Hello Crafty Friends, Today I have a fun card to share with you. I got the original layout on Pinterest, but after seeing the card, I had to buy this set and create my own card. I few firsts for me on this card. First, this is my first slimline card. I love all the extra space this card gives as well as the unique card you can make. Second, I just received my first Distress Oxides and had to play with them on the sky area and the grassy areas. I have to practice with these, but I can see many more ideas and techniques with these in the future. The stamp set is Car Critters from Lawn Fawn. The trees are from the Happy Village set, also from Lawn Fawn. I created the road by cutting each side of a piece of River Stone Cardstock from Fun Stampers Journey with the Lawn Fawn Stitched Simple Way Border die. I then die cut the Fun Stampers In Motion die down the middle for the "track". I colored all the images with my Copics: Car: R56, R37, R35, C5,C3, 100, B00, B000 Bears/tree trunks: E27, E23 Trees: YG67, YG17, YG03 Sun: Y15, Y13 I attached the car to a penny and then sandwiched a foam circle between the two pennies and placed them between the "track". This is a fun interactive card for any age. Thanks for stopping by. Please leave me a comment.
I have been working on this for some time. I am a visual person and I have accumulated lists and lists of Copic blending families from my favorite guru's but, never could visualize them. One day I was in my LSS... Be Creative in Pitt Meadows, B.C. and Lisa Strahl had hers there. I thought what a wonderful idea! So...I began. I started with 4-1/4 by 5-1/2 but the pages were going to be too small and the book would be too thick so I started over and went with half-sheets. I decided to use my stock of Gina K Pure Luxury as: 1) I was not a fan of the paper (I know people rave about it but, I have way too much trouble blending on it) and 2) It was nice and thick with no bleed-through to the other side....perfect for my book. I got all the paper cut to size, my binding coil at hand, my Cinch ready to bind and I picked up a sheet of heavy-duty acetate/mylar stuff...cut it in half and it was perfect for the front and back protective covers. I started at the internet with digital clip art. I could have stamped it all but, I am such a newbie at stamping and there were so many images to do....I decided to go with digital instead. I searched until I found the images I wanted to represent my swatches....blank faces, hair, flowers, leaves, etc. I created my templates and printed off all my pages.....sat down one night with my Copics and colored the pages in. I split each section by color and representation. I was not concerned with the actual representation of....say a leaf or a barrel but, with the laying down of my color blending families. I am really, really happy with it. I can sit down now...open the book...look for a color family I want...see the main color, the highlight and the shadow....grab my markers and color. No more guessing! Have a wonderful day!

Hello blogging friends and Happy Friday! Not too long ago Bazzill contacted me to see if I would like to try out some of their New Cardstock--Card Shoppe. Card Shoppe is a New cardstock that is perfect for card makers and paper crafters. It is smooth, heavy-weight (100 lbs), and folds with a crisp edge. It is prefect to use with Copic markers and it won't warp when using mists. Card Shoppe is available in 28 coordinating colors in 8.5 x 11 sheets. **NOTE--The Bazzill Basic Paper website has been doing some maintenance and once everything is up and going I will come back and add in all of the direct links. ;-) Over the next few weeks I will be sharing several projects with you using the Card Shoppe papers. Bazzill was very generous to send and extra paper pack so I will be having a fun give-away in the next couple of weeks too! So be sure to Follow, Subscribe or check back ofter--you won't want to miss out on this great prize!! Here is the card I designed using the Card Shoppe papers. I wanted to try a few different techniques with the paper just so I could see how it would hold up and the paper is Fantastic!! I did stamping, coloring with Copic markers, die cutting, embossing and paper shaping. To start I used Rich Cocoa ink and stamped the image on to Marshmallow (white) cardstock. Then I started to add color using Copic markers. I used four shades of blue for the flowers. Next I used two shades of green Copic markers to color the leaves. Sorry, but I forgot to take a picture of the bow after I colored it but I used three shades of pink to color the bow. I used S4-356 Floral Ovals die template to create the die cut. I wanted to air brush on the inside of the die cut so I left the die template in place and created a mask to put over the floral image. I used a yellow marker on the inside of the oval and a blue marker for the flowers on the outer edge. After die cutting, air brushing and removing the mask this is what the die cut looks like. Next I used Gumdrop (green) paper and S4-328 Foliage die templates to cut/emboss some leaves and then I used a green Copic marker to airbrush them. For the little flowers Icy Mint (lt. blue) Card Shoppe paper and two of the flower die templates from S5-089 Home Sweet Home. To shape the flowers and leaves I used a larger ball stylus and a foam pad. Here is a close up of the colored image and the die cut oval and flowers. I added Pearls for flower center and Diamond Clear Glitter to the flowers and leaves. The Pearls and Diamond Clear Glitter are both from The Rubber Cafe'. I added some May Arts Ribbon Sample Delicate Vintage Lace and May Arts 1/4'' Fuchsia Silk Ribbon from The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store. For the embossed background I used Icy Mint (lt. blue) Card Shoppe paper and EL-002 Regal M-Bossabilities Folder from Spellbinders. For the card base I used Gumball (med.blue) Card Shoppe paper. This is my first card using the Card Shoppe paper from Bazzill but I really like working with the papers. They are nice and smooth, work great with Copics and die cut and emboss beautifully! I am looking forward to creating more projects and trying more techniques with the Card Shoppe papers. Thank you so much for stopping by today and I hope you have a Wonderful Friday!! Hello lovely bloggers :) There are a few people who have asked me how to colour with distress inks lately, so i'm hoping this might help. I am not doing a full tutorial, as I don't think my colouring is anywhere near good enough to be telling people how to do it, but i have put together a few of my top tips and techiques which should help you, and i will put some links to a few tutorials by other people at the bottom of this post. My post is mainly aimed at beginner distress inkers, but there might be a bit of something for everyone so have a quick look :D You can either use the inkpads or the re-inkers for colouring. If you use the re-inkers, just put a few drops onto an acrylic block or pallete, and for inkpads, tap the pad onto an acrylic block to get the colour. Do not put your damp paintbrush straight onto the inkpad, as it will dilute it and ruin your pad. I don't have the full set of distress inks. Infact, at the moment i only have 11 out of the 30+ (and before christmas i only had 7), but as long as you choose them carefully, you should be able to colour most things in the way you want. My 8 top tips and techniques 1) You NEED to use a good quality, heavyish weight watercolour paper. When i first started colouring with my inks, i made the mistake of using a cheap watercolour paper, and as soon as you put water onto the image, the paper just tares up and makes a right mess. I can reccomend 'The Langton - Etrra Smooth (Hot Pressed), or a quality paper that is at least 250 gsm and smooth (preferably hot pressed (hp) should be ok. 2) If you can't afford the whole set of inks, or don't want to buy them all, buy just one of every colour group(one blue, one brown etc), as you can mix them or water them down to make them look very different. Before christmas, i only had one blue - Broken China, which is quite bright, so i coloured my image with Broken China, and then coloured over the top with Antique Linen to mute it slightly to match my papers.2) For skin colours, i reccomend Antique Linen, and Tattered Rose, and i used Victorian Velvet for cheeks. For a darker skin tone, Vintage Photo in the shadow areas looks quite good. 3) Make sure you stamp your image using a waterproof ink. I use Archival by Ranger in Tuxedo Black. 4) Only put a tiny bit of ink on your brush. You can always add more, but it's harder to remove extra ink. 5) Don't put too much water on your brush. I dip my brush in water, and then dab it on a tissue to remove an excess. Again, it is easier to put more on. 6) Start with the darker/shadow areas of your image, and work your way into the lighter bits. Keep cleaning your brush in the water and use small brush strokes or a circular motion to blend. 7) If you make a mistake or go outside the lines. Quickly blend the colour with a damp, clean brush to remove some ink, and keep doing this until it is gone/almost gone. 8) Always have a tissue on hand to dab your brush on or to remove water if you put too much on your image. This was going to be a '10 top tips' thing, but i couldn't think of any more lol Practice Makes Perfect! -I hate this saying, but with distress inks, it really does help. If you are looking for a full, photo tutorial, please visit the lovely Hanna :) Thanks for looking Rachel xx

Woohoo! Happy anniversary to Papertrey Ink on their 14th year of non-stop beautiful products! I've been a fan from the beginning and now I'm proud to be on the design team. I'm so excited to post that we are starting reveals today for the February release! There are so many wonderful new products and I hope you love them as much as I do! Today we are introducing Sweet Hoppiness Stamp Set and Dies + Rainbow Arches Dies + Tiny Blooms Stamp Set and Dies. This is such a sweet set and just perfect for spring cards! I chose to color the bunny with Copics, but the set has all the bunny "parts" so you can just fill him in by stamping. I lightly sponged the white card base with Shabby Shutters distress oxide ink and "lined" it with Green Parakeet card stock. I stamped the two sizes of greenery in a circle then layered some more individual greenery sprigs that I die cut to give it more dimension. STAMPS: Sweet Hoppiness. INK: True Black, Green Parakeet, Aqua Mist, Bright Buttercup, Summer Sunrise, Hawaiian Shores, Lovely Lady, Raspberry Fizz (dye inks by Ink to Paper). PAPER: Green Parakeet, White, Bitty Big: Green Parakeet (Ink to Paper). DIES: Border Bling: Believe, Sweet Hoppiness, Tiny Tags, Stitched Circles. Next, I'm showing you a unique rainbow die set that is just so great! I have several rainbow sets but this is a must have! I've nearly covered it all up, but there is an arched greenery die that gives endless decorating options! I added some tiny images from the Tiny Blooms set, plus pulled a cloud die from the previously released Playful Patterns set. STAMPS: Tiny Blooms INK: New Leaf, Simply Chartreuse, Harvest Gold, Lovely Lady, Autumn Rose, Aqua Mist, Lavender Moon, True Black. PAPER: Lemon Tart, Aqua Mist, Lavender Moon, White, Green Parakeet. DIES: Rainbow Arches, Tiny Blooms, Playful Patterns, Border Bling: Tin Stitch. SUPPLIES That's it for day one. Come back tomorrow and see what else is in store! ~Wanda
