Misses Extra Small to 3X-Large. The idealized figure silhouette of the Elizabethan era (1558-1603) required stiffened supporting undergarments to maintain a slender and visually elongated upper body. Both men and women wore such undergarments, so the early corset-makers were also men's tailors and armor-makers. M' Lady's Corset is representative of the late 16th and early 17th-century garments worn by upper-class women in the royal courts (square-neck version) and working class women in their daily lives (scoop-neck version). Both versions feature dropped waistline at center front to the V-neck that was characteristic of the Elizabethan era, and wide-set shoulder straps to further emphasize the small-waisted impression. Princess-style seams, while characteristic of later years, facilitate personalized fit for the contemporary wearer. Square-neck corset laces in back with purchased eyelets or handmade eyelets (instructions inside pattern), and adjustable straps that lace through eyelets in the front. Scoop-neck corset fastens in front with purchased hook-and-eye tape, and featured peplum that reflects the waistline tabs of 16th-century doublets and corsets. Placement of boning pieces can be altered for desired stiffness (see Important Notes about Corset Construction inside pattern). Suggested fabrics: For outer layer, medium to heavy-weight stable fabrics that do not drape, such as silk satin, brocade, damask, shantung, dupioni; cotton damask, brocade; linens and blends. For lining, same as outer layer or slightly lighter-weight equivalent. For supporting inner layers, see Important Notes about Corset Construction inside pattern. This is a totally old-fashioned garment, voluminous, non-stretch and made in the finest, softest cotton lawn - the sort of clothing that is almost impossible to find. I make these for re-enactors and performers to wear under costumes but I believe I sell most as nightwear. They are so cool, comfortable and slightly addictive - personally I dont sleep in anything else. Ladies fine white cotton lawn chemise/shift/tunic cut to the pattern of an 18th century ladies undergarment, worn under a corset and for sleeping. Available in sizes XS, S, M, L or plus-size. (I used to sell a one-size - now size Medium.). Cotton lawn is a lightweight, plain weave, sheer and soft cotton that is semi transparent. It washes well. This is a loose garment with a frilled (1/2 inch) gathered drawstring neckline, threaded with a 3 mm wide white satin ribbon. The gathering at the neck is not bulky as the fabric is so fine. The flexible neckline allows the wearer to adjust the gathers at the neck to make a flattering outline under a corset, and to make the neckline higher or lower, adjust it to fit and then tie the ribbon firmly The sleeves are three quarter length with small amount of gathering at the shoulder, ending in a similar frilled drawstring cuff. It is suitable for sleeping, lounging or wearing as part of a historical costume. The pattern is designed to waste no cloth, as shifts or chemises would have been made in the home, so the patterns pieces are simple geometric shapes. The sleeves are fashioned from a square of fabric with a square underarm panel to give ease of movement. Although the pattern belongs to the 18th century, all the internal seams are finished on an over-locker. The front slit opening is 3 inches deep. The flared shape is created by triangular gores set into the side seams. All chemises are 46" long. The XXS size is really tiny - and has a patch on back - see last photo - hence cheaper price - The measurement across the chest and the hip is 17.5”. - The measurement across the hem is 25” - The measurement around the upper arm is 12" The XS size is cut for a petite lady or young teen who wants it narrow - The measurement across the chest and the hip is 20”. - The measurement across the hem is 25” - The measurement around the upper arm is 13" The S size is cut for a UK size 10-12 - The measurement across the chest and the hip is 23”. - The measurement across the hem is 33” - The measurement around the upper arm is 15" The Medium (previously sold as one-size) is cut for a size 14-16 - The measurement across the chest and the hip is 26”. - The measurement across the hem is 36” - The measurement around the upper arm is 17" The Large is cut for a size 18-20 - The measurement across the chest and the hip is 31”. - The measurement across the hem is 40” - The measurement around the upper arm is 19" The plus size or XL is the same length but: - The measurement across the chest and the hip is is 34”. - The measurement across the hem is 48” - The measurement around the upper arm is 23" I have to charge extra for this plus size as it uses so much more fabric - sorry!

For the 18th century silhouette, I propose a corset to wear on your day shirt. An essential element of any outfit of the 18th century, this corset is made in 2 versions: - Cotton striped white and blue, lined in white cotton. - Cotton white, lined in white cotton White lacing link. Like any corset of the ladies of the bourgeoisie or of the nobility, it is laced only in the back. The servants and peasants only, wore corsets laced at the front, for they had no one to help them dress. Knotted at the waist on the panier hoops it confers the finesse and the maintenance of the ladies of the court of Louis XVI. Only corset, without shirt and panier hoops. This wonderful textile is a remarkable French folk dress bodice, dating to the late 1700s. Such a gorgeous French female folk undergarment!! This textile has a small scale geometric pattern printed cotton on most of the exterior. This type of design was very fashionable during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. This textile also uses a silk brocade to either side of the opening, one green and one gold. There is some indigo fabric on the bottom and on the top straps. This textile is in extraordinary, well preserved condition (please see condition details below) with the fabric tones still vibrant. It was likely patched and worked on over the years, the fabric at the top of the straps looks to have been added later, as do the mismatched buttons. The lining is of heavy hemp and the back has the original lifts for the "rump" or bustle. These rumps are stuffed with dense straw. This is 100% hand stitched. A wonderful and very rare find!! I have several in my collection, please email for details! ( EC88 ) MEASUREMENTS : This lovely textile measures approximately 18 inches long, 25 inches around at the waist, and the shoulders are approx. 12 inches. ~ CONDITION : This textile is in as found condition. It's in remarkable condition for its age! The silk brocade fabric has some holes, thinning and fraying. There are some pale stains, the worst is on the lower right front, as you can see in the photos. I've rarely seen another 18th century article of clothing in such well preserved condition!
