L'apaisement des voix intérieures, de l'agitation mentale, de l'impression de passer à côté de sa vie, en sont les effets secondaires. La paix est notre essence, notre "Soi", notre véritable nature. Comment trouver la paix ? La paix est la conscience, le "Voyant" : retourner l'attention vers le Voyant, vers soi, vers soi dépouillé de tout, nu, transparent, silencieux, apaisé, guérit, forcément, de tout, car libre de toute définition, de toute essence, de toute nature propre. Et c'est cette paix naturelle qui se communique au mental, au corps, aux autres, au monde, comme le soleil dissipe les nuages par sa propre puissance. "Voir le Soi en tant que Soi" (âtmânam âtmanâ pashyati), souvent traduit par "voir le Soi pas le Soi". Mais je vois toujours par le Soi : il n'y a que cette Lumière. Par contre, je vois le Soi en tant que non-Soi, en tant que monde plus ou moins étranger, hostile, face à "moi". Mais quand cette conscience "face au monde" se retourne sur elle-même, se reprend et se ressaisi, immédiatement, directement, sans passer par aucun intermédiaire, aucun ressenti, aucune représentation, nulle image, rien, alors elle se voit soi-même en tant que soi-même. C'est "la réalisation de notre conscience", l'éveil à l'éveil - car la conscience est éveil, c'est le même mot en sanskrit, éveil et conscience : bodha. Quand la conscience s'éveille à elle-même, sans séparation sans dualité, sans intervalle, alors c'est la paix véritable, conscience intime, évidente et incommunicable à la fois. Dans cet instant de révélation, se découvre une réalité simple, trop simple pour être décrite, mais facile à reconnaître. Il suffit de retourner l'attention. Que la conscience s'éveille. Se ressaisisse, comme après une transe hypnotique. Et là, un silence se fait, une paix. Tout est là, comme avant, mais plus rien n'est comme avant. Une sorte de fraîcheur, d'intensité. Quand "je" réalise cette évidence, quand il n'y a plus de doutes, de dilemmes, c'est la pleine conscience (samkhyâ), la réalisation de soi. Ensuite, cette paix se diffuse, instant après instant, à son rythme propre, mystérieux. Peu à peu, cet éveil devient "permanent": le silence s'impose comme l'unique nécessaire, incompréhensible, sans justification ni espoir, parce que, on le sens du fond de soi, c'est le Bien absolu, le seul, il n'y en a pas d'autres. Toutes les voies, toutes les vies débouchent sur cette Vie de morts et de renaissances, Voie de la Déesse, voie du devenir, voie du Temps - Kâlî.
