For me, originally uploaded by wendalene. This is really cute, don't you think? But even more than that it's a great example of the effect you can get with just a couple of different stitches. Love it!
Supplies needed: Acrylic dabbers, photocopy of an image, water spritzer bottle, paintbrush, card stock, craft sheet and heat tool (optional) Take the lid off the dabbers and brush the paint onto the card stock, ensure you get a good coverage Take your photocopied image ( remember that you will get a reverse of the image, so don't use bold words), flip it over and place it in the acrylic. Lightly press it down making sure it's smooth and not wrinkled Leave to air dry for at least 15 minutes and then if you wish give it a blast with the heat tool Only move onto this step when you are sure your paint is completely dry Take your water filled spritzer bottle, spray the back of the paper no more than two squirts, you don't want it too wet Next start to rub the paper very gently with your finger Keep rubbing and extra spritzing if you need too Eventually you will get rid of all the paper, but it does take a bit of patience as you have to be careful not to wet it too much and rub the image away You can do exactly the same on a canvas Apparently the paint in the acrylic dabbers is slightly different to other acrylics as it is more chalky and that's why the transfers work best with these paints. But you can use other mediums. I tried it with Jo Sonia's background paints but didn't get such a good effect
I'm not sure if everybody who does peyote stitch knows this or not but recently a friend (who is way more advanced in this beading business than I) said she wanted to learn how to do it. So I thought maybe others would want to know, too. Here's your guided tour. Please forgive the blurry photos. Also, I'm sorry I have pictures with black beads but that was what I was working with at the time. Start the same way you always do in even-count peyote, which as you know is your first and second row. Work two more rows of regular peyote as you would normally do, one bead at a time. Then, pick up the same number of beads that you started with. In my example, I used 30 beads for the first & second row, so I picked up 30 beads at this point. Bring the needle up and around to the first bead at the top -- an "up" bead. Put your needle in that up bead pointing down toward the bottom of the work. Then skip one bead on your beading thread and put the needle through the next one on that thread and then through the next up bead on the work. Repeat all the way down. Finish by putting your needle through the bottom bead on the thread. You’ve just completed two rows of peyote stitch in less than half the time it would take to do it bead-by-bead – the usual way. I’m sorry my pictures are of black beads and not great quality but hope you can see the slick way this works. I’m really grateful to Melinda Barta (and Interweave) for the video on peyote stitch that Melinda did. I used to have such trouble starting a peyote project but the way she explains it (and shows it in the video) has ended all that frustration. She’s brilliant! And I’m also really grateful to Deena at Spring Beads in Spring, Texas. I took a beginning peyote stitch class there and after the class, Deena came into the classroom and showed us this Fast Peyote. I always use this w/ peyote projects now because it just makes it all go so much faster. I love peyote stitching, too, now that it is (1) no longer frustrating to start, and (2) fast.
I took the girls to the zoo this weekend and I had some fun FINALLY experimenting with my zoom lens. It was cool to take some photos of something other than the kids for once.

“….Salagadoola mechicka boola bibbidi-bobbidi-boo It’ll do magic believe it or not Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo…..” I still have no words….seems that Heidi did some magic ;) this one is perfect: it’s cool it’s cozy it’s so stylish and it’s sooooo me (you were so right Heidi…Thank you!) …when I first saw Heidis sample for this design, I immediately had to order some cascade 220 sport…just to be prepared for the release of the pattern (because I knew that I need to have one for me)…So I immediately had to cast on for it when lovely Heidi sent me the pattern, no matter how much other work was to do ;) and here we are only one little mod: due to my tiny dimensions I omitted the last body repeat

This morning, I was feeling overwhelmed. I noticed as I opened the door that it was about 15 degrees cooler outside than I thought it would be when I'd dressed my kids. I unexpectedly had to unload our double stroller from the middle of the van, which my husband had chucked there to load groceries
These recipes teach the art of assembling a meal without, you know, actually cooking.

These cards were created for use in the classroom for students to use when they are angry, frustrated, irritated, or upset. We teach students that it is ok to feel these emotions, but that they need to express them "appropriately." A lot of students don't have the social backgrounds or cultural understanding of what "expressing emotions appropriately" might look like. Hopefully these cards can provide your students an idea of some options that will help them calm down in a manner that will not disturb or affect others. I tried to include choices that would be easy to accommodate in a classroom and that would take light prep work. :-) Use these in conjunction with a mini-lesson on anger management. You can either cut apart these cards to put on a ring, or you can just laminate the whole sheet to make a choice board. Please let me know if you have any questions! **Created by Mrs. Kilby at Confessions of a Primary Teacher

Hello friends, Adrienne from @studio80design here to share a tutorial on how to create a fun washi tape swatch page in your bullet journal! Creating swatch pages is a great way to keep track of all your washi tape, and it adds some color to your pages! I’ve also found that washi tape looks very different on the roll versus when you actually unroll it and add it to your paper! Let’s get started! Tools you’ll need: Archer and Olive A5 Signature Dot Grid Notebook Archer and Olive Washi Tape Tombow MONO Drawing Pen 03 Tombow Fudenosuke Hard Tip Brush Pen Scissors Step 1 The first step is to use the Tombow Fudenosuke Hard Tip Brush Pen to write the title at the top of the page in your Archer and Olive Dot Grid Notebook. Step 2 Next, use the Tombow MONO Drawing Pen 03 to draw paint brushes and paint rollers on the sides of the page. It helps to plan the page out before you ink, so you may choose to pencil everything in beforehand. I tried to make them all just a little different from each other! A standard size washi tape roll takes up three squares in the dot grid notebook. I added an extra line in between each one so it wouldn’t be too crowded. Overall I was able to fit 8 spaces for washi tape swatches! Step 3 Grab your first washi tape and unroll it, measuring the distance you’ll need for the swatch. The first swatch goes on a roller, so I used scissors to round the corners on the tape. Then I ripped the other end so it would look more organic, like actual paint. Step 4 Continue to add the washi tape swatches on your page until it’s full! Erase any extra pencil marks, if you have them! That’s all for this washi tape swatch page! I had so much fun creating this, and now I’m off to swatch the rest of my Archer and Olive washi tape! Don’t forget you can code STUDIO10 for 10% off on the Archer and Olive website, including washi tape! For more inspiration like this, make sure to follow me @studio80design!
This is a PDF digital download pattern. The Road Trip Quilt pattern got a makeover! I've kept the same, beginner friendly design, but created an updated, cleaner and easier to follow layout. Oh and I also added a super cool BONUS throw pillow option! I hope you like it! This pattern will guide you in creating a modern and clean quilt using only half square triangles. Working with half square triangles or HSTs is so fun and versatile. I give you two different layouts and sizes in this pattern, however, once you get the idea, you can create countless more designs. In this pattern, great for all skill levels, especially beginners (with some basic knowledge of quilting), you will find fabric requirements for two different sizes of finished quilt; small 36" x 36", large 48"x 64", instructions for cutting, sewing and pressing the HSTs, and many photos and a digital mock up of both versions. Either version is bold, modern and striking in both solids and prints. Note - The final two photos show a slight variation and added borders. **This pattern is a digital PDF download.** After purchasing, you will be sent an email with a link to instantly download your pattern. You’ll have a limited number of downloads. Please save to your computer before opening on other devices. You will need to open on a non-mobile device. Nothing screams Halloween quite like black cats and pumpkins! Its time to break out the pumpkin spice lattes and cool fall weather. This was a super fun pattern made top down stranded color work style. For my yarn weight I used worsted malabrigo yarn from Rios. I am in love with their natural colors and how the overall garment turned out. Rios makes some of the softest wool I have worked with and I love how easy to is to block. For my color work patterns I try to do “knit by color” where in each chart you knit the corresponding color to get the final pattern. I have found this to be the easiest (and most fun!) way to go about knitting a pattern up. For this you will need US 4 circular needles (any length is fine) US 5 circular needles Yarn In 6 colors according to yard chart (located in pictures) Embroidery needle for tucking in tails I personally used long long loooong US 5 circular needles so I could try on my piece as I went. I had big plans to do this with the boys and post it here but party plans are getting in the way so instead I'll just share and hopefully show our posts later. I found this Hammered Flower and Leaf Print tutorial from Build/Make/Craft/Bake. The short version is gather flowers/leaves (on a nature walk?) spread them out on textured paper (like watercolor paper) and cover with a paper towel.
From barbecue chicken to barbecue side dishes, there is something for everyone. Here's summer dinner recipes that will level up your summer.
So this happened... I was walking through Walmart, minding my own business, and these emoji beanbags threw themselves into my cart. Sort of. First, I saw that they were on clearance for $7 each. How could I resist? This picture shows them sitting in the back of my trusty minivan, waiting for the custodians to finish cleaning my classroom and let me in. (My need to begin setting up my classroom begins about mid-July every summer, because I report back the first week of August.) At first I thought they might be used by my students as actual bean bag chairs. Um, no. The fabric is thin, and the insides are pretty uncomfortable. So the flexible seating idea was out (more on that idea later). These babies are just for show. When I walked into my room, I saw that my old TV had been removed, leaving a very high corner shelf in the front of the room. Perfect. My walls were completely bare this summer, awaiting the installation of a new 70 inch smart TV that will take the place of my projector. So I got to thinking about the really important stuff that would be front and center in my room, our self-assessment rubric, class motto, and rules... and I decided to change them all. Here's the first emoji update: our growth mindset/metacognition posters. This is how I get my kiddos to start thinking about their thinking (for the original post on this subject, click HERE). These posters are free at my Teachers Pay Teacher's store, just click on them to download! The next part of my emoji update is the complete set of self-assessment tools, which you can also find for sale in my TpT store by clicking on the following picture. My new class motto is: GROW your brain (Growth mindset!) SHOW your stamina (Whole Brain Teaching - stamina is being able to do something for a long time, without getting tired or giving up.) KNOW how you're learning (Self-Assessment!) If you want to join me in my new emoji style, I'm working on editable class rules next! Happy teaching,
Let me show you how to use this cool copper technique to enhance your decor. This is an easy project that anyone (yes, even you) can do.
