I loved the idea of creating a pattern with the bees, as bees lives revolve around patterns. From the honeycombs of their hives to the waggle dance they do to show a new source of nectar, patterns are everywhere. When it came to naming the print it was totally obvious what I should call it, "Hive Mind". Due to the handmade nature of linocut, variations will occur which add to the individuality of each print, making each print unique. The print will be backed with cardboard and wrapped in biodegradable cello wrap and tape. I reuse my cardboard boxes to be as environmentally friendly as I can, so please ensure you recycle your packaging and tape, and the cello wrap can be composted. The inspiration for this reduction lino print is from a walk in the woods at the top of Denbies Vineyard, Surrey. The woods were carpeted with bluebells and the sunlight created beautiful shadows on the trees and grass. This landscape lino print is a limited edition of 24. Guest writer and artist, Julie Petro, shares with us her tips to mastering a limited palette using color scales. Limited palettes are a great way to learn and practice many fundamental aspects of painting. Yellow ochre, cadmium red, ivory black and white are known as the Zorn Palette and were used by the Swedish artist Anders Zorn when he first began to paint in oils. I painted this portrait called Maria’s Heart using only these four colors. It shows the rich flesh tones possible with this limi
