This is a resource offered by the Department of Special Education at the county public school I work in. It is great and has a complete list of 1,110 words separated into categories such as Colors, Animals, Letters, Emotions, Community Helpers, Toys, and many more! Some really awesome teachers put it together so I am hoping that their hard work will pay off by having many other people share in using it! Although the title says to use it for testing tacts on the VB-MAPP, it can also be used to think of ideas that your students can mand for. It would be great for coming up with items to use for teaching feature, function, class... and more! For those who are new to VB-MAPP and verbal behavior lingo in general, a tact is a fancy word for "label" and mand is a fancy word for "request". So if you were to point to a yellow fruit and say, "What is that?" to your student and he correctly answers, "banana" - he has made a successful tact! If a banana was sitting on the table and your student pointed to it and said "banana" because he was hungry and it happened to be snack time... you could probably assume he is making a mand :) Eventually, we want those words in that list to be accompanied with other words and carrier phrases, etc. Such as this tact: "I see a monkey eating an abnormally tiny banana" (okay, if your young student with autism says this, call me and tell me what your secret is!) or a mand: "Can I have a banana for breakfast?" HERE IS THE DOWNLOAD!!! Edit: There were some formatting issues when putting into Google Docs. I am assuming this is because it is an Excel doc but once you download it to your own computer, it should work just fine!

Do your kiddos love community helpers? Mine sure do, so this theme was a BLAST! These activities and printables come from my Community Helper Pack in my TPT shop. They are perfect for preschool and PreK students. Community Helper Pack Post Office Beginning Sounds- We stared the week by playing post office. Hayden matched the post cards to a stamp with that beginning sound. I attached each stamp with Velcro, and he placed it in our Melissa and Doug mailbox. He LOVED this, and it kept both my boys busy for quite awhile!!! Brush Away the Sugar- Hayden used an old toothbrush to brush away the sugar! Under the layer of sugar, were letters. As he found the letters, he traced them on the recording sheet. Firefighter Shapes- I squirted orange paint into a bag, and zipped it tight! Then we used our shape cards to identify and draw the shapes on the paint bag. Fine Motor Tooth Count- Marshmallows make everything more FUN! Hayden counted to 20 using marshmallow teeth and tongs. Garbage Color Sort- Both of my boys look forward to garbage day, so this was right up their alley! We used a small garbage truck and colorful Legos. Hayden sorted the Legos into the correct colored square. Sight Word Garbage- Next, he fed the garbage can sight words. This also comes with letters! Fire Alphabet Rescue- Fire fighter day was their favorite. Grayson pulled the alphabet fires off of the houses. 911 Craft- The boys worked together to complete a 911 craft with tissue paper. Building Patterns- Hayden constructed patterns with our construction pattern cards, blocks, and paint! Grayson helped, working on identifying shapes! Construction Towers- Hayden used cubes to count and stack towers. Community Helper Puzzles- I always included a puzzle activity, for my little puzzle lover. He completed the community helper puzzles by matching each helper to tools they use. Community Helper Sounds- This was a beginning sound clip card. He clipped a clothespin to a picture with that letter as a beginning sound. Great for fine motor skills too! Subitizing Band- Aids- This was kind of like dominos, but to practice subitizing numbers. Chef Pom Pom Count- pretended to be a chef and counted and created pom pom stew. This activity pack has SO MANY things, we didn't get a chance to do them all. This week ended up being more of a ‘spur of the moment’ unit after Kaleb saw some clip art on my computer and ‘helped’ me put together printables for him

Now you would think that all the backpacks in this house would be adorned with hand made recycled felt bag-tags from our re-sew-cool range, wouldn't you? Well, ahem...cough....not exactly. In fact, My kids wanted to design their own bag-tag (my designs not being quite good enough...) Wanda has a cowgirl boot. Pepper wants a unicorn (I'm in the process of making it)and the little fella, Joe, wanted a dog that looked like his favourite toy dog, "Booey". So I have made him this dog. It's not my usual style but I like him. And Joe really likes him! Here's the template if you want to make a dog bag-tag too. For the swivel clasp you can recycle a lanyard. He is simple to make: 1.decorate the face with a fringe, nose, mouth stitching and eyes. I used white shank buttons for eyes and a black permanent marker. 2.sew on swivel clasp to back of face. The fringe hides the stitches. 3.Sew head together, front and back, remembering to put the tongue in place. 4. Sew ears on around the front and back of head.
