I have been spending a lot of time lately compiling popular color combinations from various different discussion boards and blogs. I decided to make a page for my copic sketchbook and thought I would share all the great combos.
Alice
Back by popular demand. This was posted several times here on my blog, but it has been requested a million times that I repost.. so here it is.. hope it helps. Remember! people are often intimidated by coloring images that have faces. LOL.. it's just paper, if you mess up there is usually a round bin near by to toss it into and start over..... the only way you will bet better at coloring anything is to practice.. trust me, many of my images get tossed to the round file (needs emptied quite often...LOL). Hugs, Jennie
Welcome back, Bloggy Buddies! I showed this on Thursday, did you see it? It's Day 2 of the "School is Cool" Blog Hop and guess what?! For the past two days, I've been in school -- I've been taking a class to become a certified user/instructor in using Copic Markers. On Friday, I took the Beginner's Class and on Saturday, I took the Intermediate Level instruction. The classes were offered in Lyndhurst, NJ which is about an hour and a half's drive for me, each way. So I stayed at the hotel (Courtyard Marriott) where the class was offered on Friday, and spent the evening playing/crafting. (Truth be told, I'm prescheduling this post, so this is all what I plan to do this weekend! More on the classes on Monday!!) So in anticipation of taking lots of notes and meeting new friends who may be able to give me tips on Copics in the future, I created this cute notebook to keep my lessons organized: I found the image and Copic logo doing Google searches. I created the cover art using the Adobe Illustrator program and printed it out on cover stock. I then adhered it to a premade sketch (unlined) book. Inside, I've bound in the synopsis for each class, information about the two instructors (Lori Craig and Colleen Schaan), and directions to the facility. I've also included the Copic Marker color chart that I made: Feel free to "lift" this chart and use it to keep track of your own Copic Marker collection! NOW, FOR BLOG CANDY!! We are so excited to have Scrapbook Stamp Society sponsoring this hop! Make sure you follow all instructions so you do not miss your chance at any blog candy offered. To complete your entry for the Scrapbook Stamp Society you have to comment on all the blogs; to gain extra entries, each blog you "follow" will give you an extra entry. AND I HAVE MY OWN SURPRISE BLOG CANDY! It's coming from my stash of really neat stuff. To win it, be a CardMonkey follower and leave a comment for me here. I have been working on this for some time. I am a visual person and I have accumulated lists and lists of Copic blending families from my favorite guru's but, never could visualize them. One day I was in my LSS... Be Creative in Pitt Meadows, B.C. and Lisa Strahl had hers there. I thought what a wonderful idea! So...I began. I started with 4-1/4 by 5-1/2 but the pages were going to be too small and the book would be too thick so I started over and went with half-sheets. I decided to use my stock of Gina K Pure Luxury as: 1) I was not a fan of the paper (I know people rave about it but, I have way too much trouble blending on it) and 2) It was nice and thick with no bleed-through to the other side....perfect for my book. I got all the paper cut to size, my binding coil at hand, my Cinch ready to bind and I picked up a sheet of heavy-duty acetate/mylar stuff...cut it in half and it was perfect for the front and back protective covers. I started at the internet with digital clip art. I could have stamped it all but, I am such a newbie at stamping and there were so many images to do....I decided to go with digital instead. I searched until I found the images I wanted to represent my swatches....blank faces, hair, flowers, leaves, etc. I created my templates and printed off all my pages.....sat down one night with my Copics and colored the pages in. I split each section by color and representation. I was not concerned with the actual representation of....say a leaf or a barrel but, with the laying down of my color blending families. I am really, really happy with it. I can sit down now...open the book...look for a color family I want...see the main color, the highlight and the shadow....grab my markers and color. No more guessing! Have a wonderful day!
Marianne Walker, who works for THE Copic Marker company, put out a color chart for those of us who use Copic Markers. NOW, please see HER ORIGINAL CHART on HER BLOG I LIKE MARKERS; I cropped it so I could get all of the boxes on one page which gives me larger squares. Make sure you print this out on your white cardstock that you normally use or plan to use your Copics on. Different cardstocks will show one Copic as different hues of color, depending on the quality of the cardstock. SO, if you are like me, and use three different WHITE cardstocks (SUP, Making Memories, Georgia Pacific), depending on the project you are working on, then print a chart out on EACH of the white cardstocks you use and then color them in at the same time. This will save time, in the long run! I have to go take Pepsi to the vet, something happened to her eye! MAN, the DRAMA this week is just killing me!
