Hiya friends! The always-amazing-Anne Marie has a fabulously fresh color combination for us this week at The Paper Players: Isn't it great?! I was immediately drawn to the bold geometric shapes of the film reels as well as the repeated circle elements. I've been making lots of flowery and girly cards lately and wanted something a bit more gender neutral. With all that swirling in my head, here's what developed: I suppose the glitter dots and silver Baker's Twine tone down the masculine effect but otherwise I think it could be for anyone. The Smoky Slate main panel was stamped with Off the Grid in the same color ink--this is my go-to stamp for a bit of masculine grunge without adding bulky layers. As I was playing around with the layout for the hexagons, I thought they needed a vertical element to "ground" them. I actually saw the sentiment threaded through a hexagon in the SU catalog and from there got the idea to string them onto some twine. Centering the holes was easy! I first punched the hole in some DSP with a 3/4" circle punch. Next, I centered the hexagon punch over the already-punched hole and voila! The result is a hexagon with a hole in it! Use this technique whenever you want a punched center of another shape--works like a charm every time. Again, sticking with the idea that I didn't want anything TOO flashy (like rhinestones) I punched some small circles (with the Cupcake Builder punch) from silver glimmer paper and attached with a small amount of Tombow glue. Nice and flat for mailing too! Since I started with the stamped images from Six Sided Sampler but didn't use them on the front, I added them to the inside with a fun pairing of sentiments from Remembering Your Birthday. Hi all, I am back with another hexagon related card! I am loving the hexagons at the moment. This card was made for my lovely friend Sarah who celebrated her birthday earlier this month. I have taken sheets from the MME Follow Your Heart - Be Amazing collection and cut them witht he MFT Die-Namics Hexagon die. I have run them though my Xyron and added them to the card base in the pattern shown. I have then stamped the greeting from the Personal Impressions - Paula Pascal Big Sentiments set in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I have run the Memory Box Butterfly Dreams die through my Cuttlebug with a sheet of PTI Vellum CS and added these teeny butterflies to the hexagons with Tombow Mono Multi Glue. It's been hard work to get back into my craftroom for various reasons but I was determined to make the Less is More Hexagon challenge. Ok its almost similar to the other Simon Says Stamps Bee card I've done but it did help to get me back on the crafting wagon. I think the papers are American Craft Soho Garden but I was looking for yellow patterned paper and didn't pay much attention what pack it came out of. The bees and their dotty swirls are from Simon Says Stamps Circle Friend stamp set and I used the hexagon die was from their Holiday Apothercary Labels set. I added a black mat before the patterned piece to give a bit of a finishing detail and had to glitter the bees wings cos I got a dirty mark on one of them so had to do them all. I feeling almost normal and have made a couple of more cards since although I'm a bit behind on DT cards.

Every week or two, I treat myself to fresh flowers when I am shopping at Trader Joe's. (I love that store!) A bunch of flowers really perk up the kitchen and help chase away the winter blues. Here is what I have in the kitchen right now. Lovely, aren't they? I thought the pink roses were so pretty, and they were tight little buds when I bought the bouquet. It has been a delight watching them open up this week. This is another of my swap cards from Leadership. Could it be that I have a soft spot for pink flowers? Hi all, I am back with my card for the latest DTDF Challenge of Pink & Green. You have to make a card using the colours of pink and green and utilise a die in your card too. I made this card with the latest Less Is More challenge of 'Something Shiny' in mind too. For my card I took some paper from the MME Miss Caroline Dolled Up Collection and die cut them using the MFT Die-Namics Hexagon die. I have taken a white 5x5" card base and cut 1" off the bottom. I have added the hexagons on the base with my Xyron machine. I have then stamped the sentiment from the MFT More Essentials Sentiments set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I have taken a CC Butterfly Cutter and cut this with PTI Vellum CS and added this to the base with two pink Bazzill Jewels. I have then added three Bazzill jewels in clear to finish.
