh I soooo love this!!! I'm sure you will too, Ruth always has such gorgeous ideas! Enjoy! ~ Leandra Hi everyone, Ruth here today, and I'd like to share with you a little labour of love that I've been wanting to make for ages. I've had a wooden cotton reel in my stash that I thought would be perfect for a 'spool album'. I first stumbled across this idea a few years ago in the form of the beautiful artwork of yoko kimura and taking inspiration from there I thought the honour of using Seth's new paint set 3 (FFSA03) in beautiful blues and green and Alison Bomber's wonderful word stamps would be the perfect combination. These are the stamp sets I've used EAB01, EAB02 and EAB03 It may be small, a less than 3 cm width strip to work with but you can still pack a lot of detail in......bit tricky to photograph too! First challenge was how long do I make it and what substrate, I chose to use Khadi paper or a cotton rag paper as I needed something that would last and not fray away, and curl but not crease. An A4 piece produced 7 strips and I used them all! The front and back are different, the buttery yellow with white and blue splats allowing for future journalling provides a perfect contrast to those gorgeous blues and greens. I loved how they blended together. The blue tones could be the sea or a night sky against the hills and the yellow is pure sunshine. Start at the end....once the strips were painted and stitched together I used some double sided tape to adhere it to the bobbin. I chose the final quote first as I though after reading the mini vignettes it would be a time for quiet contemplation. As I mentioned earlier a bit tricky to photograph a 200cm x 3cm strip however the the unwinding bobbin shows off the quotes and colours well. I chose background stamps to work with the quotes such as a music stave, flowers or leaves and used these additional stamp sets. ESN13, ELB27, ELB29, ELB30 and EEV 06. My secret weapon was a stamp positioner as I couldn't afford to make mistakes. The zigzag stitching joined the paper but I also used straight stitching to separate the chapters. Archival stamping and a few gold splats just enhance the spaces between....and aren't those paint colours beautiful? ..and finish at the start, a great quote to begin the story and all tied together with some turquoise cord. Having made one I want to make another with Alison's other themed stamp plates and may try using an old fashioned clothes peg (?dolly peg) as a base and use collaged stamped fabric instead to give a wider base to work on. And of course I've loved working with Seth's new paints and can see that sea green, night sky effect appearing again...frequently! Hope you enjoyed the story and are tempted to create one yourself.
